Well the problem is, this dock does not support 144 hz at 4k, its only 60hz. My MacBook Pro has 3 thunderbolt ports. Two of them are used to connect two 144hz displays. And one is used to extend the number of ports. It cannot be done with this dock. It uses 2 thunderbolt slots and splits the bandwidth among other slots, so you end up at 60hz.Its not acceptable for me.

it's nice, but no 10gbe was a deal breaker, owc dock pro has 10gbe and cost less, and 1 port only needed. and i use on the pc, with 33ft of optical cable.
quite expensive. only one monitor for Macbook Air M1 or similar. better get one with displaylink chip in it. this will allow us to have hardware accelerated dual monitor for Air M1.
Nice review. Is the charging speed the same compared to using the standard power brick / magnetic cable adapter that comes standard with a Mac laptop?

Thanks for the great review! That is a lot of ports which is amazing, BUT just personal opinion, it should be illegal for any new dock these days that advertise as "max" and "for professional" yet doesn't have a 10Gb Ethernet port. Especially for the price point. The OWC Thunderbolt Pro Dock is still the only option and cheaper, but has significantly less usb ports.
just add a 10gb adapter in one of the zillion ports
@@bitkahuna oh? The OWC or the QNAP Thunderbolt to 10Gbe are the only two options I know of that are generally accessible, and both units are about half the price of this dock itself. Versus, a decent 10Gbe chip for the Ethernet port would be a few dollars max for iVANKY to integrate it natively into this dock.
I know it is technically easily achievable. What I am not personally impressed with is the laziness of just making a dock that's just like any other docks on the market already and call it "Pro" etc..
A commenter is worried about no 10 GBS port. Actually, the 2.5 GBS port is limited to less than 1 GBS throughput for a 2023 MacBook Pro M3. If is likely and out of date driver issue, but the company shows no interest in fixing the issue. There is no sign of actual technical support. If you are just worried about extra monitors, the unit is probably OK. If you need over 1 GBS Ethernet, you should look elsewhere.

dock total overkill on an air
