Lista de canciones : Gioachino Rossini - Semiramide : Sinfonia Giacomo Meyerbeer - Il Crociato in Egitto : " D 'una madre disperata ... Deh! Mira l'angelo Hector Berlioz - Benvenuto Cellini : Ouverture Giacomo Meyerbeer - Robert le Diable :" Robert, to quei j'aime " Richard Wagner - Das Liebesverbot : Ouverture Giacomo Meyerbeer: Dinorah: " Ombre legere " L'Africaine: Marcia Indiana Les Huguenots: "O beau pays de la Touraine " Dinorah : Ouverture
Very interesting concert, for which many thanks. Glorious orchestra. Meyerbeer seems to be making a little bit of a come-back after maybe a century of eclipse, despite never quite entirely disappearing. The pre-eminence of Wagner and bans on performances in the 1930s and 1940s of course did not help. He did not perhaps command the greatest of melodic gifts but the orchestrations are masterly. I especially enjoyed the rare Crociato number, the Indian March and the page's aria from Huguenots. Damrau's voice still sounding on goodish form here (2014 you say), even though I prefer my sopranos to have a fuller tone and the top is rather shrill; she is at her best in the piano passages imo. Thanks for posting.
