The lack of markings on some/most of the receivers was just a characteristic of this rifle. Many were converted or refurbished from older 1893 types to the 1916 model and had the markings ground off of them. You can do a search for unmarked spanish mausers and see some discussion about it.
In the Late 80's Guns & Ammo magazine sent out a batch of the 7.62 converted rifles to H.P. White Laboratories for pressure testing and thorough going over. White put some hefty loads through the test guns in excess of the SAAMI max of 55,200 PSI for .308 Win. Further, the guns were tested to destruction only after exceeding 98,000 PSI. There have been no reports of a catastrophic failure with this rifle shooting 7.62 NATO or .308 Win. Most are internet rumours or speculation.
Hmmm, I'd be interested if you could guarantee a Spanish Sword and Fasces crest through the handpick option... I worry about not all of them having the crest since I've seen some 1916's without them.
The crossed Fasces is not the Spanish crest. This symbol is called faces and in these rifles signifies the Mark if the Spanish Falange or fascist movement.
The crossed on the Mauser in this case is the symbol of the Spanish Guardia Civil Corp. it is still the current symbol of this military/police corp. Was founded in 1845.
