Just did a build with 5 ARGB fans running off one header. Stress tested it for a long time. No crashes. Aorus B450 Elite V2. I did split the PWM between 2 headers though. LEDs don't draw a lot of power compared to the fan motor. Maybe if you have those ring light ones with a dozen LEDs in it...But those don't really belong in a budget build because they are more expensive. I buy Thermalright ARGB fans. About $15 after tax for 3 and they move more air and are quieter than Lian Li fans that sell for around $70 for three. Expensive stuff is for people who wrongly believe spending more money gets you a better product. You can buy a BMW or Mercedes. Won't be any more reliable than a Camry and will be way less efficient. I drive a Mk IV Jetta (Bora) VR6. It is an objectively better car than an entry level 3 series and was several grand cheaper. The 1 star rating is because people buy this thinking it is an ARGB controller. Some controllers are hubs but not all hubs are controllers.
Let me see if I've got this right. I connect my MB ARGB headers to the Mk IV Jetta (Bora) VR6 hub and then connect my LED strips and fans to the Mk IV Jetta (Bora) VR6?
Hi, Mike. Personally, I've come to like six pin ARGB Fan controllers because they only have a single wire for both FAN and ARGB. That makes for neater cable managing.
This is kind of useless IMO. If you have ARGB you want to address your fans LEDs. not give them all the same signal. That's why we moved away from RGB to get into ARGB. With this kit you are only getting 1 affect on all your fans rather than 1 affect passing through all your fans.
might have to invest in one of these, tried to hookup 6-argb fans to one motherboard header with a splitter cable and whilst it "worked" there has been times the rgb lights on one fan in particular gets stuck on a solid colour.. I have since re-shuffled things to lessen the strain, just a bit of a pain having to wire in a psu-sata cable for this, cannot stand lots of cables!
Hi Mike. Like the videos, interesting and informative, keep up the good work. I’d like to share with you and YT viewers something I recently discovered with ARGB hubs that may help if experiencing problems with. I discovered with my PC when connecting such hubs to the computer’s PSU my PC wouldn't start after fitting. After a lot of time checking and testing it turned out it was my motherboard make and design that was the issue. I’ve tried the hub in your video, and a couple of other makes, and all replicated the same problem of my PC failing to start with a hub connected to the PSU. Disconnected from the PSU no problems, disconnected from the ARGB header on the MB no problems. Seems that some motherboard makes / designs don’t like having 5v supply going onto the ARGB headers from a cable connected to it. Once I found what the problem was my solution was to use a two pin cable I made up to connect my hub to the ARGB header on my MB, thus removing the 5v supply from MB’s header going to the hub and of course preventing 5v from the hub going to the header. ARGB hubs powered by a PSU like the one in this video only need to receive ARGB signals from the MB to work and not any power from. I’d have thought all ARGB powered hubs would have been designed in such a way to prevent voltage flow back to the MB header by incorporating either a dedicated MB socket on the hub or a cable for this purpose, from my experiences and testing this apparently is not the case.
they need the active 5v to provide enough power for the connected LEDs a motherboard header power alone won't be enough and you will burn out the motherboard controller if overloaded
Great review, Mike! It really would have been nice to have the magnet mount - especially if you are not exactly sure where it will work in your case during the build. @@mikesunboxing Hope you find them, Mike. I love your reviews and thoroughness. Keep up the good work, sir
How many amps it holds?
i think it is listed in the product description section, i can't recall from the top of my head sorry
If my mobo don't have any 5v 3pin header ... Then this hub is not for me ... Right???
Yes that is correct
thanks bro
thanks for watching
will this work for rgb?
no just 5v argb
Reset tuşuna bağlanıyor mu
no it isn't just the ARGB from the motherboard
Rezey tuşuna bağlanıyor mu
no it isn't just the ARGB from the motherboard
So i think they should start calling these "splitters"
a splitter is normally a device that isn't self powered
I guess your video was a hit. They jacked the price up to $22 US.
try on ali express usually about £5 or look for a similar model there are a few around
Useless, money wasted. I don't have 3 pin connecter to the motherboard. What's the point if you already have power sata from psu. I have to buy another cable.
the connection should come with the hub
My Motherboard has a 4 pin ARGB header so I need a 4 pin connection then I can connect the 3 pin lights to the adapter?
there isn't a 4 pin ARGB header normally, that is for the older 12v RGB devices, they are not compatible with each other without an electrical adapter to reduce the voltage and change the digital signal to an analogue one
@@mikesunboxing Hi Mike thanks for getting back to me! You're right I was looking at the wrong connector. I have to RGB 4 pin and found the ARGB connector under the SATA plugs. I have the Asus 390F....and now all my lights are up and running. Thanks Mike!
