  • A crusty, no-knead sourdough bread with a delightfully soft texture and deliciously tangy flavor. The dough is mixed one day and baked the next, giving it an elevated taste and texture.

After watching this recipe video for faaaar to often I finally found my problem :-). When Lisa says you have to stretch and fold every 15 min for the first 3! She means the first 3 STRECHES not the first 3 hours! Don´t ask me how I got the idea that she could have meant hours but I did. Although I stretched the dough wayyyy to many times it still looked ok, but I somehow knew I´m doing something wrong. So if someone else should understand wrong: its about 6 Stretch and Fold rounds and not 6 hours :-))).
Thank you Lisa for allll your videos and great recipes they taste delicious, you are amazing and such a great Homemaker. Alll my apreciation and support!

Also, this is super easy and requires minimal tools. Flour, salt, and water, that's it! I used glass bowls I use for salads and such with my clean kitchen towels to rise and that was it. Once I got past being afraid to try out such a beautiful bread, I feel so much more confident in my bread baking. I'm so glad I overcame the fear and tried it head on. This is a keeper in our home.

One day my son asked for an extra sandwich. I thought he was giving it to someone. Nope, the ladies in the office purchased . He did that for a few years as did my daughter. Homemade bread makes delicious sandwiches

I've tried a few different recipes but I keep going back to this one. Something about the way you explain the process just clicks with me and it produces a lovely loaf every time for me! The only time it maybe isn't perfect is if I'm not timing the use of the starter or bulk ferment perfectly. But overall I get such a yummy and fluffy loaf 🥰

    Perfect process and recipe :)
I sell about 220 loaves a month from my home kitchen. The only suggestions I would make is that lining your bowls and dusting your formed loaves with rice flour is night and day different compared to dusting with any wheat flours to keep your dough from sticking.
Tons of love from Canada :)

    • @justinbouchard
      @justinbouchard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Also use rice flour to dust the top prior to baking if you want the dusted look. That way there isn't any unfermented wheat flour on your bread :)

I’m new to SD and I’ve already made two loaves with my starter. I used another persons recipe’s and once the loaf was heavy and dense with some good size holes in the crumb. The other time it was even worse… almost not good holes at all and felt like a brick. I am trying yours and am on lift and fold #4 and started getting large bubbles 2 lift and folds ago. I’m hoping this recipe works better for me and I’ll update when I bake it

Update: my loaf turned out wonderfully! The crumb was not as open as I’d like but a million times better than other instructions I’ve followed. The bread was not heavy like the others I made but The bottom was a little too dark. I did change a few things: I baked at 450 for 20 min and the took the top off and went an extra 15-20 min Because my oven is overly hot. I also used all bread flour. I think next round I’ll put a cookie sheet under the Dutch oven to help the bottom of the bread and I may let it rest on the counter for an hour before putting it in the fridge to get more lift. Thanks so much!! You are amazing 🤩

@@FarmhouseonBoone just wanted to give a second update. I baked bread again today and tried the changes I mentioned. I put a cookie sheet under the Dutch oven and let the Dough sit for an hour before placing it in the fridge. After 5 hrs in the fridge I decided to bake it (my hubby wanted bread lol) the changes made a big difference! The bread wasn’t as sour because I cooked it with only 5 hrs in the fridge but the spring was amazing and crust was perfect. Bottom was no longer hard and over cooked. It was perfect! I hope this helps someone else out there

Will the higher temperatures put the parchment at risk for burning? I’m attempting my first sourdough. So excited! It’s already looking good! ♥️

For some reason my dough seemed a little more wet and I had a hard time getting out of the bowl, and then back off the counter. It seemed to bake just fine and tasted great.

My oven does not have an light but, I turn my oven on the lowest setting and let it heat for about 10 minutes and then turn it off and open my oven for a few minutes until it feels “summery” so to say and that usually works :)

If you have an airing cupboard (where your hot water tank is) you can put your dough in there to rise.

Hello, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Your bread is lovely 😊
I wouldn't need 2 loaves and was curious if your recipe can be halved to make only one loaf of bread? Thank you in advance 😊

I cant imagine the original sourdough breads being so labour intensive, they certainly didnt have frigs to put it in over night.
I have started my starter sourdough, lm going to treat it as any other bread l have been making.

Where, how, or much flour could you sub out to add freshly milled rye to make a sour dough rye loaf? My family loves TANGY and I mean TANGY bread. I understand that in the ferment part of dough if you leave it out longer than it can enhance the flavor. Thank you for any input, love you on School of Traditional Skills.

My loaves are ready for the fridge tonight following your video! Question!...Can I bake them both at once in 2 dutch ovens or is it better to do one at a time? Hi, I must say firstly that you have 8 beautiful children (I take it you don't have a TV 😁), seriously your videos are fantastic but as your begginers bread was in grams and I was surprised to found the bread machine loaf etc all in measuring cups, in Europe the measuring cup are bigger that the US so it produces a problem for us, can you please use grams in the future (you will of course advance to the very top of my Christmas card list 😊). Keep up the videos as you are very easy to listen too. P.s Can you please tell my wife to give me permission to buy a beautiful blue Dutch oven I found on Amazon, thank you 😉🤭.
