    • @pandarosamusic5751
      @pandarosamusic5751 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rjlchristie For me it's like a glimpse into the slow build and climax of a genre that would start to appear in the 90s and into the 2000s, a genre of rock that was stretched out, disassembled and often featured a slow repeating build into a climax.
      If this song was 8 minutes long and had a longer build that kept repeating for even longer, it'd basically be one of the first post-rock songs ever IMO!

      Dave must have got that afro in Wellington cos the Dudes were in Welly for a week and played one night at Ziggy's (no afro) and then on Fri/Sat at the Last Resort - the afro. I went to all three gigs, that's how I know. They were coming to the Last Resort for quite a while before Dave got the afro. Great nights listening to Th' Dudes at the Last Resort. Another good one they did was the T Rex song "Get it On". I think Dave used to do the high vocal for that too.

      there were talks of a show set in the 90's around Shadbolt high, could be a tad tricky without the house. some sort of ~15 years later series/movie could work. it would be easy to explain away the house. would love to know what happens with everyone.

    I got soooo many words wrong in this song that I only corrected recently... In my mind the lyrics went as follows....
    "AGE and Cigarettes" (Thinking it was a reference to what was taking it's toll....)
    A long TIME, a few cans, if you can (Again, too much alcohol)
    Be my FAIR skinned baby (Yeh just missed that)...
    We're in for a long night- a strong night
    You- Look what you've done to me
    You HIT me- You bit me- I'm RARE (Volatile relationship)
    Oh
    ,,,
    Maybe ... (Love that drum break... short, simple but somehow different). Yeah so I went through life having a completely different take on the Lyrics...
    But then again, Most people take their (IMO 'Biggest') hit "BLISS" as a drinking song, when I believe it was intended to be a poke at the drinking culture... Forget about the last one, get yourself another [drink].....

    Sunset Rock Concert in the Ak Uni park courtesy of Radio Hauraki, magic performance of this song on release! If I remember rightly, supported by Frank Gibson jnr, who featured a white haired American (?) Fender Rhodes player, who just utterly and completely blew everyone away.
