Oh my GOD this letter is everything 😢 I didn't intend to play this game - the art style bothers me almost as much as the old WoW art style bothered me, and not even a Mr T commercial could make me play that game - but now I feel compelled
Solas was the only video game character i loved this hard. I'm glad to see this ending, even if I never plan to play veilguard. I needed them together again to feel whole.
We had to chase and convince Solas to romance us constantly. Would it hurt for them to throw in a couple of lines for him to let us know he still feels the same and we aren't just taggin along....
lavellan simps for solas more than solas simps for mythal. He only binds himself to the veil bc mythal released him, not bc of lavellan. And she still decides to go with him. Sure solas gets a nice end but inquisitor deserves someone better 😅
I think everyone misunderstands what Mythal is to Solas. She releases him from her service, meaning he was a loyal servant. A lot he did, he did because of her and for her from the very beginning, even though his heart was swayed elsewhere. It was duty and loyalty but I don't see the romantic love. The inquisitor gets that. The fact that he cried out of relief once he got the permission he needed to let all of this go is the confirmation I needed. He is free from all the guilt and regret and can finally do whatever he wants which was going back to the fade anyway, with his love by his side.
@@ThePlatineist Oh yes... Mythal, the person who Solas was *obsessed with* (romantic or otherwise) all his life, and before, finally gives him permission to be with Levallen... how romantic...
@Pesztike66 What exactly is the difference between Solas and some retainer serving their lord faithfully? Also an old friend, the only other like you that you actually like (unlike Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain) from a world no one remembers, like your childhood friend from a country that is suddenly wiped off the map, and then you reunite elsewhere. Wouldn't you cling to them? The only person who knows your frame of reference, the world you came from? Add to it that you tried to bring that old world back, because you feel responsible for its destruction, because you miss it, because you made the world worse and no one sees that. So you kill the only person that truly knows you in the hope you have enough power to repair it and restore that world so that at least you can undo that damage and so that friend that you sacrificed won't be sacrificed for nothing. No matter who tells you it's okay, no matter how much you love that person, only the word of a person who has been there from the beginning and seen it all, knowing the extent of what you did could have enough weight to persuade him. Nothing to do with romantic feelings.
@@ThePlatineist I'm aware of everything you wrote. I don't care if they were romantically involved or not. If Mythal was his literal mom or sister or friend or whatever, I'd still find his obsession off-putting and weird and this ending lame and unfullfilling and humiliating for the Inquisitor. Solas being Mythal's lapdog (or retainer as you put it) = lame. That's it.
This game is filled with shitty writing and characters, yet in a rare bit, actually grabs at the heart and makes you think back to the past. Also helps to have music that pulls on your heartstrings
This is the only aspect of the game that invokes something players strongly connected with in the previous games. That's why despite hating so much of the game, as soon as it was all about Solas again I felt like I was there for it.
Thank you, now I don't have to support this shit of a final to dragon age. RIP Solas and Lavellan. Waited 10 years for Dreadwolf. Got Veilguard instead 😢
I think they changed the name not to highlight rook and the team, but to hint at another game because there's a secret ending where the true threat and reason why the history played out as it did is coming to take over
wait, HUH? The Inquisitor did NOT say Solas was important to her...uh oh? LOL I swear I chose him and to save him when I was making my Inquistor noooshoottttt that didn't work
There's also a letter in the miscellaneous section of the codex from solas to our inquisitor 🥺
When 😮
@@TheRandomKady It appears immediately after you meet with the inquisitor the second time.

I’m not crying…it’s just raining in my eyes
literally the most beautiful love story in any videogame I've ever played 😭 inky and solus 5ever

Right?! We've been in solavellan hell for 10 years! We needed this ending. 😊
very confident to stroll in, wear PJs, when fighting your ex. Very badass

There is a letter from him to Lavellan that you can find in the codex where he tells her how he feels!
Seriously 😭 I feel like my Inquisitor is a stalker he can't shake off. It's like he's even running into the Fade to get away

The writing has its moments, but the story is what matters. I agree, the tone pulls at the heart quite a bit
Agreed
Agreed, it starts very good... then the middle that is a wet fart... just to end incredibly good. Wtf?

well said
Why do you think it’s shit if you haven’t played it?
It's fun game. It's not perfect but it's still enjoyable. People are idiots calling a game shit when they haven't played it.
Loser
