    I installed this App in my mom's 2017 Camry XLE & it works well so far. I have the regular navigation system in my 2015 Camry XSE V6 & it works very well. Don't use it much, but it's nice to have when I go on long drives.

    I own a 2012 camry which came with the old entune and stand alone Gps that does not use any cell phone data and I love it. Also originally toyota was going to charge to keep using the Entune ap which used MY phone data and simply put things on the screen and they later decided that would be free. So NOW one has to buy the highest priced car which includes a lot of things I don't care to have in order to get stand alone navigation or be stuck with using MY data AND paying after the trial period to use this ap? Additionally now they are pulling the whole thing again about charging for the "new" entune after the trial period. it is annoying me and making me reconsider even buying another toyota!

    I am a new Prius V owner. I'm trying to understand why this is any better than the Entune navigation that comes with the car. I read things like "cell phone driven navigation" and that means nothing to me. How about a bit on "why you should use Scout GPS Navigation instead of Entune's navigation" ?

    • @drewj8559
      @drewj8559 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You shouldn't. This is for people who DIDN'T get the built-in nav. They can still get navigation by syncing their phone and using this app.

    • @drewj8559
      @drewj8559 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You shouldn't. This is for people who's Entune suite does NOT include Nav. You bought a car with the nav option, or a trim level that includes it.

    Thank goodness we didn't buy the 2018 Camry XLE at all. While our intention is gas saving by getting a 4-cyl or Hybrid, the problem is that having this type for a Navigation system will eat up all your data. What's more? What if you are driving in a new place and get no signal (suppose I drive from SF to LA on Highway 5 and suddenly signal goes away), then my navigation signal will also go away. They should have kept the Entune in every Camry XLE regardless rather than just the V6 (which we didn't buy). Satellite navigation without your phone is still a much better alternative than this. That's why we are opting for a second hand Avalon or a Honda Accord Touring (Hybrid or 4-cyl)

    SO this is great for just general point to point nav, but say I just want to have a map up when I'm driving in an unfamiliar area so I can see the various different streets etc to decide how and which way to go, is there any way to get a map up on the screen when NOT navigating to a particular point????

    • @theg7675
      @theg7675 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's what I'd like to know. Why not allow the screen to be filled with the Scout GPS screen on the phone? Just having the words spoken to me is worthless..

    Can’t get the phone app to sync /connect car with app. My Bluetooth is connected to the car but the app keeps telling me I am not and that I “need help pairing.” I walk through the steps, and yep, I’m paired (turned off and back on just in case). Still the app wont recognize what both my iPhone 13 and my Highlander indicates. They ARE connected by Bluetooth. Please somebody help! Just bought a used 2018 Highlander Limited.

    I have a 2016 Highlander Limited and when I downloaded the Scout App on my IPhone and while the phone is connected via Bluetooth I can not get it to connect. Is there a chance that my car radio/nav isn't the one that is required?

      Me too.. 2018 Highlander. Sheesh did we pick the wrong car, or what. I was so concerned about all the other little details and the price and the low used car inventory (thanks Covid. Thanks Obama cash/clunkers)…. That I failed to even realize that there would be 2018 vehicle with no apple CarPlay connection!!! What the heck Toyota! I last drove a Toyota 2007 to 2013. Guess they went downhill technologically, in the ensuing 9 yrs 😠

      You can not do that Marshall. It is the single most frequent question I see on Toyota Owners dot com. You had better study the owner's manual BEFORE you buy. Once you buy a head unit (radio) that is the one that car will FOREVER only have. Got it ?

    Not a great GPS app, and I feel like it's almost intentional. If they integrated with Apple CarPlay or the Google equivalent, nobody would bother buying their trim levels that come with Nav.

    • @CarlBirdNJ
      @CarlBirdNJ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The camry doesn't even offer Navigation. Only this. Nice car. Horrible software decisions.

    • @drewj8559
      @drewj8559 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They do, at least they do now (and as far back as 2015 at least). It's an option though. The nav isn't bad, it's just not good either. Making the car compatible with Apple or Google and their auto-updated nav software would be way better for the consumer. But I suppose Toyota is not overly concerned with what's better for the consumer, only their bottom line.
