The term "aggression" is clearly misunderstood here. It is not about fish's predatory nature and the size of the fish. Even a small fish can be quite aggressive and some big fishes are peaceful. Fish of aggressive nature do bully other fish and territorial. They do not need to view other small fishes as food.

  • @svtcontour
    @svtcontour 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Mistaking feeding with aggression. They are not the same thing. Eating something doesnt make it aggressive. I'm not aggressive when I eat carrots LOL.
Aggressive fish would be fish like:
-Some cichlid varieties such as Midas, Jaguar, Dovii, Umbee, Texas, Butikoferi
    -Black shark (Labeo)
    -Black Piranha
    -Jardini arowana
    ..etc...

Big mouth opportunity eater predators I think are confused in this video as Aggressive. Oscars, Gar, Red Tail Cats...actually docile, compared to actually Aggressive predatory fish. Aggressive fish like Dovii, Red Devils, Umbies etc. just kill, not out of opportunity, but because it's in their nature that they are territorial as well.

I used to have a 12" Green Terror that would flare his gills out at me. He watched me more than I watched him. He was like a mean dog. When I went up to the tank was when he would flare his gills out. As I darted from one end to the other he would chase me and learned not to hit the glass. He would make eye contact with me too. Thank You Sinto. At the beginning of the list, These fish
    will eat absolutely anything that
will fit in their mouth, no joke.
Toward the end, These fish don't
worry about whether or not it
fits in their mouth; whatever it is,
    they simply tear it up.
I love guppies. And I love tiger fish.

Title should be Top 10 predatory aquarium fish..
Predatory fishes are peaceful in general when kept with same size fishes even gars, red tail catfish and arowana can be kept with large koi fish.
Aggression and predation are different thing. In term of aggression level, little jewel cichlid can beat all fishes in this video.
And spawning male dovii cichlid will kill any fish in his territory unless the opponent is 3 times bigger than dovi but still doubt that dovii will not attack... Now this is what i call true aggressive fish. Like cichlids any fish which make territory are aggressive in nature.

Piranha are week. Dropped two big ones in my 75 gallon with a large and seasoned mated pair of convicts.
Did this on a bet back in college. My neighbor was talking crap about the size of gold fish ( larger than my Convicts ) that his fish were eating. He had seven beautiful red bellied piranha in a 240gallon tank. It was amazing (his folks were wealthy). Anyways, he picked two of his piranhas to “eat” my old convict cichlids on a bet between my room mate and him.
One Friday night he brought his piranha over. Our was source was exactly the same and our temp were within 2 degrees, so after a quick acclamation to the water, we dropped the two piranhas in the tank. At first the Puranas cruised the tank has the smaller cichlids swim for cover. Then a piranha crossed into the boundary of where the female convict was protecting her eggs... it was on!
As she confronted the intruder, the male convict came out of no where and smashed the piranha in the gill, biting and swimming quickly away. As the piranha turned to retaliate the female attacked from the rear. She chased the piranha clear across the tank, corralling the other piranha too. Within 15 minutes both piranhas were cornered and kept at bay. What initially looked as though the larger piranhas were going to keep the convicts hiding for their life, turned into a may-lay of attacks, quick burst and retreats that ultimately prevailed.
Things could drastically been different if my convicts were not a mated pair (team mates), or if the convicts lost “home tank” advantage. I felt fairly confident in my fish. I had been raising them for years and knew how tenacious they could be.

Piranha lack intelligence, Cichlids on the other hand, researchers are still learning and discovering how intelligent and complex their social behaviour is. They have now discovered that Cichlids watch each other and have the ability to learn other fishes weaknesses and strengths. They hid to watch them and attacked when they figured out how to successfully. Something that piranha are incapable of.

Red belly piranha are only aggressive if you have a ton of them or have them in a round tank so the cant hide. Otherwise they are pushovers that only hide. Bucktooth tetras and black piranhas are much more aggressive.

Such a dumb list. Oscars? Piranas in the top list? The payara aka vampire tetra eats red bellied piranas in the wild and it is their main food in the wild. A mature blob catfish, peacock bass, largemouth bass, giant snakehead, arapima and alligator gars can swallow piranas whole. Also you underestimated the dovii. They grow massive and you can't keep a mature male with anything except their mates. They can kill almost anything and piranas are no exception. But females can be kept with other cichlids but it too can be risky. Also arowanas and paroon sharks are not so aggressive as you think. And you said that oscars are "VERY" aggressive. No no! They are preety mellow and only aggressive in small tanks! They will leave their tankmates alone for the most part. Maybe you keep them in a way too small tank.

I used to have two piranhas with a gibbiceps in a black water tank. They loved prawns but the plec would always eat first. When the piranhas bred they built a nest and the change of colours to purple with gold flecks was amazing.

I think apart from these ‘predatory fish’, top aggressive fish in my experience would be African cichlids, Texas cichlids and a lot of other species from cichlid family.

I’m not saying Piranhas aren’t aggressive, but they are scavengers and mostly don’t eat things that are alive

Their have news of piranhas attacking humans in group. So a group of hungry piranhas are aggressive and dangerous as well.

@@SintoJoseph ive had red bellies there the upmost skiddish fish ive ever ownd always hideing afraid of the food so i put a red devil in there.... it killed 3 of the red bellies.... so i sold the remaining 3. they suck as aquarium fish and they definetly arent aggressive. If they are hungry they eat thats not aggression so if a huge pack of red bellies in the amazon is hungry and a bus falls into the water they get eaten but if a second one falls in theres a 98 precent chance of servivel for the people unless they drown
