Bouriakov's plays so lovingly, with so much devotion and integrity. Never heard the flute played with as much love as this. I can hear what Bach has written better than I have ever heard it.
BRILLIANT!!! I am loving hearing this genius flutist perform these transcriptions of magnificent violin concerti. 30yrs ago we really didn't hear this done. Absolutely amazing. Definitely requires us flutists to take our skills to a new level.
Dear Alden, I could not agree more. Your insights regarding this amazing performance are appreciated here. I believe Bach would indeed be moved by the expressiveness of his music in the hands of these beautiful artists. Good call. And I agree that Bouriakov's tone is a magical blend of velvet, clarity and power. This is flute the way it should be played.
This fellow is remarkable....sound dark and rich...wonderful lower register...some might mention a certain ''fluffy'' lightness in the second register (hear Rampal)...but who am I to say.
I like your vibrato in this. People play Bach so boring but I like the way you play it, and I think Bach would like the modern way of playing his music if he were alive today.
In the ordinary course of music for the the flute, vibrato is not that which is is necessary in Bach recitals. It's when we come to French composers, vibrato is called upon. Just listen to Jeanne Baxtresser, Doriot Dwyer,
Bouriakov, you are a thief. If you keep behaving this way you will have stolen the complete violin repertoire. This is a beautiful and inspiring performance. This man just gets better and better.
I remember when it was common to play Bach in such an u stylistic manner. I did it myself decades ago when I was studying with one of his predecessors in his new position. But I think Baroque performance practice has changed for the better in the intervening decades. The first movement has only a pedal point in the continuo, so it is especially weird with a piano. Big ritards at the end should be a thing of the past. I think as a modern flutist he is wonderful, but modern music suits his style much better.

This man's technique and artistry is literally shocking.

DAMN!! His rich sonorous low register is so amazing. His tone is beautiful throughout all registers, I just really love a full low register.
Extraordinary. I am in a fog as to how the playing is so immaculate. It doesn't comport with my reality, but I will not question it and just enjoy.
You are a great inspiration and motivation! I love your playing and style so much! Thank you for posting!

Where can i find the music sheet for this arrengement?
All I can say is "step aside (Sir") James Galway with your millions playing popular music --- you've been replaced. His name is Denis Bouriakov.
The only thing Bouriakov is missing is Galway's signature vibratro.

Big ritards and inegale are what make it musical.
what a low register! is it Denis or his Altus flute.?
Both of them
It is not Bach what he s playing. His tone is lovly but doesn' t fit to Baroque it is too much vibrato...
