Got to see Joe Hisaishi conduct an orchestra playing Ghibli music about 2 years ago. Still one of my favorite performances I've been to. Nearly brought me to tears in a few spots.
It makes me very nostalgic too.... it reminds me of my old house and the days I would watch studio ghibli movies with my aunt and brother to pass time. No matter how many times we watched it, we never got tired. These movies are truly a gem
I was almost crying. I remembered the good old days when everything was normal and you and all of your cousins and siblings sat down als little childs watching these studio Ghibli movies on your old tube Television and your only worry was what the dinner is doing to be. Oh boy i miss these days. Thank you very much for giving me this nostalgic moment of peace in my body and my soul.

Riiiiiiiight I’ve barely found this video and his whole dressing up as the characters had been fantastic the minute he started flying I cracked the f up 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tale of Ashitaka/the legend of Ashitaka is by far my favorite piece by Joe Hisaishi, and maybe my favorite piece by any modern composer. It will always bring chills up my spin and tears to my eyes no matter how many times I’ve listened to it.
Easily my favorite piece in all of Ghibli. Always makes me sad how Ashitaka is the main character and the driving force in that movie, yet he's completely forgotten about in marketing.
Random fact: I've been watching Studio Ghibli all my life. Growing up, me and my sister would watch Ponyo all the time, so much that the DVD is all scratched up. Of course, I've been watching a lot more of their movies, now that I'm older.
Same, Studio Ghibli is a big part of my childhood. Me and my older sister first discovered Castle In The Sky and that’s when we both fell in love and watched almost every movie to this day
You know it's a bit strange for me to read all those comments because Studio Ghibli has never been very famous in my country and I've only discovered it last year at the age of 17. I did watch Spirited Away as a child though but only once and I didn't remember it well. I grew up mostly on Barbie and Disney. But now that I watch Ghibli movies, it's like I got my childhood back. Whenever I see their movie, I forget about my age, about everything actually and I'm taking to another universe where I'm still a carefree child. And it's one of the best feelings ever ❤️ There's just something truly magical about those movies.
Neko Gaming i have been too! i remember especially loving spirited away and ponyo, along with howls moving castle. im proud of myself for loving them so much so soon, i was only 6 when i watched spirited away.

The girl who fell from sky really hit me...i never watched the laputa until yesterday because i think the art is kinda outdated...but when i see the movie...it is a masterpiece...my favourite ghibli film.
Joe Hisaishi is such a genius, personally I love "Merry go round of life" & "A town with an ocean view" but every single track in this medley is amazing
@@e.dolphin5055 I have never met someone who has seen nausicaa valley of the wind 😭 it’s amazing and there isn’t a single bad song on the soundtrack either 🥲
How dull would the world have been without Japan in it. Rewatching these old Ghibli films instantly teleport me to a long-lost period of my childhood where life used to be simple and fun. My sincerest gratitude to Ghibli for these memories. Arigato!
I prefer the music in Princess Mononoke, it has a far more Japanese feel to it and feels raw and real, I’m not saying Howls Moving Castle is overrated, it’s just too Western and Waltzy for me. Maybe it’s because I’ve heard it too much lmao
Merry-go-round of Life and the last one from Princess Mononke are my favourites. The beggining theme in Nausicaa and the main theme of The Wind Rises are among my favourites too.
The Princess Mononoke -Legend of Ashitaka really gives me a sense of pride as a royal or a warrior and the second part of it sounds like a backing track for a war scene with the royal leading the army. It is just so accurate that it blows my mind and gives me goosebumps from the first few notes itself. Another really good ost is the main theme of Only Yesterday. It is soooo soothing to hear and the instruments are almost made to sound like gentle waves in the ocean, that helps to rock you in a very serene state. I would 100% recommend listening to this song when you feel stressed because it just feels like the waves the song creates just gently takes it away, leaving you in such a peaceful state. It's just perfect like any of the other studio ghibli ost. But if I had to pick an all time favourite ost from all the movies or series I have watched to far (not only studio ghibli) it would undoubtedly be *drumroll* ........"Merry Go Round of Life" from Howl's Moving Castle. This movie holds a special place in my heart and the wonderful duet of the piano and the violin (two of my favourite instruments to play and listen to respectively). The scene that comes to mind whenever I listen to it is a couple dancing together, signifies as the piano and the violins. It starts of as slow like they are just meeting each other for the first time from the piano's perspective.....then they start dancing with that faster waltz tempo. They dance together during the highs and lows, separately and together, perfectly complementing each other. They both seem more used to their significant others sound and finally just conveys their emotions to each other with each of their individuality shining through. They do not get lost in each other but help the other shine better creating such a beautiful tune at the end and finally ends their crazy journey with a peaceful long lasting chord. Almost like the couple is now old and just looking back fondly at the memories they created. It really shows the merry go round of their life and the romantic in me can't help but to fall in love with the genius and the significant emotion of this piece. It gives me the feeling of falling in love and having a happy and well supported relationship even though I have not experienced both situations. That is my personal favourite and I am forever grateful for Joe Hisaishi for letting me hear the wonderful music he experiences in his genius head.
