Squid Polyp is legitimately a great way to skip final phase. If you have a handful of drones die to mithrix in triangles (this basically always happens), you can leave the drones on the ground until you deal the final blow to phase 3. Then, quickly purchase every drone that is moderately close to the center of the arena before squid polyp is taken away from you, and watch as mithrix is left in shambles by a bunch of funny squid turrets.
its very true, theres a million niche ways to get through the phase like this, i had to just make the video actually palatable though lol. im sure more comments will sprout up like this, in fact I encourage it. more info for people who need it the better here
11:54 Can confirm Zoea *usually* isn’t an issue, but if you have a ton of them it can lead to Mithrix spawning void allies at an extremely rapid pace. This can be problematic, moreso on eclipse where your void allies spawn at 50% HP, but Mithrix’s still spawn at full HP, which can lead to your void army losing the war, especially since your army won’t replenish while Mithrix’s will. Also note that Mithrix is immune to the nullifier implosions (as is Voidling, for that matter.)
phase 4 is my favorite part of the mithrix fight because of the depth, I was a little sad when I found out that it's left out of the umbral fight and replaced with a phase 4 where he doesn't use your items
Eeh. Overall it feels a little bit gimmicky. Lots of shock value the first time you reach P4, then it mostly plays out very similarly in every fight, with occasional funny interactions between the items. I wouldn't change it. It's fine really, and having to fight against a being that exploits wacky item interactions is very RoR2-y, if that means anything. But purely from a gameplay point of view, I think that the raw skill test that is P4 umbral is more interesting.
Rain was directly responsible to some degree for removing item stealing from P4 by giving feedback to the the creator, actually. If you use an older version of umbral it used to steal your items and spawn an umbral clone of you, among other things.

i once made the mistake of taking spare drone parts and empathy cores into a 120 minute run mithrix. Anyways, I forgot that he would take them and got shredded.
you can quite consistently skip phase four with a proc chain and a single molten perforator as it lets you create a consistent stream of fireballs to hit him immediately. some more niche options are things like fire pools from lunar exploder ghosts or hooks of heresy. frost relic also hits fast enough to be consistent but is a little harder because you need to kill things to keep it up while also staying near the center of the arena.
great guide! It will definetely help me on the eclipse climb. I have to say tho i am suprised you did not mention planula, when im playing commando, mul-t, bandit or captian planula is absolutely awfull to deal with.

I just had a super strange phase 4 skip on my eclipse run. I was playing bandit and the run got out of hand to the point where after 2 and a half hours of procrastinating phase 4 Mithrix, I finally got up to him. I had a bunch of red items such as happiest mask and a lot of desperado stacks so when I shot him with it in phase 3, he died almost instantly but strangely, I not only skipped phase 4 instantly, but 2 happiest mask ghosts of Mithrix spawned. How is this possible? I'm doing eclipse and can't have artifact of swarm or anything so why were there 2 ghosts and is it linked to my phase 4 skip?
hey great video as always! is the hidden hp bar in phase 4 affected by shield? i always hesitate to keep multiple stacks of, say, psg before mithrix, but if i can get items back even if his shield keeps regenerating then i guess its fine haha
Something that carried me a lot through p4 when i didn't know how to skip it was fuel cells. It's one of the few items that still does something for you during the phase, as if you have x stacks of equipment use ready when you lose fuel cells you can still use those stacks up without the fuel cells. AFAIK all the other items that give you extra stacks for abilities don't work like this (They do, im wrong on this last note).
additional ability charges from backup mags and afterburners will persist as long as they're not expended even after mithrix takes them, but obv they won't replenish when you use those extra charges until you get those items back. iirc lysate cell charges behave this way too but not entirely sure on those
@@madsante what you might potentially be seeing is the number counter displaying your available additional charges going away, which is expected. however, it doesn't actually take away the charges
Great vid Race! Quick question does repulsion armor plate effect mithrix’s hidden hp bar? I was in a run recently with about 15 and was dealing little to no damage but it still didn’t take long for me to get some items back so I was wondering if you knew.
only four repulson playes would reduce to only by 20, this is very low by the two shot standards of mitrhix, if you are able to get like, 20 plates than maybe it would start being decent, but tha would take a long ass time.
I got to phase 4, a total of 6 times on eclipse 8 loader. And I got cheesed every single time. ATG procing off a drone to one tap me, Tesla coil erasing me, Nu cahana heal killing me, behemoth aoe off floor erasing me, shuriken sudden attack killing me, Empathy drones hunting me down and killing me. I hate this phase. It feels like you cannot have fun and build an overpowered run. And idk how the phase skip actually works, I used the bands with a loader fist to kill phase 3 and yet it didn’t skip the phase, I hate this fight, to get cheesed at the end so many times is frustrating
Had an engineer run on eclipse that went a little something like this: Mithrix steals my items Mithrix kills my turret and it becomes his because of HAPPIEST MASK I kill mithrix and I celebrate Ghost turret kills me Happiest mask has been my least favorite item ever since.

I've always just played it like a complete pussy and hid behind a pillar while hitting him in the small period where he stops attacking. Not taking any risks on such a chaotic phase.

Please do one for umbral as well I can already do all other phases damageless on all survivors (build dependent ofc) but phase 4 just feels like completely random projectile spam would be pretty nice if you would do a Tutorial for that too
Jump every third pizza as thats when the wave comes out. You can walk around the edge of the circle to help with wave timing and give you space to dodge pizza. If you're continually walking forward all you have to worry about is walking left or right when the pizza comes
Phase 4 has always been a victory lap for me for some reason. Don't know why. Just feels easier than phase 3. Although I'm an acrid main and that may play into it. It also might be an eclipse thing since I don't have the dlc so I've only played monsoon
I just recently beat e8 with acrid and I gotta say that phase 4 mithrix has 0 difficultly if you sit on top of the ramps by the edge of the arena and poison him over and over. There isn’t a single item in the game he can use that will kill you here. As soon as I beat phase 3, the run is won.

This is effective but very risky if you have items Mithrix can proc on the squids.

Exactly what I said in the video, assess the build, use one of the pillars so Tesla can’t hurt you and you can outpace him
