We’re back! Hadda take a break due to working longer hours at my irl job! I have a few more ideas already cooked up that are ready to be made! Hope you all enjoyed!
In my opinion the strangest equipment in nhl history was Montreal Canadians goalie Bill Durnan’s “gloves”. He had custom gloves that allowed him to switch which hand he held the stick during game, doing this helped him be one of the best goalies during the 1940’s
How did this help him?.....especially in the 40's....where players could barely raise the puck. He was a great goalie...but switching hands had zero to do with it.
I still have my Nike Air Zooms black with white swoosh. Size 9, never baked if anyone is interested 😂. It's a nice boot, with Tuuk blades with 1 sharpening. I got these back in 96 or 97.. back in the days
David Perron wears the tinted visor because of sensitivity to the bright lights from concussions. I think it's more of a safety thing than a style thing these days.
Dude your content is so good and worth waiting for. You remind me of an NFL TH-cam content creator named KTO. You tell great stories about league history
Re: Blackburn. We called that 2nd blocker a "Glocker" on the ol' GSBB. If you look close at the photos, you'll see it's not actually a 2nd stick glove. You can see the pocket next to the thumb in that one kneeling pic you used. It is a catch glove with a blocker board attached. This gave Blackburn the ability to cover a puck like any other goalie without risk of getting hurt.
Yeah that's an added advantage to the tinted visor is that some people may actually need it for medical reasoning. I'm happy they allow you to see comfortably!
I remember reading Butch Goring wore the same pair of dress pants every time when traveling then when the season ended he cut them down for shorts in the summer.
When it came to visors, the first time I ever saw one of a different colour or tint was when Eric Weinrich was with the Flyers where he had a yellow one. Ovi definitely popularized the dark tint.
When I started playing hockey as a kid in the late 80s they had yellow full face shields I don't think they ever really caught on but I remember seeing them and wondering why someone would wear one
You could probably do another video like this. Cooperalls, aluminum sticks, offset blades, curved shaft goalie sticks, and the glow puck come to mind. Not sure if the offset blade or goalie stick actually made the NHL though.
I get the tinted visor thing. I have extreme light sensitivity now due to Covid and I can’t go to see my local team play without wearing tinted lenses. The glare of the ice is too much for me and I end up leaving half way due to migraine. I usually wear yellow or pink tints. However, the polarised visor that Ovi was wearing was a bit much and I can’t see any other reason for him wearing it that isn’t a cosmetic one. Also…I REALLY hope Crosby washes that jock strap!
Goalie equipment has a really great history as it evolved, not to mention the cheats like Haseks oversized shirts that protected the 5 hole, Garth Snows optimus prime shoulder extensions in the 97 cup finals or the guy (i forget exactly who) wore elastic strips between his legs! It's not cheating until someone makes a rule about it! 😉
That Goldie black burn doing that with the extra glove is pretty cool he’s got one up in my book I broke my arm are used to play a lot of arcade games before they got rid of all the arcades and I had to do something similar switch our plans cross them over people were saying I was weird Nobody would play me on the street fighter alpha because of that I can do some things with both hands
Is he really the greatest goal scorer if it takes an entire team tanking just to feed an aging and flat footed Ovi empty netters and tap ins all in an effort to get him the record?

Oh wow! That’s sick!

I begged for those federov nike skates when i was a kid
in 2000's I had Nike hockey rollers, they had an alien design but were very comfortable and nice to skate with
We're those the Ignites? A buddy had a pair and loved the comfort, but damn they looked weird.
I still play roller, and still wear my Zoom Airs! 25 years old. They’re still super comfortable.

Nylander does it for the same reason
Man, I wanted NIKE gear as a kid so bad. EDIT: The old John Vanbiesbrouck helmet was amazing,

I love KTO so this means the world to me 🙏 Thank you so much for the support and for the kind words

I wear a mirrored visor, it's a godsend. I have epilepsy and some light sensitivity so the visor helps with that on the ice.

The air zoom skates and bolero gloves, still the sickest looking equipment!!

The Nike skates were built on a Bauer chassis, with Nike technology. They were extremely comfortable
I still have a pair hanging in my basement. They were great.
Still have my Nike Bauer’s

If I remember right, he did a whole video about Cooperalls, or at least talked about them in a previous vid.
@@LateNightTableCo Yup! I made a whole video dedicated to the Cooperalls when Philly brought em back! A video on the glow puck maybe cool tho 👀

The WHA used colored pucks. FOX Sports used a puck that would light up for TV and have a contrail if shot hard.

With the Nike Air Zooms, i remember hearing someone wearing in the nhl and might wear in a game, it was a blue nike zoom skates, idk who the player is
I played 10yrs in Nike skates , honestly they were better than most brands.
It's important to note, that when Gretzky went to the Rangers, he too had a Nike skate that was just like Fedorov's, but with NYR colorway.

I used to wear an Australian Stack Hat on my head and got accused of looking like a Rusky by my team mates. 😂😂😂😂
I wore Nike skates for awhile because Fedorov was wearing them. Eventually I switched to Mission and never looked back.
You always have such great video ideas, and you never miss
Thank you so much!! Thanks for watching and for the support 🙏
Yellow laces are waxed. They keep your skates laced hella tighter
Yes I used them for years, they were great.
another great one buddy!
Thank you so much!!

They were emberassed but had -8 in playoff, not even close to Vancouver worst-15 in a playoff round.
Welcome back Paul
Thank you so much! Hope you enjoyed!
Leo Komarov was using old Graf skates which were much more heavier than modern skates these days.
I just switched from 15 year old Grafs to bauer 2 years ago. What a huge difference in weight.
IDGT comeback my beloved
Great vid as always baby ❤
Thank you beautiful ❤I love you!!
@@idontgivetkachuk I love you too 🥰
i used to play hockey against a kid who wore 91 and had all sergei fedorov Nike equipment ...for some reason this post reminded me of him
Oh wow 😭😭 He definitely had a favorite player!
@idontgivetkachuk yep ...I grew up in the windsor area so it's not overly surprising
The molded skates from the early 80s were odd too. They looked like the early Rollerblade skates.
See if you can tie in an idea around Matt Dumba wearing 55 to make it look like Dumba$$ on his jersey. Like creative names or numbers or something
I had the Nike skates growing up. Still my favorite skates. I still have a pair of Nike roller blades.
i had the gloves. and maybe a terrible aluminium stick
who remembers the skate blades Patrik Elias used to wear ?
Mike Foligno's bicycle helmut
Goat Posted LFG 🐐
The Goat commented! Thank u for the support my guy 🙏
Yo skating with the Niki drip
He’s Sergei Fedorov. He could wear those skates with purple laces while sporting a neon green mohawk, and it wouldn’t matter. Sergei is a god.
WE Had someone like Ludwig?! I thought UND had less drafted players than true, the more you know
Nike skates were considered sty back in the 2000’s
Welcome back.
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
I always thought Tim Thomas had an unusual looking goalie mask.
The Mage RS I believe! The name was a combo of mask and cage. Think a variation is still made
HE IS BACK🎉❤
🥳🥳🥳 Thank you sm for watching and for the support!!
See if the wings made it this year and they would of won it
I still wear a Jofa helmet because i enjoy concussions and being laughed at.
As i saw the thumbnail i had a banana it had a nike swoosh
Sid is nasty. Damn...
I still have my Nike skates
Why did you have to start with such a gut punch for caps fans
I'm sorry I promise I'll get off the Caps LOL. Just needed a way to transition into Ovi that related to what's currently going on in the NHL world.
Hell, I still wear my Nike Skates!!!!!!
THATS so sick!!
Why you had to add that first part wtf 😂
Collab when?
hi you miss guy carbonneau from the habs had white skate with bleu blades
ugh T blades were so loud
I still have those nike skates.
Cooperalls
I don’t give a Datsyuk 🐙
Is he really the greatest goal scorer if it takes an entire team tanking just to feed an aging and flat footed Ovi empty netters and tap ins all in an effort to get him the record?
Remember Gretzky’s 50th in 39 games? It was in an empty net from an awkward feed.
Remeber cooperalls😂
If they can bring those back, they can bring back the nike skates
Lmfao football players have been wearing tinted visors for DECADES, they stole the idea from NFL players OBVIOUSLY
Nike is garbage shit tier quality
