Narratively, I think Trick is the best ending. I'm 99% sure at the end there, where he says "You are a mortal and I am.... a fool" what he was actually going to say was "I am a god" but he realized he was basically part of the Evanuris, that he had become what he was fighting against previously. So he was kind of persuaded, in a way.
Yeah strong disagree. Tricking the Dread Wolf into his own prison is a great idea. Unfortunately the execution is horrible. The fake dagger suddenly appears out of nowhere with a handwaved explanation and we're supposed to believe that Solas won't realize it's a fake? Not even close to buying that
Yep, that's the ending I chose, even though I had unlocked the ability to persuade. It felt like everything coming full circle to beat the God of Trickery at his own game.
Persuade hits really well in a lot of ways. Around every corner in this game you see examples of people who needed another chance to do the right thing, and whether they got it or not defined them. Harding in her personal quest, the Gloom Howler, Hezenkoss, Cyrian, Shathann, Illario. All of them tried their best and failed, but some of them come back from that when the right person stops them and gives them a better way. When do we decide a person is "too risky" or "beyond saving?" That and the Lost Elf Theme returning.
The ultimate ending for Rook is definitely the one where you outsmart Solas. It's not just about beating him-it’s about proving that, even in his own domain, where he thought he had everyone figured out, Rook could outthink and outplay him. That moment when Solas finally acknowledges Rook’s brilliance? Absolutely chef’s kiss. It’s the perfect payoff for everything Rook stands for. And let’s not forget-it’s also the perfect revenge for Varric. This isn’t just about strategy; it’s about breaking Solas where it hurts the most: his pride. While in the Fight Ending he loses control and furiously proclaims himself a "god," here, in this ending, he’s truly defeated. The line "I am only a fool who met his match" is such a mic drop moment. His ego is shattered, and it’s absolutely satisfying. The "save Solas" ending focuses on the Inquisition, with the Inquisitor, Morrigan, and Mythal at the center. It’s about redemption, sacrifice, and legacy-a beautifully tragic conclusion. The "fight Solas" ending is about the companions. Their loyalty, their willingness to stand with you no matter the odds-it’s heartbreaking and epic, a testament to the bonds you’ve built along the way. But the "trick Solas" ending? This is where Rook truly shines. Outsmarting Solas at his peak, breaking his confidence, and forcing him to admit defeat-it’s the ultimate victory. Not just for Rook, but for everyone who suffered because of Solas’ arrogance. It’s justice, it’s vengeance, and it’s brilliant. This ending is a masterpiece. Rook’s wit, Varric’s revenge, and the complete shattering of Solas’ ego-nothing could be more perfect.
My Rook hates Solas, but he figures a willing prisoner is less likely to break out. Inspired by Solas' prison of regret for the elven gods, my Rook decides playing on Solas' emotion to get him to sacrifice himself is a good bet.
Outthink him and outplay him? You mean, with the fake dagger that Rook's companions came up with, and they forged it while Rook themselves was trapped for weeks in the Regret prison? And then the same Rook sends him into the prison with the real dagger, with a tool that Solas escaped that prison in the first place, with a tool that allows him to tear the Veil? Smart and brilliant indeed.
@@pativi6643 I don't understand the problem. Dragon Age makes clear that the Elve Gods are fake. Just "human with weaknesses" and nothing close to perfect. So yes, in their Arrogance they can be outplayed.
Whoever wrote act 3 of the game where the hell were they throughout the whole game, act 1 and the first half of act 2 feel like AI was in charge of this game the in,then archdemon fight the game after like 10 hours started to get interesting like seriously….
they had to debuff solas so hard as he was too strong in trespasser dlc. he just turned people to stone without difficutly, in here all he has in terms of magic is telekinesis and morphing.
He can turn people into stone still, it does happen if your companions don't have their loyalty missions done. But really worth pointing out: Solas did just spend days fighting against the Blight and Venatori in Tevinter, preventing the Shadow Dragons from being wiped out, THEN he went 1v1 with a god empowered archdemon that also has the blight tentacles on it's side.

Persuading is the best for him and the inquisitor i played veilguard for that but ngl fighting him or outsmarting him are both amazing choices as well especially outsmarting him he was about to say he was a god but in the end he changed to "i am a fool" showing how hes been persuaded in a way
I did the persuade first on my PT. Then trick, then fight just to see. Seeing his reactions, especially fight, man Solas really is evil. He doesn’t deserve redemption. Great villain though. Even on persuade, he still was going to go through with it & Rook would have doomed the world. I think I may go with Trick as that feels the most satisfying. A mere “mortal” humbling him with a taste of how own medicine and giving him something to stew over in the fade 😝
Well he said specifically “by my hand” and it was your hand wo killed the last remaining Evanuris with the lyrium dagger. Also…I guess he knew that we know of his regrets and used the words to have the most weight in this situation. It’s not that he is sometimes manipulative…EVERY single word he says is manipulative!

Those people got second chances not twentieth chances. And I personally draw a line at killing friends because it’s convenient.

You're so right!
The trick Solas was not set up properly to be believable. Oh here’s this random dagger Emmrich made…come on. 😂
I love that Davrin is the only one to actually hurt Solas before he gets “Falco punch” in the face by Rook
I feel like if Davrin is in your party they could have added a brief part with Assan clawing at Solas' face
Meanwhile, poor Lucanis was basically throwing nails at him 😂

The fact that he swore on everything he held sacred and broke his oath is what sealed the deal for me. No redemption for you, Dread Wolf!

So lame you fight him in a cutscene. It would have been a lot cooler if you fought him as the Dread Wolf boss fight.
