Im guessing that since the gravel-eater was a failed purposed organism, it failed to ascend (very much like Artificer’s ending), plus i love the derail of them having an initial 4-karma max, which is gluttony :) back to the theory: since g.e. isnt a naturally made being, the void worm just let them dissolve in the void fluid despite having the void fluid inside them, i mean, who would even survive in a pool full of stomach acid?
Ty for sharing. If this cat was in the game even with just what I've seen I might be more willing to play Saint. I dislike Saint story, but I feel with this scug as a transition between Riv's 'Save them' quest and Saints 'k̶i̶l̶l̶ Ascend them' quest showing a scug story like this where Pebs is trying to get free would ease that sharp contrast a lot! Plus he eats rocks. I love the idea of making a trash eater in a survival game! Cronch!
I think I've sorta figured out the lore/storyline for the Gravel-eater. SPOILERS AHEAD!!! So basically, the gravel eater is a slugcat created by 5p in an attempt to kill the rot. However, the gravel eater did not wake up. After 5p's collapse, the gravel eater was awoken by an echo- hence why the other echos think the gravel eater is an echo, maybe also because the gravel eater has void fluid inside itself. However, the gravel eater was awoken too late, and pebbles was basically already dead. The void worm rejected the gravel eater because it was essentially an echo/used by an echo. The bit in solventicon with pebbles is a memory of before 5p's collapse and before the gravel eater was awoken.
so basically the bob did some shit at the bar and the bouncer will not let them in. so bob got plastic surgery and goes by phil now. the bouncer remembered his voice and was not let in. bob is the echo the shit is clinging to the mortal world the bar is the void fluid world the bouncer is the worm the surgery and name change is gravel eater is what i say accurate

It’s interesting how Pebbles isn’t completely brainless in this state. Considering the rot still being in high amount and gravity somewhat working, I’d say this is before Saint? When he warns you about warmth, it could be his mind breaking a little. Unless, of course, Saint never ascended him and he got a rarefraction cell returned, returning some portions of his thinking.
