    I work at a hockey shop, and play highschool hockey. Our store is authorized to sell these custom bauer helmets. Take it from me, you do not need these helmets in any way shape or form, it may seem like a great idea but I felt and wore the helmet, the material in their helmet is not great at all. Even thought he says it, hockey helmets are not one size fits all, they have different lengths and widths for every brand and each style of helmet. As long as you figure out which size and width fits you the best and not go for just whatever the most expensive is or try to be super brand specific. Unless your playing professional hockey at a very high level or have an abnormally shaped head, you do absolutely not need to spend the money.

    Just gonna say this real quick. I work at Pure Hockey. If you don't know us we are one of if not the largest hockey retailer in the US. These custom helmets are honestly a scam. Most people find a retail helmet that will fit just as well if not better than a custom helmet and nearly half the cost. Tbh this is just Bauer and CCM ( I know he didn't mention CCM but they have custom helmets coming soon also) trying to make more money from the kind of people who think that top of the line gear makes you Connor McDavid.

    • @endeavor44

      You could be close to right. You can probably get 85%+ there by trying out a few helmets, but brain safety isn't something to play with. I'm in motorsports and we have a saying. A $50 helmet is for a $50 brain

    • @zekemolina2931
      @zekemolina2931 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @endeavor44 I agree with you we should protect the head as much as possible and you could be right in your assessment that 85% are ok and the rest could need a custom helmet but in my experience none of my customers have needed a custom helmet and could get the same level of protection for $300 less (this is because the customs are built around the current top of the line helmets which cost significantly less) and I'm more likely to say scam because there are several initiatives by pure hockey to entice the customer to spend rewards points on small purchases in order to charge full price on other more expensive items

    The braim moves because of the violence of the hit itself, the shaking/jarring of the body, a helmet is good and pading can minimize the shake a little bit, but not much. The trauma is not from things hitting the skull.

  • @SavingPrivateRy
    @SavingPrivateRy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Crazy how head hunts arent too blame or the fact that players are stubborn and once they like the look or feel of something specific they usually keep wearing it/using it. Many players have companies that dont make a specific item anymore, make it special just for them. For example the Bauer 4500 is still used today and many guys who had CTE wore one or something very similar. Terrible helmet but looks amazing. Older CCM’s are the same way. But ya sue the company which is easier than the NHL who employs you.

    Hockey is the only one size fits all helmet. Football has plenty of helmets to chose from between brand, size, accessories adjustment points etc. I spent 45 minutes trying on helmets, picking a brand, accessories, how much padding I want in it, what type of face mask I wanted. I’m one of those people who on any given day just throws on whatever I’m not picky with designs but football helmets have so many individual adjustable parts. And that was in highschool. I can only imagine what it’s like for college and pro teams. Or even a high school team with real funding

    Helmets are great for preventing skull fractures, but have limited effectiveness for preventing concussions. Your brain is sloshing around in your skull and a helmet can only do so much to reduce the impact of your brain into your skull, which is what causes concussions.
    A well fit helmet may be more comfortable, but is not necessarily safer.
    I am willing to bet that Bauer or CCM does not claim reduced concussions when marketing these custom helmets

  • @cheeseeygamer2997

    1) the helmet "will save the NFL" exactly how you think it does, by lessening concussions and CTE, duh. 2) "Every hit a hockey player takes sloshes their brain around a little bit, but there might be a way to change that." If you understand how CTE and concussions work then you'd know how dumb this statement is. Unless the helmet manages to keep your head from moving whatsoever during a hit, the brain is going to move around in the skull because of inertia. 3) helmets are not one size fits all. There is multiple sizes and even shapes. Get a size that fits, get pads that are tight at first, then over time the pads will mold to your head making it a more comfortable fit. 4) part of the reason for there being less players is due to risk of injury AND MONEY. This helmet costs over $500 which was conviently left out and is a piece of equipment you have to replace over time, all helmets need replacing due to pad damage so please look at the helmets expected lifespan and replace it.
