- This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the weekend 08/08/2024.
Saturday will start a bit cloudy and wet for much of England and Wales but it will turn sunnier, whilst showers are expected further north. Then Sunday will be a mostly sunny day and hot in the southeast, Then temperatures are likely to rise even further for Monday, when some thunderstorms are possible. Not sure what's going on with your wind arrows there - in the later maps, those wind arrows do not reflect the pattern of the isobars one bit!
I was just thinking the same strange westerly over the north
The pressure map is at the surface, while the wind arrows are for the jetstream, at a different height.
It’s not normally represented this way? 👆🏼
@@billybothotmail I think @mistakenplane is right - it's depicting the jetstream, but it wasn't very clear. Maybe they need a way to distinguish between surface winds and winds aloft - using the same animations for both is ambiguous.
Hopefully the very last hot sticky rubbish we get.

You must be joking!! Hot weather and high humidity together are unhealthy for all of us. As an experienced weather man you should be incorporating a health warning into your forecast. You actually make it sound exciting!!!!

Beg to differ. It’s not so much the temperature alone, but you need to factor in the humidity level too. That’s what makes it feel so awful. Bring on the autumn!
