Beautiful demo. You really made music with it instead of just tweaking every knob all the time. This was one of the most convincing clips of what rs-505 is capable for 👍
This is an amazing demo of this fantastic machine. Warm, moving, evocative ... this piece is a wonderful testimony of the mindblowing sound quality of the RS 505. I own one myself and this is my favorite stringer by a big distance ... the bass is so dawn deep and blends to perfection with the richness of the strings. I am deeply admirative of your talent and Kudos for your mastery of this goddly machine !
So beautiful, is there any chance that you will be doing a series of in depth demo/review/tutorial on each facet of the RS-505, I would love to see that?
I've got one of these bad boys, I bought it in '93 for $150 and loved the big bass sounds and trippy pink floydesque oscillators, but didn't really like the strings side, I was wrong they so lush. Anyone tell how much these are worth? Not gonna sell it, still love it too much.
Not cheap, but absolutely capable of recreating those sounds: Nord Wave 2 or Nord Lead A1 because of their perfect ensemble effect. A combination of Streichfett and a filter could also do it. But I managed to create my best strings emulation on Synth Master One for iPad. After some tweaking of the ensemble parameters it can get incredibly warm and creamy - nearly as a Hohner String Melody. Greetings from a german stringmachine collector n🇩🇪🤝
those pads are the beauty of the old string machines from yore. Nothing really comes close to it in terms of simplicity and no-nonsense gear fiddling [i'm all for digital synths, but the simplicity of these old string machines is what makes them winners]. When paired with effects such as delay and reverb you can get lost in ambient making for days. Very immersive and "alive" [if I may use that term].
David Definitely the mellotron is still being used by artists and bands in record studios all around the world. Something about recording to tape is just magical. I saw one edm producer Legowelt who had the mastering technique of recording his final mix from his computer into an old Tascam mixer with a tape recorder to add some of the analog warmness to the track.
Roland is introducing 2 new synthesizers on the 20th of June this year. I truly hope they will expand their Boutique range with an SH-01/SH-10, a JP-80/JP-88 or this beauty, the RS-05/RS-50. I can't wait, can't sleep... must know....
Heavy effects. The synth doesn't really sound like this. You can get anything to sound ethereal using effects. The synth is still an awesome synth in any case. Beautiful composition.
Been watching this every few months for 7 years dude, amazing.
Wow 🎉

Wow, that was amazing. The first time a gear demo has hit me squarely in the feels.
I own an RS-505 & I come back to this track you composed over & over. It’s pure bliss. Bravo! 👏🏻
Just wonderful, gonna look for one of these one day soon
this is one of my favorite strings synths and you showed it off quite well 👍👍
Really like the vibe from your playing with the soul of this instrument! Thanks for the inspiration!
the sound of that machien is just otherworldly!
This is hauntingly beautiful!

I love that instrument...nicest string synth ever
Such an amazing tone. Will pick one up soon hopefully 🙏🏼
Best demo of this machine so far. Very spacey! Nice job.
+stuthomson RS-505, super machine strings, thank you friend ..
Amazing, fantastic...
Beautiful 🙏🙏🙏
gorgeous ... I love it..Lovely talent... Please keep up the great work.😁
This very beautiful. Now can you go back and do it again with the sustain all the way off?
❤️❤️❤️❤️. I-love-thisss.... So nice after work, or a lil' weed🤤
Trying to play this on my RS-505 - O'MAN IT'S FLIPPING GORGEOUS !!!!!! That stretch at 0.05 I can't manage it ;-(
Beautiful.❤
You have a nice reach and of course the keyboard is a favorite. The best string machine ever made. I regret ever selling mine
You sold this machine? Why why why? 😢
Has that magical hazy, orange glow
so lovely can lisen to this hours ! any ideear how to get that sound with modular ?
Wonderful.... Sounds like Vangelis straight off the bat.... super stuff....
Man. If this doesn't sell you on how awesome string machines are, nothing will.
They sound great but the maintenance issues and quite often the lack of even CV gate makes their new high prices somewhat not worth bothering with
this is incredible
+kyle scotese thank you friend ...
@@classicvintage6466 the very first sound is amazing... is that the synth part only or strings too? I cannot tell if the strings are switched on
this calms me down, thx
They say we don't have the technology anymore to go onto the moon as we did earlier... That Sound , maybe true.
Very melancholy
Hi! i got one, but i have a question, is the level of the strings lower than organ or bass? Thank you.
Great and very musical demo!
So beautiful, is there any chance that you will be doing a series of in depth demo/review/tutorial on each facet of the RS-505, I would love to see that?
That is really very pleasant. Thank you.
Inspirational! Jm
What song is this?

$ 150 .. dude !!
150?!????? These babies are now worth over 3-4k !
Nice demo, I looked for one on Reverb, over $3000
Also checked Reverb, 3,350.36 + 301.53E shipping cost, happy with my Behringer VC-340 :D
What's the title of the song?
Beautiful.....
I love this demo. I keep coming back to it. What effects is it through? Just a reverb?
Probably some type of tape delay too
What effect do you run on it? Delay? Reverb?
Hey thats a gorgeous piece of music you are playing there. What reverb are you using? Is it a strymon by any chance
+Degenerative1 analog strings, great for new age, thanked the comment, the reverb Strymon big sky ...
@@classicvintage6466 I was thinking BigSky since that’s the best reverb I’ve ever heard in 30 years. Nice presentation of this synth.
I love this sound😘. Is there a modern day synth that can recreate this sound? Many thanks 👍
xils lab, they made very good emulation
Omnisphere!

Did Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran) use this? It's a beautiful instrument ... What effects are on it?
Nick used Crumar Performer.
I wonder what it sounds like without all the delay and reverb...
Amazing sounds. Hope there is a bank of these available somewhere, even if the experience will be nothing like playing the real thing.
+Pierre Ripplinger yes are organic sounds specific analog roland rs-505, u can try to find some sample sampler ..
Beautyfull!!!!!!!!!
Is there any VST close to this Thing?
Xils 505

David another good adjective: organic.
yes, and limited too. A couple of good sounds in them and that's it. But no one complaints when a violin sounds like a violin.
David limitations breed creativity.. take the sp-1200 for example
and the Melotron, too. 8 seconds per note? whaaaaa? But it was used in such a phenomenal way by so many great artists.

I really wish that someone could build a vst emulator of the RS-505. I love those strings ensemble sound, really powerful.
Someone did. Xils 505
How the stereo is created?
Anton Gruba it has stereo output
@@chinmeysway wow! that's awesome!
beatiful
Do you know if this keyboard is used on records nowadays?
Make a record!
One example I know of is the song 'Number One' by Goldfrapp. It plays the main riff. Will Gregory is wonderful with a synth.
Sweet dreams by eurithmics
What's the delay effect is that? Thx
Sounds like some kind of Roland Space echo.. maybe echo/chours?
@@Stilhedmusic, maybe Strymon Timeline and Big Sky? Or Capistan? I kind of recognize the character..

Que puta maravilla

MAKE ME REMEMBER VANGELIS BLADE RUNNER
8 people wouldn't know a good sound if it bit em'

Sounds pretty cool. Not $5000 cool though.NFW
Picardy third from out of space.

Problem is the effect is colouring the original sound , just reduce the effects man:)
f/x bad. agree
The effect fills all "gaps". That's just how it's pos 2 b.
