Nah, it's that crease on his forehead from having to push those eyebrows to look assertive/serious to let his boy know not to play with his camera gear.
I've got this lens, it's loads of fun, but it really requires a good sized sensor to get the best out of it. Shifting images drops the sharpness a bit and, while you can easily bring it back in post processing, it's much better to have a high megapixel sensor to start with. I shoot on 24.6mp and I would call that the absolute minimum. But I do recommend this lens, its brilliant to play with and works great for architecture shots.
There's something magical about that focal length. I freaking love the Pedantax 15mm f4. Pocket size, close focusing, built in hood, reasonable sharp. Just change the cap for a plastic snap on one.
Hello and thank you for this great video. I recently have this Nikon F mount lens and I am surprised by one thing and would like to know if you have noticed too or if you have the explanation. When I modify the aperture setting (F4.5 / 22) I see the consequence directly in the viewfinder (the image darkens). I have another manuel lens and it is not the same problem. This is annoying when taking a photo in a dark place. thank you in advance
How come whenever I want to do photography at regents canal near kings cross I always get stopped by police? U guys are filming too with microphones etc...
Hi. I will buy a 15mm zero-d shift lens, but I don't know that the panorama shift lens support adapter is important for lughtroom or not.. Please help me. I don't want pay ca. 200 usd unnecessarily pay.
Tim's EOS R footage looks amazing compared to the A7RIII, I'm surprised by how nice the tonal range is compared, I imagine it's not the straight out of camera look.
Heh Kai, when are you next in Cambridge? I can lend you my 200mm f2 for a test on your Z5. Plus a 500mm F8 mirror - would be interesting to see how the IBIS copes with that! Just let me know..
Camera bodies with IBIS already include shift/tilt, but they haven't taken advantage of it outside of stabilization. But they could in the future. Obviously not to the amount of shift/tilt a dedicated lens has, but a little in-body shift or tilt for composition purposes could be an awesome feature. Can you tell the camera makers my idea? Maybe it could be a firmware update for Fuji? P.S. We know it can make some difference because we often see "wobble" in their stabilization. So even today's amount of IBIS shift/tilt is enough to matter. (My comment makes this idea public domain as of 3-Feb-2021, in case nobody has filed a patent yet.)
silly question: instead on tilting the camera upwards (causing the "buildings to lean"), couldn you not simple lift your camera upwards? what am I missing?
Anyone else tried this lens yet? I've seen mixed things on sharpness (corner drop off as Kai mentions is obvious, but overall is it OK or just kind of, meh?). I really like my PC nikkor 28mm but 15mm would be amazing!
Lovely Kai but when you gonna start catering for all those who cant afford the latest but make do with the "Ever Indistructable (NEVER)" 5D2 with a good old Jupiter 21M? Love your channel but cant afford to.... : )
The specific Laowa lens is new but is designed for dSLR cameras which one way or another will be obsolete soon. In the roadmap of Canon RF lenses there are autofocus tilt-shift lenses which is an achievement because until now all shift or tilt shift lenses are manual focus. Shift lenses fix the perspective distortion which is much stronger with wide lenses than normal lenses and is irrelevant to the geometric distortion (pincushion or barrel distortion). Shift or tilt-sift have much larger image circle than the image sensor. That usually reduces significantly their optical quality. Lenses with front bulbous element can't take easily a protective filter and are very prone to scratches. However recently many ultra wide lenses have appeared with filter thread like the Laowa 15mm f/2, the Nikon 14-30mm f/4 Z etc.
"Shift or tilt-sift have much larger image circle than the image sensor. That usually reduces significantly their optical quality. " - Actually its the opposite way. Enlarged image circle on TS lenses result in superb optical quality oven traditional lenses. I have them...
This is actually a really good addition I have this kind of trouble moving my camera in some situations. Now I can just move my lense and Job is done. Thanks for sharing mate.
It's pretty soft, you need to get the focus point right. And having a big sensor helps. At least 24mp, preferably 30 or 40 plus, so you can sharpen without it looking hard.
Hello would you consider being interviewed and contribute to a tribute video to matt ballard from art of the image. What I would like to do is a video highlighting some of matts content and having a few people say a few words about him on camera please let me know your thoughts if you would like to contribute I am reaching out to any one who knew him or followed him for many years if you would like to get involved. please get in touch contact me on my channel if your interested regards Paul.
Wearing a mask outdoors is just going to do more harm than good. In a pandemic / endemic you've got to stay healthy. Rebreathing your own viral load and CO2 is no use to anyone, especially you.
You can tell Kai's a dad now because of the way he's cradling that camera in his arms at the end, there.
he's also not dropping things quite as frequent too :D
Does that mean Kai's less likely to drop cameras or more likely to drop babies?
Nah, it's that crease on his forehead from having to push those eyebrows to look assertive/serious to let his boy know not to play with his camera gear.
@@JoriDiculous He dropped that lens cap in this video xD
"I have a sturdy tripoood... in my car" has me dying over here
I lost it at “If that was a Sigma cap, I’d probably just leave it” for some reason. I need some sleep.
Kai: "You got lock"
Camera man: "Where's Lok?"
Kai: "Not that Lok" XD
Lok should start a vlok.

You’ve just gotta love BIG GLEAMING BITS of KAI
Thank god not the BIG WRINKLY BITS of KAI
There's something magical about that focal length. I freaking love the Pedantax 15mm f4. Pocket size, close focusing, built in hood, reasonable sharp. Just change the cap for a plastic snap on one.
TWO camera people? Kai's moving up in the world!
So nice to see you using Nikon Z Series
Im glad you came back ive been watching you since 2009 and been into photography coz of your channel digital rev more power to you.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Favourite youtuber absolute legend and class
I got my Laowa 15mm shift EF-mount a week ago and use it on the Fuji GFX 50r, useable until 8mm of shift !!!! Awesome lens, i love it!
How many cameras are you going to drop before you get togged up with a Kackhanded Kai safety strap?,
Not panning, slewing.
think its mandatory to binge all kais new videos in a day
Does that rain get inside when you shift the lens?
How come whenever I want to do photography at regents canal near kings cross I always get stopped by police? U guys are filming too with microphones etc...
What canal is that Kai?

Which one should I buy sony a6500 and sony a7ii
How did you mounted the strap for the Leica sideways? Would love to do that on mine as well :)
What's the name of the small tripod?
Missing the days of Kai and Loki reviewing a heap of Canon gear 🥺 definitely had a high influence on what lenses I bought!
Get matti to 1 mill on his birthdays
Tim's EOS R footage looks amazing compared to the A7RIII, I'm surprised by how nice the tonal range is compared, I imagine it's not the straight out of camera look.
So its not 15mm? Only when merging shots?
God that shift mechanism looks amazing

Isn’t that a wobbly stabilisation?
Like a true Brit: filming in the rain
We all love Lok.

I'm still very confused about this lens. I'm sticking with my iPhone pano setting
silly question: instead on tilting the camera upwards (causing the "buildings to lean"), couldn you not simple lift your camera upwards? what am I missing?
Distortion im guesing
I think it was zoomed in so it just takes the top portion from the wide angle view not sure though.
mindgames how long are your arms?
@@officialWWM uh, that's a very personal question. I don't know if we are that close my dear Worlds Worst Musician. Though I like your name!
mindgames you're right, I should have taken you out to dinner first 😂
Do. NOt need 15 mm without distortion
Love from Uganda : thanks Kai
So it's like moving crop of a wider angle.

@4:52 I believe he was referring to a tracking shot ;)
soo
what hapened Deity mic?
i though that's better than Rode go lol
omfg 3 kai videos in a row, is it already 24.dec?
Hey Kai, what about Leica Q2 Monochrom...Yours is the only review I'm waiting for!!!
so are they going to sell a 15mm lens for mirrorless medium format cameras? as this must cover it? that would be epic
Is that a Z7 or Z6?
Kai taking a shift

Something I never knew I never wanted.
In this house we hit like *before* watching
There is new camera to review, let's wait a good weather in London to shot it.
Also good weather in London: What I can do is it, take it or leave.
Keep creasing that J3 bro :)
Bubble in the running
I see those Jordan retro 3's
Can't see Kai's backpack for some reason

Dont forget this lens is cheaper. And more universal than rf mount. The only mount can take rf lens is z mount and it was still in theory
This is actually a really good addition

GREETINGS FROM INDONESIA
Guess who's laughing now. Digital Rev TV hasn't done a video in about a year. Ohh yeah Laowa make great stuff for sure.
This is a cool lens 🤯, i only have a phone so i don't know so what do i know 😂
This lens is not that sharp at all
yes i agree...i actually downloaded full resolution file and check it in 100% view....disappointing !
@@B-water I had raw files from a friend and also downloaded some from dpreview, both look soft

@@keeperofthecheese You made a valid point, very sensible hardware setup + post treatment. In this case, it should charge at least 30 to 40% less.
You are too good for TH-cam space.
potential gash action on my bulbous front end...
I liked the Casey Neistat reference at 10:01
this tells that this guy is not a photographer but a gear tester.
When are you reaching 1million subs,,
why he is using a nikon?
leica lens cap, all worth it
Whata big load of new vids
love kai, but, for video ? gash lens! xD
Leica lens cap - falling for the very first time. Leica le-eh-eh-ens cap.
It’s pretty much a novelty unless it’s for a crop camera. The canon ts-e 17 is already too wide except for emergencies
Wow that vídeo came fast
Man, why do I get the top gear style of reviewing things,. Is that how Brits done this thing?
Leica cap > Sigma cap

This lens is...AWFUL
Pointless feature IMO
Shift is a useless feature, especially for stills.
Quite a lot of landscape and architecture photographers would beg to differ.
