I see your point as a saxophonist(though I think every musician can see this). The fact that he doesn't hyperventilate right than and there is a fucking miracle. I couldn't do it. Leo P is a Legend!
Idk, I am a tenor and all so I respect that dancing part I could never do but like I am only a freshman and idk how low a works and all which I think he plays here idk but for me it is quite easy to take a breath between those notes, especially because he doesn't need to take deep breaths because that would be worse for him. You see, when you take deeper breaths like that in between notes, your body needs you to inhale again for oxygen and most times if you have deep breaths there, you're going to end up with too much air and you will not be able to exhale properly which will affect his body and his head too much. Not saying I am better, just wanted to point out a few facts I believe and I am up for a disproof Edit: although it is entirely possible that the extra air would go to helping him move, considering that I never play while moving like that so I wouldn't know 0.0
Leo P is absolute FIRE. Sure. But Christian Scott's is just the coolest glass of water ever, and it's that contrast that absolutely makes it work. Scott's trumpet is exactly what you need after Leo's sax.
Honestly, same. Not because of the metaphor inherent in this being fire, but because that legitimately seems like something that he would try to figure out how to work into the performance.
But lets not forget the two other members of TOO MANY ZOOZ: Matt Doe and David "King of Sludge" Parks. They deserve credit for how good the group is. Listen to the horn player of this orchestra, he cant do shit compared to David.

Christian Scott and Leo Pellegrino are both absolute machines. Edit: Every single musician in that show were amazing, that's one of the best performance I've ever seen.
There’s a rumor that due to a transportation issue, Leo P. missed most or all of the dress rehearsal so this really was hits first time out with this group. I’m liken to believe that as the second he steps out and starts hitting his moves with his horn the conductor starts smiling like he had absolutely no clue what was happening but loved it.
Now that you mention it, everyone else was literally just sitting there enjoying his soloing while probably wondering what the hell had just happened haha
He said he only rehearsed it once, they were aware of what he'd do. He actually didn't have anything to wear he got that suit the day of the performance and had to buy the shirt and stuff hours before the performance, all he had was the boots. It was funny that he was more concerned about his wardrobe than actually performing, he knew or was confident he'd kill it the whole time.
@@gilbertoflores7397Leo is a fashion queen, I’m not surprised he was concerned about his outfit. His style is amazing, I love how he’s not afraid to wear stuff people might consider feminine or girly.
The number of 64th notes which Leo strung together from 6:24 - 6:26 is absolutely insane! Then he follows that up with notes above the octave range of the Bari is just as insane.
He didn't sing/play those with his tongue, look closely at his right hand, he is trilling with D/F keys (the top two) while switching his laft hand between A -> C and A -> C# EDIT: i read the comment wrong, he said "strung" not "toungue" also how did i comment this a month ago, i swear its been so much longer
Hats off to the percussionist.. truly a sign of a great musician to play with such control and give so much life to the performance without taking the spotlight
I never heard of Leo till I caught this. So impressed with him as a showman. That Bari is heavy, & he tosses it around like a toy. Mingus' Moanin is serious music, and he done the great one proud. The orchestra is huge - the classics crowd isn't used to swinging. Most important, the audience dug it and that opens minds to jazz and Mingus. Leo had a vision and he paid his dues. He's arrived. Update: Rock jazz? Leo makes sax - bari no less - cool.
I first saw him years ago, performing on the streets, and now this... I'm quite certain he will go quite far, he should, he's meant to... unless world is a real shitty place.
Some say that the amount of oxygen in Leo's lungs is equivalent to the amount of oxygen in the universe & if you convert the amount of energy he has during a performance into electricity, it could power everything on the Earth until the end of time
That smile partly came from having his solo cut short and him not being ready for it but still pulling through like a champ. Originally the solo is 24 bars long, you can even see in the back ground the upright bassist calls 4 bars until the end to the conductor, but the conductor finishes it right away throwing the drummer off guard. They all played it incredibly and we a good sport about it.

Idk, I am a tenor and all so I respect that dancing part I could never do but like
I am only a freshman and idk how low a works and all which I think he plays here idk but for me it is quite easy to take a breath between those notes, especially because he doesn't need to take deep breaths because that would be worse for him.
You see, when you take deeper breaths like that in between notes, your body needs you to inhale again for oxygen and most times if you have deep breaths there, you're going to end up with too much air and you will not be able to exhale properly which will affect his body and his head too much.
Not saying I am better, just wanted to point out a few facts I believe and I am up for a disproof
Edit: although it is entirely possible that the extra air would go to helping him move, considering that I never play while moving like that so I wouldn't know 0.0
Cocaine XD
As a 4 year saxophone player, no. That wouldn’t be that hard. And he’s probably been playing for at least 10 years.
Leo P is absolute FIRE. Sure. But Christian Scott's is just the coolest glass of water ever, and it's that contrast that absolutely makes it work. Scott's trumpet is exactly what you need after Leo's sax.
Leo is the cream of the "freaky ass white boy" crop
I'm honestly surprised that actual flames didn't start spewing out of his saxophone, that was absolute f*cking fire
Honestly, same. Not because of the metaphor inherent in this being fire, but because that legitimately seems like something that he would try to figure out how to work into the performance.
He breathe the oxigen made for the flames to produce more notes

He deserves MOAR, he's soooo good.
But lets not forget the two other members of TOO MANY ZOOZ: Matt Doe and David "King of Sludge" Parks. They deserve credit for how good the group is. Listen to the horn player of this orchestra, he cant do shit compared to David.

@@ermeack improv
Jazz is really the right music for the improv. But even so, the drummer was a hero for backing him up.
@@gilbertoflores7397Leo is a fashion queen, I’m not surprised he was concerned about his outfit. His style is amazing, I love how he’s not afraid to wear stuff people might consider feminine or girly.

The confidence and aggressive energy as he strides into the stage is incredible
The Band itself sounds better actually, this orchestra gig doesn't do the music justice that T.M.Z does.

That smile partly came from having his solo cut short and him not being ready for it but still pulling through like a champ.
