3:08, I think that's the whole dream. This is why Darkness is blind, they had echolocation in that dream and were no longer a slugpup, so they were underground in the dark for long enough to get adapted, then a scavenger threw a flashbang RIGHT in front of their already sensitive eyes.
my understanding of the story is: a black slugpup, Darkness, was being taken care of by Hunter (or well, generally a red slug, but lets call it Hunter, i don't think it really matters). Hunter wanted to ascend with its pup, but Darkness was not let through by the Guardians, and ended up stuck in the depths, while Hunter ascended. due to living underground, Darkness developed better hearing, that's why in the last dream sequence (3:02) it already had the wobbly textures around it. the screen a little bit further on the right was normally visible, so we know that Darkness still had functioning eyes at this point. it got so used to the darkness of the depths, that the sudden light from the flashbang thrown by a Scav at a lizard blinded it. without its eyes, Darkness' hearing adapted even more, allowing it to navigate the world completely blind.
From what I understand, the darkness's backstory is a nightcat-colored baby that was taken care of by Hunter and left around the depths The fact that these exact scenarios happened to me and my hunter run is rather... personal. As for the gameplay I love the implementation of overseer's "light" as the way to navigate, echolocation but amplified? Idk seeing the world in a new perspective is cool!
@@Soul.Resonant it's been so long since I last seen my slugpu thanks to this Guardian the thing behind the the slaughter (my God the lyrics fit so well)
Yeah! Pretty much! From what I can see Hunter revived Moon and found Darkness on the way back through Industrial on the way to Chimney and Pebbles, because she didn't recognize you. Then he visited Pebbles with Darkness, Pebbles /did/ recognize you. Then took Darkness to The Depths, Darkness got killed by the Guardian. However, because Hunter dove into the Void Sea he wasn't there when Darkness' cycle restarted. So the now alone pup survived and lived in Filtration for long enough to grow from a slugpup to a slugcat, figuring out echolocation and having their eyes adapt to the darkness. Unfortunately as soon as they left Filtration a scavenger threw a Flashbang and it landed /right/ in front of Darkness, blinding them forever. And that's generally where the campaign starts.
This looks cool. I recently read a story about a blind slugcat and I'm thinking of trying to make a mod around it. Though instead of just making everything darker and harder to see I'm going to try actually implementing echolocation.
@@hannahgurley1912 A blind slugcat gets adopted by scavengers but the tribe gets wiped by vultures and leaves the slugcat alone to take care of a baby scav.
This is actually a interesting way to play, seeing the outline of terrain and enemies but not the whole screen. Making traveling in the dark much easier but also somewhat more difficult
i have to say the story of this slugcat is the most creative and real i have ever seen. it takes something totally possible and relatable ideas from real gameplay and connects the dots between real logic we know (adapting with echolocation like some blind people did) and the flashbang fruit with sensitive eyes from darkness (turn on your phone in the middle of the night) and makes it a tragic and bone tough story
@@kirokiro3761 its blind like this one except you cant see anything. At all. @@lunyxappocalypse7071 As some reasons. Slugcat's can not kill Guardians. Singularity bombs do not ether. Hunter would not take a Slugpup with them, they would loose too much time. I can imagine the void sea really hurts their ears, as they have adapted to becoming extremely sensitive to sound
Yeah... And it's gonna be even worse because sound travels further through liquid
nevermind void sea, five pebs is REALLY loud.

Ok, that sounds like an amazing concept!! If I had gotten Rainworld on PC, I would totally play that!

It’s so fuckin sad there are no mods on console,if only PlayStation had some mod shit like on steam
We can hope people will create some stuff, it took a bit for mods to hit steam, I’m sure they’ll come for console!
give it a few years, mods are the uphold of gaming communities, and it won’t be long before the consoles add mods too.
Same
Console skyrim and fallout 4 have mods. They're better on Xbox than on PlayStation tho.
