The quality with which those tracks are laid (including the ballast, the very long straight lines, the gentle curves, the points and of course the catenary cables) is absolutely awesome and goes a long way to procure the hyper-realism of this amazing layout. Kudos to its builders!
Yes, I was really enjoying the slight superelevation! Of course having a huge hall helps, you can build your curves exactly to scale with flexible track, but aligning this precisely is still an art.
I don’t think it’s only that. The sense of space evident in this model is very important too. On so many model railways everything is crammed together - but not here. All the roads, buildings, landscape elements etc are scaled and distanced appropriately. This adds tremendously to the realism of the whole scene.
Yes but it is all out of the packet commercial products, and therefore NOT precise. Anyone with the right modelling tools can lay commercial track as seen. But how many know how to hand build track with the precise scale measurement between the rails which in British 1:76 scale is 18.83mm. (Called Proto 4). So Pendon the famous British model railway museum near Didcot UK, has a team of experts who have spent 50 years creating the most exact layout in the world. By HAND MAKING EVERYTHING. Including locos, carriages & wagons for their 1930's reproduction of the "Vale of the White Horse" layout. Every building is also an exact copy of a real life one, many being thatched. Such a model can take a year to make as real Horse hair is needed to replicate exactly the real life "Thatching" methods !!!
I had to watch this twice. The first time I was completely mesmerised by the impossibly perfect trackwork and catenary. Only when replaying the video did I manage to take in the equally impressive trackside modelling and sky effects.. Just sublime,, thank you as always!
I was so taken in by the sheer awesomeness that I was actually startled by the appearance of the 'giants' at the 1:30 mark or so. I forget I was watching an in-cab ride from a model RR. Well done. Absolutely well done. thanks!
As both a model railroading buff and an armchair adventurer, I fully appreciate the detail that went into this construction and the enjoyment of riding in the cab of the train. Thank you for allowing me to share this ride down the tracks.
Absolutely faultless and a credit to all involved especially to the construction of the catenary and track work ,I understand the time and patience that has been spent on this magnificent layout , thank you for sharing .
On the one hand, you know you're riding along on a model railway because you can see the ceiling lights and operators in the distance, but you become so engrossed in the detail it seems real...... and then @2:16 a GIANT looms out of nowhere and brings you back to reality! Truly awsome detailing.
I am at a loss for words, this model railroad is one if not the nicest I've seen on youtube and there are a lot of super talented model railroad builders out there posting videos.
Hallucinant de beauté et de réalisme. Le plus beau, et de loin de tous les réseaux qu'il m'ait été de voir. Un chef-d'œuvre. Chapeau aux concepteurs et aux constructeurs !
As a long time rail fan, both model & full size, & a civil engineer with decades of experience designing & managing projects on the USA Northeast Corridor, I am VERY impressed with this layout, especially the catenary. You got the smallest details right, from the pull off's, to the feeder wires, to the substations. You have more overhead heavy rail catenary on your layout than we have in the entirety of the USA (pretty much all of it on the Northeast Corridor & feeder lines).
And it really reminded me that, in Europe, rail is still considered a primary element in transportation and commerce rather than being relegated to the orphan stepchild status that we see here in the US. Brilliantly executed layout!
How very extraordinary and beautiful. The shock a minute in of seeing these giant human in the background to the side lol there was a certain disconnect that just made them not seem real and not the railway lol, if you can achieve that then you really have achieved something very, very special. Thank you for sharing an incredible amount of hard work and skill, truly magnificent work
there were some minutes that i would understand if what i was watching , was real or model scale !!!!! what a great travel and TOP work to the last detail !! thank you for posting and greetings from Greece !
Considering how precisely detailed everything is, it surprises me how the loco can accelerate away so quickly from a dead stop. It's about the only thing that ruins the otherwise splendid illusion.
How the tracks are laid is beyond incredible for a model railway. Definitely a favorite among railway videos. Also - Pilentum's jingle is one of the best on TH-cam 😊
Wow. This is like a real cab ride. The detail is so realistic. The location of the other trains and stock is so proto-typical of the real railway. Well done and thank you for sharing.
My 5 year old grandson who is absolutely besotted with all trains from Steam to Electric was so mesmerized by these wonderful models....he is home schooling at the moment with me because of the muzzle mandate in Canadian schools....we watch the model train videos and then we discuss the detailed construction, the type of trains and in this particular video the landscape and the geography....so thank you for these videos they are so educational 🇨🇦🥰🇨🇦🥰🇨🇦🥰🇨🇦♥️♥️♥️♥️
Be careful, some of these videos have little models of naked people. This was my son's favorite channel, but I saw a few too many highly disturbing scenes to let him keep watching 😭
And then, there are those, whose passion allows them to be dedicated to exacting detail ,unlimited involvement, utilizing all known techniques, imagination, applied engineering and unlimited labor & time to the final outcome, they themselves, can truly accept the title of visionary creators of the ultimate grand scheme. Precision & perfection just doesn't happen. We honor you and your skills, may you never lose them.
Brilliant! Trackwork, catenary, consists of sensibly spaced passing trains, scenery, building details. One minor quibble, though, is the speed at which it attacks facing points.
'The Attack of the 50 Foot Man' . Just kidding. Amazing museum quality, for sure. True engineers, in 'both' sense of the word. Excellent Model RR Layout.
Many of you viewers may find my comment silly but in spite of all the dedication to detail which goes into the building of these beautiful scale models, it always disappoints me to watch them travel and that is due to the inaccurate speed scale...they always travel too fast for the scale to be maintained. That being cleared off my chest, the rest is absolutely perfect! Absolutely gorgeous!
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed that ride especially that long switch where we crossed 4 tracks? I thought there was going to be a rear end collision for a second!
I want to see it live! As a youngster I had a considerable Märklin system. But after I left home, my mom sold it away. My idea was to develop it further, when ever possible.
This is the second video I have seen recently that is just amazing!!! The attention to detail and amount of work is off the hook!!! Well done and thanks for sharing!!!!
Me and friends were there in June 2017. Excellent work. The whole building was created specially for this layout. There is a narrow gauge brown Crokodile on the roof outside. There is a circle layout build in the floor in the entrance. Very well all made.
Googled it and wow... I didn´t know these things/the Hallade method existed (maybe it´s not used in Germany?). So yeah, that´s great attention to detail. For anyone wondering, the Hallade pegs are there to ensure that the radius stays the same thoughout the curves while building or maintaining the railway track. You can see then at 2:10 on the left or at 2:23 between the tracks.
This is so realistic, my cat was sitting in front of me watching this and actually 'leaning into the corners.' I laughed so hard, I had to stop the video!!🤣👍 What a fantastic setup!!😁😎👍
That is quality trackwork and it’s a huge layout. The scenic work is also excellent. However, although smaller, I believe Pendon has the edge with its scenic modelling.
Sorry, the model railway layout in the Pendon Museum cannot be compared with this Swiss miniature world. The Pendon Museum offers high-quality and historically correct models and landscapes from another century.
@@pilentum..... What country it was modeled after, was Not his point.. and nor does it matter. Take it for what he said, in his opinion... that he thinks the Pendon Museums... Scenic Modelling is slightly better... that's all. Get over yourself, it doesn't need to turn into whose country does whatever, better.... it's a great and common hobby, regardless of country, language or culture, that we can all share and enjoy with each other.
Some here compared this to Miniaturwunderland in Hamburg .... I'm not sure the comparison can be fair either way. MiWuLa has different goals: As the founders have stated, they want to give viewers something interesting to look at, no matter where they stand. There once was an era when large crowds of people actually were a thing, older people may remember. MiWuLa was a very popular sight so people would stand in line at the entrance and inside, you couldn't proceed at your own pace. And you didn't have to because no matter where you were, you always had a lot of action, a lot to discover. This layout is different, it has much more realism. The real world just isn't like an endless succession of entertaining scenes every fifty meters, it has vast stretches of landscape where not much seems to change. I have watched plenty of real world cab videos, I have travelled in the front of trains, so I know what to expect and this is highly realistic. It's not as exciting as MiWuLa and it's also not built to entertain the masses, it's built to give an impression much like a Swiss mainline of today's era would be.

I was at a NJ club where they were laying track and spikes by hand. It’s dedication.
Yes. It's also the "cab" view of the work. You're not helicoptering over it like other layouts.
Straightest tangents I think I’ve ever seen, and the superelevation on the curves! Outstanding track work.
Absolutely faultless and a credit to all involved especially to the construction of the catenary and track work ,I understand the time and patience that has been spent on this magnificent layout , thank you for sharing .
Unrealistic speed, starting off

It all looks so real. Feels like your going on train ride through the countryside, such amazing detail!!
OK...we have a winner! The super-elevated tracks are incredible.
That was my first thought. Super-elevated track!
Le réalisme des decors est stupéfiant. Quelle précision ! Quelle puissance !
At some moments in the video, especially around 6:25, you would swear it was real and not just a model railway. Phenomenal work!

And editing of the video - that ruins the "precise" immersion for me :/
As well as the lack of proper signalling, which you see all the time with these displays.
It still beats my battery operated two foot circle one..
The scenic realism is astounding. Thanks for the excellent camera work.
The overhead line equipment is unbelievable!
No Kidding!
It's called catanary.. On the roof of the loco are the pantographs which contact it..
I was watching this and stopped to look for my ticket and realized it was only a model train! Very realistic! Thanks for sharing.
Until I saw the guy walking,I thought I was taking a ride on a real train. Excellent job.
I'm not even into model trains, but I find this video absolutely fascinating.
The room lighting, above the layout area - is Fantastic
Incredible! I can't even imagine the amount of man hours it took to build that layout!
Not to mention the cost.
When you put this much effort into a project you know these people really love trains and so do I....wonderful!!!

The first points encountered scared the heck out of me. I agree, switching needs to be done a bit slower.
Catenary attention to detail is second to none.
Quite a few signals passed at danger as well.....
Wow, I’m impressed !
Phantasmic trackage.

Excellent Model RR Layout.
I just felt like I had a vaction. This is amazing.

That would be the most amazing experience I have ever had.
The overhead cables are a work of art on their own.
Wonderful, amazing layout inside the Swiss minature world, the best by far I have ever seen.
Le riprese dalla cabina sono spettacolari. Fantastico. Volontà e passione, ampiamente ripagate.

At some point i forgot that its a model and all of a sudden there are those absurd huge Humas :-) Swesome
Magique . Merveilleux !!!!!!
Absolutely superb display of workmanship. The catenary construction must have been tedious!
This is a RollerCoaster! Fantastic, congratulations! Very, very nice!
Money money money. Outstanding.
beautiful video, thanks greetings Harry from Holland
Outstanding work Gentlemen! I am amazed!
Magnificent!!!
God !!!
Now i saw this ...reality doesn't seem that realistic ...
Perfect job ...congrats .
fantastic rail-ride.......
Det er dybt imponerende at se. Det der næsten imponerer mig mest er, at man har lavet køreledningsnettet så detaljeret.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Tremendo, lo mejor que vi !!!

Blimey, did you see those giants!
Absolutely amazing !! 👍😊💕
Una enorme, preciosa, detallada y precisa maqueta ferroviaria. Casi que me sentía viajando en un tren real. Felicitaciones y muchas gracias 👍💪
This layout is impressive, I love it! 🙋
Amazing fantastic.
thats a good lay out,

like the video very much .Take care & stay safe.
