- In this video, we cut out and paint the brand new Formula E Gen2 body. It's a stunning but challenging replica with many parts that all need to be cut out and bolted together. It would be nice if guest speakers would be invited to RC kicks who actually race the car to win to get there view on Mods. Or, there are people out there who are just excell at painting techniques on clear bodies. Usually they really have NO idea how good they are. How to meet these folks is hard. I usually walk into the knowledge by mistake and find out this guy or girl is a wealth of untapped information. I found this out while spraying 2 part epoxy paint. A guy came by and said "have you tried?" and it turns out he's been paint spraying years.
I am late to the party. Your videos were a big help for me to avoid problems.

This will be my 1st time with polycarbonate body and paint. Is there any time you can spray over the paint all ready applied for a different effect. Or paint an area first and then paint again for a different effect using mask without pulling off the paint applied?
15 mins between each layer of the same colour. If you are masking over a painted area, give it 12 hours to go off.

The first video of yours I watched just after receiving my Tamiya F201. What an amazing car full of stunning detail. Fortunately mine came with the parts you said yours was lacking (barger boards and the swept rear body with the extended floor boards). Obviosly mine was used too. It came with an electric motor but nothing else. I' assuming I need an ESC, a reciever and a controller. Any suggestions?

Once again Gavin you did a really good job . The cutting out on that body would of drove me nuts . I like how you have the patience to cut and smooth all of those lines. That’s not an easy job . Great video .

My money's on the Kyosho for the simple fact that it has different tires the tires make the whole car it's what makes the car the car those foam tires are going to be really fast and if you have a good brush set up with a lipo you already hit 30 the only thing is if you could put more power into the into the Tamia because it has a better speed control but I bet you those tires are awful I really like gun metal it's a cool color my next RC is going to be Brown I haven't did a brown RC yet yeah and I feel you on the kit I kind of got so mad that I didn't never want to do a kit again but after I was finished and was so proud of myself now I'm looking forward to do my next kit. thanks gavin

Yes the TC-01 is good for speed runs. The issue is you are limited on ESC space to if you want to go really fast I think you will run out of space. Obviously if you run a different body you could gain extra space that way. Motor mount is adjustable. 👍🏻

did you use PS paint for the helmet/halo molded plastic parts as well? how did it turn out?
Hi, I used PS paint on the hard body parts and then used normal car clear over the top. I had no issues at all and it worked well. I will try a few bigger parts like this and see if that works.
definitely upgrade the wheels to a custom aluminum set and some good grip tires when racing it on speed runs, the stock wheels and tires don't look and feel that great and could be better.!
I like the look of the stock rims but I agree. Also the rear are too thin
Where have you seen these? Up grade parts wheels and so on are on the hard side to find.
i just picked mine up 2nd hand, body already assembled, i already sent it and crashed a few times, not too worried, now i know what i have to deal with if i break it lols
