These will be extremely helpful videos to learn from. I have an '92 Bayliner Classic Cuddy that floods when the drive is trimmed up and isn't consistently starting. Had to be towed last time out.

good afternoon, im having a problem with out boat its a 90 bayliner mercruiser with DDIS system. when we are in the water for 1 hour or so while driving it just turns off. then i check and. i have no spark and my coil is really hot. was checking everything and once it cooled down it starts right up
@@FishingWithJo415 Thanks for watching, any update? Your coil shouldn’t be getting hot. It’s normal for it to be ever-so-slightly warm as it’s directly connected in a location that’s close to engine and stuck inside under the inboard engine cover where the heat can rise when engine is running… however, again, it should not be HOT… It’s likely that the coil is in its early stages of failure, and will soon overheat to a point of no return. Replacing it is a great idea and we have added a link to our Ignition Coil replacement video below. th-cam.com/video/PAc0cAYeY_c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yMm-m5p0pH0DP2L_ In addition, link below shows replacement of plugs and wires. th-cam.com/video/-qStXfk5Zak/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EDR21dfB6kITEACJ Keep us posted. 😁👍🧰
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Thank you for the reply back, Im going to check all my grounds and another thing my RPM gauge stopped working its stuck on 800, no matter if the boat is on or off. i read that can make my coil overheat
@@FishingWithJo415 We are happy to help. It might be a faulty gauge as opposed to a loose connection point. Since it’s completely stationary on 800rpms…it’s likely seized.
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders yeah im pretty sure it just did that and im getting 10 volts at start up and 12 volts when running. ima have to check the voltage coming out of my alternator that can be the problem

When I grew up a majority of engines still used points, I learned how to setup points and check dwell using a meter, great video Michael 👍😁
Thanks Dave, the very next video in the Que will be setting point gap. 😁👍
What about the cap gasket? Don't marine engines require a gasket to seal/ protect from moisture?
I love ur videos. Very informative. Keep up the great content. Much love from Maryland❤❤❤.
