    I'm waiting for him to be like, "Someone sent me this tool, I can't do anything with it, I make new one". Then he makes the entire tool from scratch.
    This is why you're the best IMHO.

    I watch a lot of these restoration channels on here, and yours is by far the best. No shitty music, no unnecessary speed-ups, the MacGyver-like knowledge of and access to tools, and the end result always looks like a piece of art. I dare say this is your best video yet. Keep up the good work!

I just watched another channel's restoration video and sure enough, I spent the whole time going "my mechanics would have sanded that way smoother" and "my mechanics would have fixed those holes properly." Every time I watch his videos, I am thinking the "right to repair" legislation process in USA, and how all industries has gone to idiotic situation that it is cheaper to buy s new one than repair a already produced but somewhat broken product.
      I spent my childhood in a schumacher shop and have lot of nice memories how people brought in their loved shoes, bags, gloves etc. All kinds made from leather etc. And it was so fascinating for young mind to see that how these items got a new life, and owners were happy about paying maybe 1/4-1/2 of the price of new ones, because they had value, fitted with other items or were wear so that they did fit.
      As well I spent my childhood times in the farm where you didn't throw anything away, you stored all kinds materials because sooner or later you could reuse them to fix something. And you fixed lot of tools, rebuild devices and created new tools for the need, because there was no time to go to another city to buy something, and it just was not worth to pay for something that you could fix yourself.
      I respect those who can do lot of things with their hands. That are ready to put extra effort to repair things.
      And it is somewhat sad to see that so many people don't anymore even value that restoration will make the item more valuable.

      @@Xalashaska It seemed to be what occurred here. The main parts were re-made. The old parts are really pretty simple. More of a re-make than restoration. In my opinion.

    • @Xalashaska
      @Xalashaska 5 ปีที่แล้ว +170

      NoLord but you’re arguing about the tools he made not being better then the tools he used to make them. which is true but not the point, weather it’s restoring or remaking the point is for us to see what these old tools looked like in their prime not to out-do or compete with current technology.

    • @ThereIsNoLord
      @ThereIsNoLord 5 ปีที่แล้ว +75

      @@Xalashaska I wonder how many other people think that's the point of these restoration videos. I like watching this kind of video just to see what is in fact possible with modern technology, despite the fact that using a CNC to make parts for a rusty re-bar cutter is very wasteful. Sometimes it is interesting to note than an old item is so well made that it can be restored. However, that was not the case with this tool. My favorite of his videos is the micrometer. An old rusty precision instrument with lots of precise pieces brought back to life. I get less excited by sanding and polishing a giant wrench is a mirror shine. What bothers me is that people seem to think doing this kind of thing is a productive activity, when it so clearly isn't. But all that being said, for demonstration purposes, there is a certain kind of interest in watching these transformations occur. And you're certainly free to disagree.

    Just found your channel a couple of days ago. This is amazing and I'm in awe of your skills with not only your restorations, but also with talent you have with not only using the tools you use to restore whatever you are showing us. Your ability to make tools to help you with issues like removing stuck bolts, new cutting edges and even making new bolts, screw, washers, and the like is mind blowing. I kind of wish I took shop classes when I was in high school, cause even though this is clearly a lot more hard work and time then what we see, seeing the quality of your craftsmanship in the end result, must be rewarding. Thank you for showing us the skills, techniques, and end result of your restoring pieces of human history. How no matter how old something is, how broken down it looks, that with time, effort, the right tools, understanding proper methods, that these items can be restored and still be used today. Makes you wonder how much stuff in the land fields wouldn't be there if they just had more people like you able to restore these items and show how useful they still could be.
    Keep up the great work. Very much enjoying your craftsmanship.

      I assume air blasters are quite expensive and that looks to be mostly plastic and rubber, not his preferred area of expertise.
      If something works well enough, then perhaps he’s fit to leave it alone and focus on fixing what is definitely not.

    Brings back fond memories. When I was working a road crew, we had one if these in a toolbox on one of the trucks. Quite a bit bigger than that one, and had a ratcheting jaw. We used to bolt it to the bumper on the work trucks, and use it to cute 16 or 20 foot long sections of rebar for doing bridge work
