I’ve recently been casually playing Excitebike and have slowly been getting into more advanced techniques. This is a ton of information to learn from, thanks dude!
Thanks for making this! I did not find this game very intuitive when I first tried it, but now it seems accessible. I'm looking forward to giving it another try now!
Loved Excitebike as a kid. Even sent in my high score photos to Nintendo Power (none of which touch your times). Later in life found the FDS version and rekindled my childhood fascination for this game. I just wish my kid self could have experienced the FDS version back when I had hours and hours to play.
Great video... had the game when it came out like mid 80's. I knew most of the tricks and could get super speed off the "H" ramps but didn't know the exact landing to get it every time. It was always such a rush to get!
I used to play this at home until I could get top times then I'd go to the arcade and sweep the vanity screen. The arcade and home versions were different but not different enough to matter after a couple warm up games. I figured most of this stuff out when I was 15 or so but that boosting your speed by bouncing? Amazing!
This video was posted a couple years ago so may not be the best place to try to ask, but any idea if the method of building lots of speed with the triangular ramps and tapping left before landing should work on the 3DS version?
I think the 3DS version is too different. I'm not entirely sure what works there and what doesn't. Surprisingly I haven't actually played it, but it's definitely a lot faster. The mechanics might be the same. If they are that would actually be incredible. I might have to pick it up now actually.
I can't do this, I don't understand how to go fast, when I jump down a ramp I usually slow down when falling. Your speedrun is amazing. I tried to get it done at 47 seconds but it only reached 59
Amazing! Professional and understandable and most importantly, you presented the game in a really fun way!
