    The 1996 model FH16 Volvo I drive in Tasmania, Australia for Searoad Logistics has 1.8 million original kilometres on the clock with no rebuild on Volvo's own engine, gearbox or axles. They're a bloody good truck 👍

    This is what I like about Australia, you can get the best of both worlds, European and also American trucks.

    • @sheacole2
      @sheacole2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      +Ta. Tariku So if American truck are shit
      how come they are being imported in other contries then
      Its nice to see American & European trucks workin together

    • @sheacole2
      @sheacole2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ta. Tariku Who give a shit
      The reason most have a hood is because Flat face if the engine Blows up your Fucked by shrapnel & if u get hit in a Head on collision the Steerin wheel get into your stomach leavin u trapped in the driver seat also "Hooded trucks u have a higher chance of gettin out alive ...Also People have to understand that new technology isn,t always the way to go & today,s trucks are Fuckin SVU,s with their automatic bullshit that,s not a real truck if u want a Real truck buy one with a stick. There,s video of the older trucks still puttin work believe me a older truck will outlast these Fuckin ass SUV,s trucks today..... There,s nothin wrong with Americam/Europe truck workin together to get your shit to point A to point B
      Soo sad that many Warrin shit ahout American truck is this & that
      if i were to get a American truck imma Built it tough with a Fuckin Caterpiller V8

    • @sheacole2
      @sheacole2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Ta. Tariku To set your point straight there,s is no "Best" trucks so your comment is fuckin irrelevant

    • @sheacole2
      @sheacole2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ta. Tariku ill prefer it with a 18 speeed stick & a Hood US Converted
      Thats why ill Build a American truck Tough for anything US roads have to throw me & Volvo fh16.... Give me one so i can convert it into US & Minus the Computer gimmicks

    • @sheacole2
      @sheacole2 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ta. Tariku The reason why the trucks in America doesnt have high cabs because of 12-7 bridges & tunnels
      I prefer the Midroof & short hoods
      Like i said Both Murican & Europe trucks ill built it tough to handle the US conditions A stratosphere Sleeper will look nice on a US converted FH16
      Oh and American shifts their trucks like shit & Fuck weight laws & Emissions shit Murican trucks were supposed to be built Tough for The conditions & 40+ tons loads

    Unfortunately as an Aussie you won't get much chance to get behind one of these unless you're working for a Giant global company or are an owner driver. Most fleets are still from the 80s. No one in our economy has the money to upgrade a full fleet unless they're a 100 million dollar corporation.

  • @gm16v149
    @gm16v149 11 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    That was a very professionally made and entertaining video. However, if you are going to be driving roadtrains in the outback you need a good quality bull bar because of the wildlife out there.
    That truck was hooked up to a B-Triple with a legal length of 36.5 metres, but Simon's Transport in Brisbane are running 120 tonne 53.5 metre long full-size triples to Darwin with their Volvos.
    One disadvantage with the latest Volvo is that you can't get the extended sleeper like on the earlier models?

    There is AdBlue on the main inter-city highways Patrick, but in the outback the service stations are a long way apart. Most road train trucks hold about 2,000 or more litres of fuel, but the newer trucks which use AdBlue generally have larger AdBlue tanks than than you have in Europe. Not all that many trucks use AdBlue here at the moment but that will change.

    A cab-over-engine road train without a bullbar!? In Australia that's called suicide. You hit a camel or a big roo - and it'll take out all those "ground breaking innovations". Together with that shiny bumper and the HUGE radiator. And you will sit there for days on top of that cutting edge technology thinking, WHY didn't I just buy a 1995 Kenny.

    • @dabuuug8682
      @dabuuug8682 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jan Schlossar Australia has the largest natural camel population in the world

    • @dabuuug8682
      @dabuuug8682 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jan Schlossar They act a lot like deers. They just stop in the middle of the road in the outback. Same as kangaroos

    • @dabuuug8682
      @dabuuug8682 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jan Schlossar If you tried to feed them (I never have) you would probably get bitten. But most of the camel incidents happen at night when the road is pitch black and you can barely see 100 meters in front of you

    • @dabuuug8682
      @dabuuug8682 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jan Schlossar They are there for for the kangaroos than the camels. The Red Kangaroos have been known to take out engine when hit by trucks. They are big boys.

    My first Vovo was a F16 Globetrotter with 485hp and that was a great Truck already. What always bothered me on the FH Model was the limited space inside the Cabin, caused by the angled front part.There was a huge difference compared to the DAF XF or Scania R Model. On the new FH that seems to be changed and that makes the Cabin way more Driver friendly. In Germany there are laws how much Space a Dog Kennel has to be and that is way more than a Trucker has on Space in a European Truck.

    Hit a camel in the middle of nowhere and it's good night.
    This is spot on for tarmac roads, but venture off them and you need an old yank. No computers or electronics to go wrong when the nearest town is 1000 k away.

    Had seen many Volvo truck on that road. They make great trucks and cars(especially the older cars by 20+ years). And that road, the Gore Highway between Toowomba and Millmerran, is a rough one once you pass Pittsworth from the bottom of the hill to Millmerran(flood affected road). The trucks, they seem lumber over it quite well, even the 3 trailer road trains(3 full trailers). Cars on the other hand, we almost bounce off the road.. lol.. shit it's rough and bouncy. At least it was back in 2017, it's likely still the same, it's was rough in 2009 too. That's Queensland! 🤣

    Great video Brian, nice to see you on the road. Did you use your own crew or hire an
    Aussie film crew? They always produce great film work over the ditch. Greetings from "R580NZ" in New Zealand :)
