The first story is so sad. Ricky really just wanted to share what was going on and needed someone to talk to, but maybe didn't project that in completely the right way. Hopefully he is doing better now. 🙂 The second story is quite funny, Marie was a savage 😂
It's kind of sad though that people ostracize someone who's simply depressed. Of course someone who's depressed is going to be whining and complaining all the time and being a Debbie downer. That's the type of person that needs someone to reach out to them and call them and be there to let them vent. It's okay sometimes to not be the one to talk and for it sometimes not to be an equal back and forth. Some people are in need. I'll be honest, I'm the kind of person that I may not have met him after work for drinks, but I would have given him my phone number and said call me later today so we can talk on the phone. He doesn't sound like a freak to me, he just sounds like someone who needed help, for crying out loud!
I always say there should be a restaurant reality show. Definitely don't miss working at one. Save that drama for your mama. Everytime some one would come to me with gossip I'd just walk away.
Love your storytimes! ♥ They are always so relatable, and bring to mind all the crazy things that have touched my life, and were buried by time :) You think restaurants have lots of drama? I worked in a public library for 30 years! LOL!!
Aloha, I happened across your channel the other day and I am hooked! I love your content and your vibe. Thank you for sharing so many relatable stories. Mahalo from Maui!
Love these stories Jacy! I've worked as a server at 4 or 5 different places and my least favorite thing is how unnecessarily mean and catty the other lady servers can be. There is always some type of drama. I miss being a server for the fast paced style of working but not for working with some of the people.
Hulu has a show called The Bear. I watched two episodes so far, it’s good , all about a small restaurant and it’s employees 👍🏻. Also I worked at a restaurant where the manager , married with 2 kids was having an affair with 2 waitresses! He was pitting them against each other so neither would become friends and possibly confide in each other. This went on for years😩
Most of my most dramatic coworker stories and work stories in general are from when I worked at Blockbuster Video back in the day. I feel like any job in customer service or hospitality is just overflowing with drama. I thought about doing my own storytimes about that drama. I mean everything from harassment, to mental illness, to robberies. It was nuts. Not to mention for a while I didn't have a car so I was walking to the bus at 2am and could hear coyotes nearby. Fun times.
I'm late to this story but it is so true. 25 years ago when I worked at lions restaurant one of the servers could do whatever she wanted and it just so happened New Year's Eve I went to the store and low and behold our manager who is married and that server both dressed to the nines holding hands in the supermarket buying alcohol and there was no room on On the floor for my mouth because both their mouths were wide open. super super tacky.
At my place one co-worker got another co-worker pregnant, then cheats on her with a new hire and gets her pregnant at the same time. Right after that, he gets promoted to management. Talk about jaw dropping at the Monday morning announcements. Talk about toxic work environment.
No there was lots of drama in corporate. I knew several players that made the rounds. Dated almost all the single women in the place. It was a game. Probably 20-30. I went on a date with a player. He was sleeping with a girl in my office. I worked 10ft from her. Lucky I didn't sleep w him. She was. He stared at me the whole dinner, like he couldn't wait to undress me. And he had to go thru the formality of a cheap dinner.
I think it’s important to put a trigger warning for the first story. Maybe to sign post people, who are struggling with their mental health, to resources that might be helpful to them :)
I watch your videos the whole time and i love them. But I dont agree with you on this one, the guy on the first story seemed like he needed help and had nobody to talk to, you could've helped him just by listening to him, you dont have to be his friend. Also, you can't say that it's okay and that you can't blame yourself because you are not alone and there were other people who didnt care to listen to him, it's not right even if other people were doing it. I hope he's in a better place in his life 💔
I think that was the point I was trying to make, that I could’ve done more in that situation and didn’t. So now I use it as a learning lesson to help others in the future by simply listening when they are showing similar signs. I don’t think we can expect everyone to do the perfectly right thing the first time, but we should learn from those experiences and do better the next time.
So glad you started your story times with the 1st one…. Glad again you named her Marie and not Maria. Alsooooo Nooo get away I don’t wana be your friend…your not that good at your job. Oooo waitttt your the other women! Sis Grl here please sit….let chat….would you like coffee? Coke? Nada okay….now spill the beans
Here's am little restaurant story. I was a bartender at a bar that had a lot of waitresses as regulars. They are THE BEST regulars. They tip great. Guys follow them in. It's wonderful! One of my regulars was a waitress was seeing a new guy. For some reason he wouldn't do the nasty with her. They would get hot and heavy and then, at the last minute, he would back off. He was also not a practiced drinker. I told her no problem. If she would tip me $20 I would make sure he got a little more under the influence than he realized. If she scored I would collect the $20. The next time they came in I served him screwdrivers with a Midori floater. I knew that the orange juice combined with the sweetness of the Midori would hide the taste of the alcohol. So I could make the drink as strong as I wanted and he wouldn't have a clue. She came in a couple nights later and handed me the $20. THAT is what a good bartender can do.

I hope so too, it was definitely a good lesson in looking for those signs as a bystander as well. Marie is a savage for sure hahaha

I totally agree, sometimes there are too many personalities that it definitely gets catty 😖 but I too miss the serving!!

Sophie that’s so scary! Drama I can handle, but robberies and being alone that late at night are definitely scary situations 😣
Your stories are the best! They remind me and compete w another story time user you MIGHT like! Nikki Glamour
I’ll check out her content!! But I appreciate the support ♥️♥️

He could have turned on you.
You did the right thing.
