He's a class act who has been a bit interrupted. For a few weeks, he got spooked by the new holding the ball rule. He got pinged a lot and seemed confused with it all. But he adjusted. Hopefully he and Cerra get a clean run at it. Having let Bam Bam go we are putting a fair bit of reliance that our mid field stays fit and that Lord and Pick 3 are ready. (Cooper Lord showed plenty in his two games ... elite handball under pressure ... something our recent midfield selections haven't been).
Walsh was targeted by the opposition - regularly tackled extremely physically - just think back to the Dangerfield tackle when he was slammed into the turf early in the first quarter against Geelong. How Dangerfield had his suspension overturned still amazes me!
The football assisted in ensuring Walsh's head did not make full contact with the ground. If anything, a bit of whiplash and the fact he was cleared to play on and subsequently played the following week without any concussion concerns is why the Dangerfield tackle was overturned. And rightfully so too.
@@footylovrnevertheless it was an extremely aggressive tackle - which Dangerfield was clearly making a statement and his presence felt on Walsh early in the match. We don’t need those types of actions in matches these days with the aim of the tackle to hurt the opposition player.
@@petercraven7627 Dangerfield has always played that way. He is a big body and close to 100kg. If you plead to stamp out aggression from the game . . . the sport is officially done.
I do remember Walsh returning from his back injury against the Crows at Etihad. He managed 30+ touches and 13 tackles, 600+ metres gained and best on ground (imo). He almost gave us a chance to get the lead back with yet another inside 50 entry in the dying seconds. (Typical Blues - rarely get up for milestone games. Walsh was playing his 100th and Acres his 150th. Lets not mention Cripps’s 200th game)
He’s 2024 season was still good,he sets a high standard,I just hope he can get his body right because a fit Sam Walsh is probably a top 5 player in the competition
Walshy is one of our absolute top liners, he's an A grader and we need more from him in season 2025 compared to 2024, he wasnt bad but by his own standards he was definitely down. Really needs to get back to using the ball better, he's by far not alone here No more blind dump kicking please
Health is a major factor in anyone's performance. If we have our best midfield available for longer next season, synergy will build, and all in our midfield should have an improved season. Depth also plays a part in who gets tagged. If we have Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Hewett, Elijah, a more mature Ollie, perhaps Cooper Lord, it makes for very hard match ups about who to try and quell. Let's hope for a healthy list, and good Performance Management from whomever has replaced Russell. Go Blue's 💙
He was at his best until Dangerfields dangerous tackle on him, where his head was pushed into the ground and a heavy push I to his back, which is his “achillies heel”.
My view is that Sam Walsh is elite with his professionalism and performance and if he has a healthy year will be highly influential for us. We need to play to his strengths and get him out in the open.
Injuries and being tagged more are major factors, but almost as important for why he wasn't as impactful while still stuffing the stat sheet is how he is used, which exacerbates both those other factors. To his detriment at times, I'd say. Pommy told you on the last video.
Back surgery is major operation I could imagine walsh knocking back pain medication given how tough he is his first game back against the crows was awesome the comment you played from journalist saying he looks like an old man was totally crap I didn’t believe it I hope Walsh can get back to his best for 2025
Thought he had a great year considering limited pre season. Exciting times ahead if he can get in a full pre season and stay fit. I think his best footy is still in front of him. Go Blues.
G'day Tez, think psychologically he's form morphed into the wreck of what the end of the season become. Lets face it cripps was the only one in supporters minds to keep head above water in the end. He is still one of our best even if we can't see it through our frustrations. We got caught up with the media bull about his disposal, though he needs to work on it for improvement. Doesn't have to be a bullseye kick just a little better, a player of his ability needs a disposal percentage that belongs to a player of his football stature, Go Tez, Go Blues.
He’s lost penetration with his kicking. The ball takes longer to get to the destination and some of his ball use choices under pressure this yr were questionable. I have assumed most of this is related to his back and his confidence in it?
Not a detractrion on 2022, 23 & 24 but Walsh's i juries have had a negative effect. Butt so looking forward to a 100% fit Walsh & Cerra & Curnow with a full preseason.
Walsh reminds me of Robert Harvey, got alot of the ball , but didn't kick many goals , which puts a question mark of their so called champion qualities , just saying .
Sam Walsh needs to kick goals that's one prob . Prob 2 is he doesn't hit targets too out forward line. We don't need Walsh to run 100 kilometres a game ?. Even David king said better too get only 15 touches and gives away 3 goals and kicks 2.or 3 goals a game
Let me tell you everything to do with the management of sams spine is appalling and I’m honestly surprised he was even able to play last year at all. Pilates and stretching with multiple herniated discs? Warming up with hundreds of flexion movements when you have sciatic symptoms ? It’s absolutely unreal And disgusting.
You could tell Walshy was carrying his back through the season, and id still put him in the top half of afl midfielders He will remind everyone he is a Gary Ayres medalist at some point 👍🏻
lets be honest here Power companies have been allowed to cut the rebate rates to just over 3 cents per Kwh while charging in some cases mid 40's per Kwh to the customer nice percentage if profit there if you can get it
The premium rebate of 60 cents/kWhr ended a few days ago. We were receiving 66 cents/kWhr for any solar power going into the grid. It’s dropped to 6 cents/kWhr as of the 1st November 2024. They treat you home solar panels as a generator like the coal power generators in Yallourn or the Snowy Hydroelectric power station. You get 3.3 cents/kWhr for any excess power plus a few cents if your energy provider is generous (stingy). Many victorians are installing battery storage with their solar systems so that they keep and use the power when they want. Otherwise it’s grand theft by the corporates
He’s a good receiver and a squib. Always everyone talks him up how good he is. The Truth is he’s average. IQ in football is poor, he only handpassess whenever he tries to do too much. Doesn’t talk to his players calling them they are clear and his kicking is average. He works hard trying to get there he has cost us games in the past because of being selfish. Kane Cornes called him out who’s the better player Conner Rozee or Walsh and everyCarlton supporter slated Cornes. Kane was right Rozee is far more rounded player and Walsh is smack bang average.
Walsh needs to go to Mexico. They have a clinic there where they use stem cell technology to regenerate the body. Athletes from the US have actually regrown their ACL without surgery. I'm sure they can fix his back problems.
