this band should have been as popular as Sabbath, Rush, Zepplin, all the great seventies bands. maybe they were to lots of people, but in a worldwide sense, you don't hear Budgie in the same breath as those bands, but they were every bit as awesome.
Highly underrated band. Listened to them from their very first album and have their first 6. They should have been famous world wide. Not sure what stopped them.
I got into Budgie bc of Brütal Legend. As soon as I heard them, I was hooked and went so far as to back-order two of their albums through a local record shop bc I couldn't find them anywhere else. When my dad took me to go pick them up he was so shocked that I even knew who Budgie was. It was one of those rare moments where we really bonded over mutual intrest and since then he's gifted me several of his old Budgie vinyl records he had when he was a young man. I love them so much and I love that we share such a deep love for music and the power it has to bring people together.

One of many truly epic Budgie tracks (and the name of my first band) I was privileged to meet Tony Bourge several times in the 80's and saw one of Budgie's last gigs about 12 years ago. The first five albums are amongst the best rock albums ever and compare with anyone.

First band ever saw live in 1973 with Judas Priest as support. Both bands played on the same stage for the encore. This is the best track from their 4th album, a heavy rock tour de force. Have a great live version from 1975 somewhere. Will have to dig it out sometime.

Their greatest, most swaggering track, in my humble opinion. I know people will disagree, but it has everything Budgie had to offer, from Tony's lead to Burke;s rhythm. Rock at its best.
