This movie plays Excitebike really fast with an improvement of over a second compared to the previous movie ( tasvideos.org/... ) by JXQ.
Times for each track are:
0 = 36.19 (0.35 improved)
1 = 37.84 (0.40 -"-)
2 = 38.67 (0.19 -"-)
3 = 41.96 (0.02 -"-)
4 = 41.00 (0.02 -"-)
5 = 31.34 (0.40 -"-)
Cumulative in-game savings: 1.38s
Main improvements come from taking ramps faster and a unique trick in which the author goes slower to get a better time. Look for further info in the author's comments ( tasvideos.org/... ).
The encode for this movie features commentary in the form of soft subtitles.
This movie also has two Atlas Map encodes, one of Track 1 ( • NES Atlas: Excitebike ... ), and one of Track 2 ( • NES Atlas: Excitebike ... ), which shows the standard encode overlaid on a zoomed out map.

Excitebike was one of my first games when I got my NES in '86!
I had forgotten about this game completely, but seeing the thumbnail for this video I just remembered the level editor. Maaaaaan. I didn't even have NES, how did I play this?
Edit: Actually, I think it may have been famicom system we had one cartridge for, one with 50 or so games. Maaaaaan, this is taking me back so much

One of the top excitebike players now actually did this stuff in the 80s as well interestingly. It can be done by using a bunch of the "H" ramps in the design mode.

When he *hits* those *striped ramps*, it makes me go *"daAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYNM!!!!!"*. This video has JUST *WRECKED* my childhood.
This is downright frightening and I love it.
There was a feature for this game that allowed you to design your own tracks. I remember because each obstacle had a letter from A to Z and you could even save and load them. This was the forth game I had when I first got a Nintendo back in 1985. The other three were the Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt game and Gyromite with the Rob Robot. Good memories :)
The way he flies when he hits those jumps, I was half expecting a Duke brothers "YEAAAAAAHOOOOOOO" to be snuck in somewhere.

So in theory, with the maximum number of short ramps...
imagine if this was a real motorcross event in real life. imagine the commentators saying this guy is a menace deliberately crashing their bikes into another, then suddenly teleporting to the ground.
Its funny how the ramps give a boost than slow the bike.

Love that they even programmed the races to hustle back to their bike after they wipe out. A lot of games would just reset the player & bike simultaneously.
