Thank you very much, and good to know! Besides the obvious reasons that more sportiness is potentially more dangerous, like speed, what else about the Camry would cause fatal injuries if they didn't tone it down?
@@DoubleClutchAutoReviews precisely the traction control. Usually Camry buyers are not looking to drift or race, for that Toyota feels the need to make traction control unable to completely disable. And like you mentioned in the video, the ride quality is what Toyota is really proud of in the Camry. I ordered a Camry XSE AWD, it will be my first time trying out AWD on a Camry.
@@nowayhedidthat That totally makes sense. Even with "TC off" I felt that it was 100% still on. Either way, not a deal-breaker when you consider that the Camry is not intended to be a road/track monster. It is meant to be a reliable, comfortable and user-friendly daily driver. Toyota should be proud of the ride quality, because even over potholes, the Camry handled it very well. It also had exceptional handling for what you'd expect, all without compromising the ride quality. Good luck with the new XSE AWD! I now have 1560 miles on my 22 xse camry. I love the car and the smooth ride , however, my only gripe is that whenever I start to accelerate, slow or not so slow , the motor always seemes to be at a strain. It is a great car.
I completely agree! It was a very nice car to rent for a few days, especially considering the price. However, I do feel the engine could have had a hefty helping of more grunt, especially from low speeds. That's what the V6 XSE is for I guess! Thanks for checking out my review!
It is a 4 cylinder. Don’t expect too much. The V6 would’ve been a much better option for a few $K more. I have a 17 Lexus ES350 and the V6 power is adequate for highway passing.
@@jml9550 I completely understand your point, and I also agree with you regarding the V6. I would certainly spend a few extra thousand to get around 33% more power. However, some people don't care about that power, and they just want the best fuel economy possible which I also understand. In that case, I would say get the hybrid, but now we're talking about spending several thousands more on the other end... To be honest, regarding this specific Camry, it wasn't so much the lack of power with this NA 4-cyl that was the most disappointing, it was the fact that traction control SIGNIFICANTLY inhibited/limited power being put down to the wheels in this car. It was downright neutering this Camry's acceleration! Someone did tell me that Toyota limits power being put down, and doesn't fully turn off traction control for safety reasons, but I think that is nonsense. I'm driving the car, and if I want TC to be off, it should actually be turned off, and STAY off. That's what I am expecting the car to do. Let me know your thoughts.
@@DoubleClutchAutoReviews Completely get your point on the 4 vs 6 preference. That’s from my point of view as I only drive around 6-7K mikes per year, so it doesn’t impact my wallet that much. That’s why I bought the Lexus ES350 in 2017 vs the hybrid. But given the current gas price i am planning to buy my wife the Lexus NX 350h hybrid instead of the turbo NX350 to replace her RX350. She couldn’t care less about 200HP vs 600HP and 0-60s in 3 seconds. Pertain to the Camry’s TC issue, I won’t comment as I don’t have any experience.
@@jml9550 Makes perfect sense! Literally both ends of the spectrum. Pretty much exactly the same and my girlfriend and I! Hahaha and yeah the TC was absolutely debilitating for it... That's the best way I could describe it. You could literally feel it cutting power to the engine in short spurts as you would accelerate, and the TC light would blink several times as you are going full throttle from a stop or a slower speed. A 6-speed manual version of this with actually cancelable TC would've made a HUGE difference.
It was certainly eye-catching! I've heard from many people that it is actually their favorite interior color that Toyota offers. Good luck in your search when the Hybrid AWD comes out, and thanks for checking out my video!
I just got my car! I paid 40 plus! I honestly don’t think I’m getting great gas mileage! I also think the color I ordered and what I received is not the same. I’m still learning of course! This is my first new car ever! I’m hoping my last! Over all I’m happy.
Did you pay $40k for the same car? What is your current MPG? Do you do a lot of city driving? Also, check your VIN with the dealer if you would like, and you can directly compare what color code is in your VIN versus the color you have on your order invoice/window sticker. I would advise comparing the two just to make sure, because there is no reason you should have a different color than what you ordered. I'm glad you are happy either way, and I hope it lasts a very long time for you as well. Let me know the answers to those questions if you would like, and I'll try to help you the best that I can. Sumeer I'm not 100% sure of this number as I didn't have the window sticker, and I unfortunately don't have access to the car anymore to get the VIN... However, based on it's starting MSRP ($31,145) plus the options I know it had, (the $500 extra for the two-tone paint, the $1,360 sunroof, and the $129 dual rear USB ports) I'm going to think it was around $33k, $33,134 to be exact. Hope that helps, and thanks for checking out my video! -Mark
I purchased the 2022 Toyota Camry XSE 4 cylidner.....I'm getting about 330 average on 15.8 full tank. What is everyone else getting? I'm trying to get maximum mileage on a 15.6 full tank.
Hello Nathaniel! I have to admit, I can't remember the exact number, but I was getting FANTASTIC fuel economy with this Camry, and I did mostly city driving and/or putting my foot to the floor! According to your calculations, you are getting an average of only 20-21 MPG. That is truly horrific fuel economy for this car. Are you sure you have the 15.8 gal tank? I feel that you either have a much smaller fuel tank (maybe an 11 or 12 gal tank?), or you are just absolutely sendin' it on the track 24/7 with that kind of MPG hahah I would double check your owner's manual/window sticker and make sure you are comparing your max range to the correct tank size and go from there. Good luck, I hope that helped, and thank you very much for checking out my video! -Mark

I just bought an XSE. It DOES support remote start on the fob (Press Lock, Press Lock again, Long Press Lock), as well as using the Toyota App from your Smartphone to start the car. I can even start the car from my Amazon Echo devices in the house ("Alex, as Toyota to start my car").

Good for you Peter! I bet the V6 powertrain makes a HUGE difference. Do you feel that you are ever lacking power when you stomp the throttle at lower speeds? Or, do you ever feel like traction control is limiting your power, even when you have it turned off? I'm very curious to see if the engine configurations make a big difference in how the power is put down to the ground.
Great review.but your gear timing sucks.i was listening to the engine and I knew when it was time to change.the car did a fantastic job.You would burn your clutch out in record time.
Thank you for the comment regarding the review! However, I'm not really sure what you are talking about regarding my timing. I've driven several vehicles with transmissions like this, and I can usually tell when I have a bad shift that was my fault. Additionally, this 8-speed “direct shift” automatic transmission has a traditional torque converter, so therefore it doesn't even have a clutch... I'm honestly just using the paddles and the gear lever the way they were meant to be used. I'm not banging off of the rev limiter, I’m just shifting the car right before redline and under full throttle. This transmission just happens to shift very slowly. It's a 4-cyl Camry, it’s not that big of a deal. Anyway, I believe that people should be 100% allowed to politely disagree. If you think my timing sucks, that's totally fine. I'm just going to say I completely disagree. Either way, I hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless, and thank you very much for watching. -Mark
