the way Jon went and helped Steve and his team evacuate the shop before devastating floods really opened my eyes to the world and showed me what humanity can accomplish when we use our heads for the right job.
I agree with that entirely. Here's a counter though. He saw his drivers were tired, frustrated, and worn out from a long and problem filled trip. He was fresh minded and relaxed. He stepped in, yes a little rude, doesn't look good to someone not in trucking, to me as a trucker myself, that's good. He saw potential for a problem, made a decision and acted before it could happen.
This takes me back. Late 90’s and early 00’s I was working for UGL (A Goninan & Co at the time) we used to load up NR Class locomotives on the Saturday mornings for road moves. Then we had triples with 3 ore cars for moves from Perth to up north twice a week. Was good helping to load them with the cranes. I do miss it but I’m working my way through the jobs to be a road train driver now.
@ it’s amazing to see how far things have come in some respects but stayed the same in others. We never moved the loco’s with a single truck. Always had 2 block trucks for the drive from Perth to the far north of the states. So seeing them being done now with one it shows how far they have come power wise.
the restored truck is ready to go on the road. boss john is a true leggend and man wich is able to do witn trucks. they can even move to big tran's sections trhu 500 km. will the restored mack haul a heavy cargo in the next ep?
I have worked for bosses like that, emotional attachment to granddads trucks , the problem is that drivers have to live in them , if you like the old school gear , as I do , use them on local runs , pick up and shuttles If you live in a prime mover you want a big bunk , integrated, fridge freezer and icepack Jobs are competitive these days, drivers can pick and choose
10:45. the vest says Mc ALeese on it. Thats the company Jon Kelly let buy half the shares in HHA, that company went bust and JOn placed HHA into voluntary administration. BAD DECISION JON
Jon find yourself an old mechanical Mack RD 882SX e9 V8 500 with a Maxitorque T2180 18spd and a 4 spd brownie box and call it a day these new trucks ain’t worth a SHIT Jon can’t beat an Old Bull Dog Mack
Who would want to work for someone that has no people skills and take all the glory in front of others,if that was me the driver i would have left that locomotive in the middle of australia😂😂😂
Not completely sure where but the railway system is shit here in Aus. There are different track gauge width from state to state and often they stop at the borders. A lot of the old track systems were built by states and territories with no where near enough forethought put in back in the day . We don't have extensive train systems throughout the country. Up north of where I live in Queensland the sugar cane properties have sugar cane trains which run a different gauge again to any freight or domestic trains. To go by train you'd have to load it on some freight trains stopping intermediately to swap over to semi trailers where there is no train tracks. It would take twice as long and make it twice as hard. We just don't have the infrastructure to make it a worthwhile proposition 😊
He sold the company then it went to shit & went bankrupt so he bought it back & kept the HHA name just changed the word on one of the H so instead of Heavy haulage its Huge haulage or something
But John ya sayin ya the best in Australia and number 2 in the world ya said ya said ya said in the owner driver. I'd wouldn't give ya a rail contract...slimey wee man. Why they don't just just tow em on rails..
Good on the boys for being professional and persevering through all the problems on the locomotives journey. What did you enjoy most about the ep?
Lovely
Jon's trucks for his grandpa was the best part ❤
"No people skills" is bang on from what i've seen in this and other clips.
Great drivers, not just for their skills behind the wheel, but also their capacity to endure Mr Kelly.
They put up a lot for the love of the job!

Love Brad‘s eye rolling at the task force situation
All us Truckies have been there
He would be the worst boss ever......showing his driver up like that.....
I was thinking the same, he needs to do a course on people skills.
Or imagine this… made for tv drama…
Yea probably a toothless tiger

I know it’s not good for the drivers and should let them but at the end of the day they don’t have his company’s name and reputation on the line

Enjoyed the video.. excellent 👌
No 3400 kilometers to far to travel by road for Jon so he flew from Brisbane to Perth & back .

Well. He might wrong but he's always the boss.
That impossible control freak of a boss should win an award as the WORST people manager on earth
No wonder he went bust
Once you overheat a big diesel engine usually there trashed can’t take a lot of heat the old mechanical diesels where a lot better than the crap today
Are you serious. Modern diesel engines have much more protection via their ecm and derate the engine until the temp is back in range.

Why not deliver by train or use the rails!?

Lol why put a rail loco on a truck??? Just run the locos buy rail. Easy peasy
Well it is cause australias Railnetwork is not so big i think
The kind of boss you would love to ko no people skills a pure narcissus john kelly
I wouldn't trust Jon with an empty colander let alone people.

What rails. Unless things have changed last time I checked it was pretty hard to change the width of the wheels on the trains
