Based on a webcomic series I wrote in 2005. Neither created by, nor posted with permission from a Political Science Professor.
just stumbled upon this whilst searching for an original Sherman and Peabody cartoon. Little did you know that a mega-movie would be made. Although these classic cartoons are somewhat sacred to me, this was a pretty accurate account of history. Maybe I wasn't paying close attention but did you mention that Cheney, while he was sec. of defense under H.W., rightly realized and stated that taking over Iraq was futile as a power grab and chaos would ensue. He then turns around 12 years later and states that we'll be greeted as liberators and the war will last no more that two weeks.(while he collects his millions form Haliburton)
Thanks!
Your Peabody voice is impeccable, but you could have gotten someone else, possibly a girl, to do Sherman's voice
Fact: The hostages were released on H. W.'s inauguration day, January 20.
Fact: There are two days during his vp campaign that H.W. cannot account for.
Fact: Iran has never said the Carter admin negotiated the hostage release.
Fact: The Reagan admin illegally sold arms to Iran.
What conclusion do you draw from these facts?
Great job with this. I thought I was watching a real episode for awhile. Very entertaining and creative!
Thank you for your kind words, CK! I could go on about the Dreamworks movie, but I won't, I'm just grateful to get their spillover. I do find that cartoons are the spoonful of sugar that makes the awful medicine, the Truth, go down. Again, thanks!
This is one of the best historical and political statements I've seen on TH-cam. It's accurate, funny, direct, short, concise and entertaining. I'd give it more stars if I could. And as it should be: Credit and praise to the innovator and the creator.
Thank you for your kind words.
This is a parody. It is clearly stated in the description that it is copyright 2008, b/o a comic series published in 2005, set in 2001. All of these are DECADES after the TV series ended.
I just looked at the original, and you're right! It is an Arab strangling a Legionnaire. (The caption reads "ADVENTURE".) Good eye!
I am neither an Obama supporter nor a Democrat.
Thanks for your response. I'm not that far behind you in the age department! Have a good day.
This is great. A nice concise history of U.S foreign policy in the middle east for the past 50 years.
Excellent I wish you could do a Crimea update with Boris and Natasha or maybe moose and squirrel
That's brilliant!
Ha! Good idea!
I'm trying to remember an old cartoon show - much like Peabody & Sherman I think but not quite them perhaps, where there was a boy who drew chalkboard drawings that came to life - he would enter the chalkboard drawing he made and have adventures. Does anyone remember what show this might have been? Thanks!
Such a privilege to see such a twist of humour on a otherwise dire situation - thanks for the cartoon - loved it!!!! What's love got to do with it when we got good ole economics. So much for perestroika and the f. ed .eral re- serve. And yippee we still have grass, plants, and weeds cause the earth will win every time. No the gover. N. Ment. Know the earth. When this passes it'll be looked back upon as the dark ages. I love Mr. Peabody!!!
Simply superb. (but, then i almost alwys say that), so: Absolutely brilliant. It's so odd (something I've been saying for years). As well as: We can read *anything* but, no one reads anything. And with the internet there are (especially here on the TH-cam tube) endless lectures on (not just language, history, maths) but poly sci as well.
Oh, well. Again, thanks for the post. And *really* well done. -r.
Thank YOU!
The original title was "Dubya's Improbable History". Someone on TH-cam stole it and changed the title to the current clunky one above when he put it on his own page. So I changed the title of mine so that mine would show up on "Related Videos" next to his so that people could see it was stolen. This person's account has been suspended, but there's always a chance he may come back, so I'm keeping the title just in case.
Thank you. You may use this video in your class.
This is thoroughly enjoyable and reminds people that everyone in the government is out for society's best interests.
Thank you very much.
finally someone puts together the facts with the names and dates to the memories I couldn't put together in some kind of order that makes sense. Thank you so much!!
Um, not sure what you mean "the actual episode of this". The original show was produced about fifty years ago, long before Carter, Reagan, and the Bushes. You can buy a DVD of several episodes on Amazon.
The pilot has admitted to it and he was arrested on other charges of misuse and misappropriation of government properties, misuse of government jets, and misuse of government purchase orders for purchase of fuel.
This is great, An up-dated Peabody & Sherman, how cool. I remember watching then back in the early sixties, there was always a lesson to be learned. True genius, very well done, thank you.
Wow....I never would have expected such a wonderfully enlightened history lesson from one of my childhood Saturday morning favorites! More cartoons today need to teach these kids AND ADULTS real world information in an elightening, non political and entertaining way--instead of dumbing us down with sexualized, graphically and verbally violent B.S! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for your support. I don't remember what was on the other poster. It had nothing to do w/the movie
This is a most concise summary of the politics of our recent time.
Naked truth...
Thanks.
I'm not the one who sold weapons to Hussein, sir.
Thank YOU.
Haha the ending is priceless :)
thanks for the short history lesson
Thanks!
Great job! Thanks for posting.
I like the comment in the video "America's policy is...The enemy of your enemy must be your friend" ...how true
so this is where they got the idea for the movie dooooy
Great video!! :-)
@gamewizard Yes, that's why we've had 3 Recessions start under Presidents named "Bush": 1990, 2001, 2007
@kvetonp Thanks for the subscribe!
Thanks! Rumor has it I've made a few other videos that are on TH-cam...
ha ha well done. Thanks for posting grouchobeer.
No, "considered himself" is a phrase that means he thought he was one. Not one of you has produced a scintilla of evidence that he didn't consider himself to be one.
Excellent.
Totally AWESOME!
The logic is slightly flawed, but the heart is near the right place.
@grouchobeer OK, that entry says, "The crushing of Iran's first democratically elected government launched 25 years of dictatorship under Mohammad-Rezā Shāh Pahlavi." Secondly, Kermit Roosevelt (Jr.) was NOT FDR's son, but TR's grandson, as I stated. Thirdly, that the U.S. provided Iraq w/chemical and biological weapons is a matter of public record and not open for dispute.
Thank you. I read your bio and that means a lot coming from you. I hope you'll check out my CG animations, too.
Anybody who would mistake this for a real ep is "kinda a dick". It is clearly stated in the description that it is copyright 2008, b/o a webcomic series from 2005, and set on 9/11. All of these are DECADES after the real thing went off the air.
What is on the other poster at 3:53? great video keep em coming
@grouchobeer No,thank YOU for such an incredible and hilarious video.
I don't claim to. I'm just trying to open people's eyes.
This is genius. And truth.
I just saw the movie yesterday, and then my dad told me to check the original series. Man..... its so diferent, but still, were learning!!!
And as it should be, i removed Sexy Patriot's version from my favorites lists and replaced it with Grouchbeer's.
@modmikeie Thanks.
Thanks! Reagan considered himself to be a BAC.
"considered himself" is a phrase that means he isn't but like to pretend he is when it suites his conversational needs.
Totally awesome and historically accurate. Perhaps cartoons are on a level that the Right can understand?
This isn't the Peabody and Sherman I remember.
Yeah, he probably did. Of course, he also considered himself a competent leader.
Those cartoons are not funny, but are intresting and good to watch!
Brilliant and accurate!
@beachjuicetice As I have explained elsewhere, this video, originally called "Dubya's Improbable History" was stolen from me and given the present clunky title. As part of my plan to defeat the plagiarist, I had to adopt the name of the video.
This is repurposed footage from the series and I could find no turbaned characters to represent Khomeini.
@gamewizard: Incorrect. The debt/GDP ratio was dropping from 1987 on, which means that growth outstripped debt. Following the 1984 tax bill, the country embarked on an era of growth that lasted through Clinton's 8 years. And Clinton's "surplus" (which didn't include social security obligations) was in part due to the peace dividend and halving the size of the US armed forces, and in part due to having inherited a strongly growing economy.
Politics aside, I am furious with the impression of Peabody!!!
i don't hate america. i love america so much i want it to match the american ideal. If you love someone you don;t just shrug your shoulders at their shortfalls and accept their behavior, you try to help them
Was wondering if you could put a NSFW warning in the title? I was looking for old Mr. Peabody cartoons and almost showed this to my 6 year old son. Thanks. :-)
Actually... very real.
@sgtscruffy56 Thanks!
By mid-1979, the United States had started a covert program to finance the mujahideen. So, Archonis' comment about Carter was correct, as far as it goes, however, President Reagan greatly expanded the program as part of the Reagan Doctrine of aiding anti-Soviet resistance movements abroad. To execute this policy, Reagan deployed CIA Special Activities Division paramilitary officers to equip the Mujihadeen forces against the Red Army.
Please see my comments below. This was not the original title. Someone stole this video and retitled it.
The United States did not install Saddam Hussein in Iraq in 1958. First off, the Ba'ath Party in Iraq overthrew a Western-friendly monarch and implemented a socialist, anti-western system. Secondly, Saddam didn't even come to power until the late 1970s. He was involved in the '58 revolution, but as one of the assistants to the head of Iraq. And Saddam was never friendly to the United States. Both he and the US knew that US support of Iraq was simply Iran-hatred, not any real friendship between the US and Iraq.
And if you want to blame someone for the mess in Afghanistan, blame the Russians, who helped overthrow a moderate king in the 70s and led to the war that created the Muhajideen.
@mslegacy01 Thanks!
@BugsWisely -- What's the slight flaw in the logic? Looks pretty accurate to me.
great stuff.
We shouldn't be isolationist but I think it was shortsighted of us to back al-Qaida in the 80s. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend.
Even Republicans can under stand this in these terms short and simple ! America with Liberty and Justice for All !
@dcs002 Thanks!
@fredsezz Geez, lighten up, you only made it thirteen hours ago. I do sometimes have other things to do than constantly check for comments on TH-cam.
@TheMaximumLife Reagan bankrupted this country, morally and financially and Bush II almost finished it off. Their policies created the greatest economic crisis in history since The Great Depression while they and their kind get richer selling scrap iron from Ground Zero.
Once i hear ''biggest load of dog shit' I knew cartoons changed. Too bad i'm a 2000's kid.
i don't think that is real
Beatiful...
@floydturbo2 Thanks!
@johna166 What did you pay to get in, sir?
I never knew the movie was based off a tv cartoon
The alternative then is to not make, or watch movies. A movie that covers 55 years, in your world, would be more than 55 years long, since it would have to cover every single point of view.
This Iran NOT Iraq.
Pretty funny and pretty much true! well done!
@TheHabsfan1993 Thanks!
awesome
@dcs002 Thanks.
Only a moron would think that this was an original show.
@sirensongsindia Thanks!
I downloaded this for my son along with a whole bunch of other Peabody shows.
Was I surprised to hear the swearing!
You're welcome to your opinion and to make a documentary.
However, if you want to do a parody, don't do it in a kids cartoon!
Who exactly is your target audience? This is a kids cartoon for goodness sakes!
Bruce Ing It was a long time ago, as said, 1953. Cartoons have changed. It was still in the revolution. And it is not a parody. It is the actual cartoon. I don't think you were born in the 50's, and cussing in a cartoon back then was actually something.
even this Mr Peabody voice is better than that crap they put in the movie
Wow...well-done indeed.
well my dad was showing me what he always used to watch and he showed me peabody and sherman but this.........
Wow. Yay! Politics and sattire are strange bedfellows, but throw in retro old-skool cartoons and BAM, it works. T.Y.!
Love a good satire.
