I would imagine the better lows are due to pre cached shaders through steam and the better average is because of not running the connect app or it's drm services in the background. I've honestly re-bought games on steam just for these reasons before.

I played 2 hours yesterday and the game is quite enjoyable.
I saw, though this should be about the same as what I did with maybe a different adaptive quality setting (probably setting to 30 instead of 60).
Really good summary and so informative. Much prefer having everything in the Steam ecosystem so I'll be picking this up at some point.
