    💙💙💙 Enjoyed the heck out of your myth retelling, Narcissus gets a bad rep. And to think about how his mother coddled him in and hid him away so the curse of his beauty and attractiveness wouldn't cause trouble but it always seems to. Every dang time. lol.

    That was very interesting. Greek myths are so multi-layered psychologically, which probably is why they endure. Playwrights certainly knew that. I feel the basic Greek mythology we learned back in high school didn't do it justice. For example, the interpretations of the motives for the female characters seemed blind to the social imbalance in power. I mean, poor Hera. The archetype of an oddly disempowered woman -- always shooting the messenger in her rage against her emotionally abusive husband. I really liked your thoughts on Narcissus too -- his boundaries weren't respected, which left him somewhat powerless. Thanks for sharing this, Juli.
