Hi Lewis. Its looking great I love the fact that you give depth above your tunnel mouths, the amount of lay outs you see that don't give enough depth ,In the real world it would collapse . carry on the good work mate looking forward to next week. Thank you Lewis
very inspirational to see how you create this scenery with the simplest of materials. It shows that you don't have to spent a fortune to build a very nice layout. Keep those video's coming. And for those who say it isn't going fast enough : perfection take's time !
As much as I like many of the other channels, this is so much more inspiring because you are making the modelling accessible without compromising the quality and finish of the end product, which already looks stunning. Thanks for doing this.
Bravo !
Great to see you building again. I do enjoy the running videos but watching you create is the best. Love the big layout, which inspired me to try to have a single track running through gorgeous scenery on my own N gauge layout, something which seems bafflingly rare. Thanks for sharing these inspirational, informative and enjoyable videos.
Iv do modern image but this makes me want to dabble in another era. This is a difficult hobby to get into so I can’t thank decent you tubers enough for showcasing skills and inspiration
I'm an American, and these videos are part of why I started becoming interested in British Railways. I was going to build one layout for HO and 00, but there is no part of Britain that is similar to the Central Valley of California where I live. I guess I'll be building two Switching/Shunting layouts now!
If these first two episodes are anything to go by, this layout extension is going to be truly brilliant. I find it always very educational watching how other modelers do things as I strive to improve my own skills. Thanks so much for sharing your skills and techniques, Cheers, Jim
Hi Lewis. Another superb demonstration of your skills, this took me back to when you started building the main layout, and we can all see what a masterpiece that turned out to be. So I'm sure this will be a superb layout when it is complete. It's coming along nicely and I'm looking forward to the next video. Brilliant as usual. Cheers Chris
Hi Lewis..Great start to the new layout...the terrain looks like the railway was built into it...😀👍...look forward to seeing the next installment in the build...😁
I know I am a year behind but this is coming on so nicely and I am taking notes. Yorkshire Dales my home county how I miss you so this is so nice to see.
Absolutely brilliant again, it takes me ages to think of things to do to my layout, then they don’t look good, you on the other hand throw some cardboard down and turn it into something great
Now that is a master class, seeing how you create your scenery out of what could only be described as a pile of cardboard on packing inserts rather than carefully sculpted materials is great 👍🏻. I already know the quality that will be the final product from your main layout, I now have a bit more confidence in grabbing what I have at hand for my own efforts.
You're a Master builder Lewis. Your techniques are strait forward with great result. This layout takes form in a splendid way. A great inspiration for Model railroaders. Excellent and beautiful. Looking forward to the next episode! Thanks for sharing and happy model railroading, Filip
I WISH my trains ran as reliably as yours! Now i know some scenery secrets too! This is the inspiration i need to clean up the rats nest of wiring under my train table! Thank you for a great video!
I am seriously considering building a 00 gauge for myself. I love the English landscapes, the distinctive architecture of the cottages, the canals - and the more conservative designs of the railways and vehicles, especially in the 30s to 70s of the last century. Everything seems somehow softer and rounder, more natural and more harmonious than in my German homeland.
That’s interesting, I get what you mean - I’d love to build a model of a German railway one day, I’ve already looked at getting a couple of German locomotives just to run on this layout!
Hey Mouldy. So good of you to show this 'scratch build' and your outstanding talents. Just b****y annoying you make it look soooo simple with soo little effort 😉
Really start to take shape. Love that small rural terminal station look, a bit like looe without the harbour... for me though it lacks a small engine shed that could go on the siding near the tunnel by just elongating the track a further 20 to 30 cm. It would equilibate the balance of buildings with the station, good shed and engine shed. Also adding a small inn near the station building (like the wills craftsman kit) would add to the feel of a station at the edge of the village. Those are just some ideas I got, as even as it is the layout looks great. Can't wait to see what will come out of the lower tunnel...
Thanks Eric. I also had the idea of an Inn, but maybe at the bottom of the embankment where the road tunnel is. I thought about perhaps having a road leading up with hill with some other buildings. Not 100% sure yet though. Only problem with the engine shed there is that it would block the shot of the trains coming out the tunnel - id maybe have to have it the other side. Also as I’m filming/imagining this as a continuation of the other layout, I didn’t want a loco shed at every station - I’ve already got one at Buckdale.
Then the simplest way would be to add a coal and water stand there, and then have a loco track without hiding the tunnel exit... the idea of the road climbing from the road tunnel to the station area in excellent, and the Inn could then be located near the tunnel, which is close enough from the station yet also closer to the village...
As ever, this is really brilliant modelling. What a great series of videos. The nice thing about your methods is that it shows you can be creative with every day materials which don't have to cost an arm and a leg. Really enjoying this and congratulations!
Fascinating watching you develop the layout and seeing it grow from the track outwards. Your last layout I discovered when it was finished so it is so much more interesting to see how skilful you are in creating the landscape. Compulsive viewing every week from now on. Paragraph

Just marvellous Lewis a lot of thought and care it will be fabulous when it is finished
Thanks Denis!
Love how the platforms are long enough for a decent sized train. Looks even better as an “end of the line” station. Reminds me of Penzance.
You know what they say about Penzance? - It's the last resort.
Sorry, I'll get my coat!
Thank you. I made sure they were long enough to get a seven coach train in this time. I see what you mean about Penzance actually!
looking very good, great way to build up the hillside....
