  • This is a fantastic medley of songs, featuring "In For The Kill", "Crash Course In Brain Surgery" and "Hot As A Dockers Armpit". The line up features Burke Shelley on Bass, Craig Goldy on Guitar, and Steve Williams on Drums. Classic Budgie at their best, enjoy.

My heart is crying for this sad news, my wonderful band will not play anymore, but the music is forever and I will continue to listen to Budgie at work and in the car, and after moving to the other side of my life, I hope to meet Burke and be able to listen and listen to him there. music until the end of the world, I think that half of Poland is with me, which loved him very much for many years, let him rest in peace

Age is only a number young one. It's more about ones environment, influence, preference, and personality. I'm nearly 39, and have been listening to wild rock for over 25 years. My parents listened to Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, Jefferson Starship, Ted Nugent, Robin Trower, and many others. I definitely had a rocking, biker hippy upbringing, so I was nudged in that direction. I've definitely expanded upon that list considerably, particularly over the last 10 years or so thanks to TH-cam and the internet. It's fortunate that we have such technology that allows music fans across the globe to share the gift of music. There was a time when the options were limited to broadcast radio or whatever you could find or afford at local record stores. Never take that for granted.

It was a brilliant gig except that Goldy had terrible equipment problems; a lot of the time you could barely hear him. That brought it down a little but he soldiered on and sounds good in this clip. Can't believe it was six years ago! Sadly looks like it might turn out to have been their final UK gig? Hope not. @@rocksteady9115 Seriously? Have you ever listened to Power Supply? It leaves the poppy Impeckable in its dust. Night Flight and Deliver us from Evil moved back towards poppy elements, but the band put on some killer shows with Big John, and he capably played Tony's stuff with no problem.

@@rocksteady9115 Nothing of that significance on Impeccable either aside from maybe Melting the Ice Away. It's a matter of taste to a degree. Power Supply is rapid fire consistency top to bottom. It's a foundation stone of NWOBHM if not a convincing precursor and inspiration for that sound. As I noted, while I personally enjoy Night Flight, it's a step down from Power Supply, but still has some tasteful leads on Turn to Stone, Reaper of Glory, and a few others. I can't comment on Deliver Us From Evil, never could stomach it past first couple of songs. I totally understand your point, and I think Tony Bourge was an excellent guitarist and an integral part of the vintage Budgie hard rock crunch. That being said, he clearly wasn't the only guitarist for Budgie, Kendrick didn't seem up to the task, but Big John took the bull by the horns. I think it's virtually impossible to honestly rate Impeckable as a better guitar album than Power Supply, or even as an album entirely. Love for you and Me is a neat progressive minded tune, and Melt the Ice Away is a classic Budgie heavy rocker with Tony shredding through riff and lead. They had an odd tendency to explore their funk flavored soft rock experimentations over the years, and it seems to me that they went overboard with it on Impeckable. It's the Budgie record I'd recommend to disco fans, as I would consider Love Beach by ELP a bit patronizing to the Area 51 crowd. Both have some flashes of genuine artistic intent, but fall a bit flat as a whole attempting to fuse their genuine chemistry with late 70s production and quite a few songs heavy on toe tapping but a little light on artistic integrity and natural mojo. Power Supply went back to the hard rock basics but they pick up the tempo, by far the fastest Budgie album ever released. The songs are aggressive and deep at the same time, they traded soulful meandering in for punk rock intensity and the results were great. Forearm Smash and Panzer Division Destroyed belong on any Budgie playlist. I didn't even mention Burke Shelly turning in more powerful vocal takes than ever before or since. Tony was great, but the bands sound progressed to it's ceiling on Power Supply. It's not a knock on Tony B or your allegiance to that era. I just think Power Supply was captured exactly as intended, energetic, full of attitude, a complete set of unapologetic, teeth kicking heavy rock bordering on thrash. Big John was part of it, while still managing to competently play the best Bourge era tunes with no notable difficulty

    • @rocksteady9115

@@markrago5338 JT was ok for Budgie but imo the sound of Budgie was very much TB, i thought JT was purposely copying Tonys GREAT guitar sound tbh, Power Supply is mediocre predictable stuff imo i think for all Impeckables short falls it still has more QUALITY. Listening to TB play Parents, Cant se my feeljngs, Breadfan, House Rules, Bonapart nothing gets near those classics im afraid.
Tony created the Budgie guitar tone in the early days and was the master of it
