They're putting words in Marsch's mouth. He never said that five minutes made a difference in the outcome, just that they should be fined. It was more about wishing that he had an extra few minutes since I'm sure in that situation he'd want as much as he could get. That talk about the Argentine adjustment sounded more like he was making fun of them for being late. Like, why would they even need the extra time to make such a small adjustment.
Bingo. Kind of the name of the game with these talking head shows, though. It's weird that instead of showing highlights and analyzing game footage, so much of sports content is just a bunch of people missing the point on purpose.
Yes he did. Marsch said if they could have more time to prepare which means it totally made a difference Marsch is being a bitch. Doesn't want to accept that he lost and is trying to divert attention from it.
I don't have a problem with what he said - I appreciate Argentina, love Messi and all that - but they were fucking around and they were disrespectful to the game by coming out late. All of the South American teams play this way. The sport needs to treat everyone the same - I won't go into each cultures bullshit - but they all approach the game differently and the officials put up with it. All teams need to respect the rules.
These guys miss the point. It's a sign of disrespect to do this and if they're fine with it because 'Oh it's Messi and the Argies so everything is ok' then it's just another example of the two tier system of how people get treated differently because of who they are. If it had been Canada coming out late the lamenting would have put Trojan women to shame. I also think it's tied in with how pissed off they are at Marsch for taking the Canada job.
Nah, the point is "I'm mad butthurt cuz I lost and Imma start rambling and later say it was a joke". Ofc they should be on time, but saying that they lost cuz of that or that canada would've performed better with extra 5 minutes was painful to watch.
It's not a "get lost." Why should one set of rules apply to one team and not the other? That's not fair. Marsch never said that if he had extra time, he would've been able to cook up a plan that would've beaten Argentina. This is about making sure everyone is held to the same standard.
And now they got fined for not being on time. 😂 Marsh simply said everyone should show up to work on time. My guys did and their guys didn’t, where’s the penalty for it?
Back when Marsch was coaching the New York Red Bulls, he was the king of post conference excuses. I couldn’t stand listening to him. He was easily my most disliked coach. All coaches do this, and it drives me insane, but Marsch’s comments have always been extra ridiculous. Mike Petke was fired simply to give Marsch the job, he then went on to accomplish the exact same feats that Petke did but was considered a success. Petke is certainly too strong of a personality, but his post game rants were usually correct, even if Petke’s choice of words were poor. Marsch just says crap, it often doesn’t make any sense. Yes he had success in Europe, but on stacked Red Bulls teams that would have one with or without him. I think Marsch still needs to prove himself in the coaching world and stop saying anything and everything to take the attention away from his performance.
In premier league he was too, hes the biggest hypocrite and crybaby ive seen in years in football (and tbstd says a lot) while painting himself and his team of butchers like saints
It’s not a get lost. It’s the fact that there are certain teams that get more leeway. Argentina, Brasil, England, Germany vs a Jamaica, Canada, Guatemala etc, yeah. Watch Jamaica make Argentina wait 20 min on the field see what kind of press that gets. Look at the US a few years ago talk about the field in Trinidad, everyone ridiculed them. Now Argentina makes statements about the field and you got Ale over there saying the copa America should have never been played in the states! That’s the point Jessie was trying to make. Like someone said…rules are rules.
it wasn´t 20 min. 15 reglamentary which Canada had too and then it was almost five more, and they were in the fking 1000miles tunnel. They weren´t doing technical analisis. Is just crying.
this is what coaches do in all sports. he lost and hes not gonna bag his players so he finds something else to tell the media, and at the same time tries to unite his players with us vs the world kinda stuff.
Rules are rules. Didn't pep fine messi for coming late to training. The coach isn't crying because he lost. What's the point in having regulations if you let people side step them. Late is a fine. Even if it's $10k. He's not asking for the game to be replayed or a penalty. But a fine.
For me it has always been Marsch. He drove me up the wall when he coached on MLS. Every game they lost he said some of the most moronic things… things all coaches do, but it was like listening to an American version of Jose Morinho, but not nearly as entertaining.
Stop whining. This Canadian team is very violent, and Marsch himself encourages them to be violent. 14 yellow cards are not for nothing, and Canada benefited from two expulsions in their rival teams.

You can't know that the extra minutes did not help Argentina win. Argentina were not winning at halftime, so clearly what they did during the break was important. If they had less time, it's very possible that the game ends in a tie as well.
Argentina evidently isn’t well organized otherwise they would have been on time. Nobody is arguing gaining an extra 5 minutes to strategize would have changed the outcome (who knows, maybe it would change the path of the game). The point is there are rules. Argentina didn’t follow the rules and the referees let them get away with it. Rules are in place for a reason. If there are no consequences for Argentina then every team knows they can stay in the dressing room for an extra 5 minutes. Hey, let’s make it 6 or 7 minutes…maybe 10.
