The flax seed wraps recipe has been inspired by Flax Wraps from Dr. William Davis's book The Wheat Belly.

These flaxseed wraps (flaxseed tortillas) are tender and soft from the flaxseeds, crunchy from the vegetables, and so easy to make. They are great as a savory breakfast, or just as a quick, portable lunch. They are also vegan, paleo, and keto friendly.
These low-carb wraps will revolutionize your meal prep. That’s something I don’t say lightly. After making my first batch of these low-carb tortillas a few years ago, I was hooked. I have used them to wrap up pretty much anything I could think of. Some of my favorite fillings to date are hummus with alfalfa sprouts, guacamole with tomatoes, marinated tempeh strips with cucumbers and bell peppers, black bean dip with spinach and cilantro, the list could go on and on . . .
If you're looking for a low-carb bread/keto bread substitute that is vegan friendly, this recipe might become your new favorite.

For anyone in the UK it is 2 thirds of a cup of water not 2 to 3 cups. I made it wrong thinking it meant cups and I know someone else who did the exact same as me. Now I have figured out what went wrong I love making a sandwich with this wrap!!! I added half a teaspoon of garlic powder & onion powder in mine this time and they are lovely!!! Thank you for the recipe!!!

I made these wraps tonight using the dark flaxseeds, because that's all i had on hand.
I used our regular Ninja Blender to blend them, because we dont have a vitamix, and it took about 10 mins until they were ground up into a flour.
I then sifted the flour through a sieve or strainer, to get out any clumps, or in case some of the seeds didn't get ground up.
I then followed the recipe exactly as she posted, and they came out perfect.
My husband and i loved them!
We will be using this recipe again!
I think i have found my new favorite wrap!
Thank you for all of your encouraging videos! ❤️

Your recipes are absolutely amazing I've been gluten free for years with an autoimmune condition and these are just an excellent replacement for chapatis. @Avie Poll that's an interesting comment. Could you point me to your sources please.
Sorry, I'm struggling with what you say as animals get their vitamins and minerals the same place humans do - from plants - unless they are factory farmed where they get fed supplements.

    • @knechtcatherine1607
      @knechtcatherine1607 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@Avie PollAre you sure? I can clearly remember that a study showed that vegans (who didn't supplement in EPA) had almost as much EPA as omnivorous people. So doctors didn't know what to recommend anymore. To be sure there was no deficiencies, they recommended a supplementation to children, pregnant women and old people. And recently I watched a video with the dr Fuhrman who said that the supplementation was necessary for some people who had difficulties to make EPA and HDA from ALA.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THIS... i did try to make these, and didn’t succeed like yours , it was too sticky and i had trouble transfering it into the pan it kept on breaking and once in the pan it had holes in it. BUT BUT BUT although i didn’t make it perfect, my family loved it, and they asked why i didn’t make more of it😊 but because it had been such an hassle i didn’t do it again. NOW , with all the explainations that you had, i saw where i was wrong so ill try again.
Thank you so much for this . have a great day
    You’ve got a fan from martinique...😊

Try lesser water next time or add a spoon of olive oil to fix the sticky dough...

Screwed up my first try but the second it worked great. But I personally divide the dough into 8 and make little soft tacos. Thanks for the recipe!

This was SO helpful, Petra! I'm going to try it this weekend! May I ask what Tanner's occupation is? I think he should be a food critic on the side... :)

Thanks for the great recipe. Its a gold mine for low carbers! ..eating bread again! Fantastic!
    I have 3 questions:
    - Did you try reducing the quantity of water a bit to get a firmer dough that can be rolled directly on the counter without the need for parchment paper?
    - In your blog you said "Turn the heat off and stir immediately with a wooden spoon, until the flaxseed meal absorbs all the water". But in the video you actually did not turn it off until the flaxseed was all wet. So which is better in your experience?
    - Could you please post the links to those studies you mentioned, made by Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, the British Journal of Nutrition, and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition - that have concluded that the Omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseed are resistant to oxidation even when cooked for 60 minutes at 660°F (350°C) ?

Thank you for this updated version. I am still yet to try this recipe out. Flax seeds here in South Africa are very expensive so it'll be a once in a while recipe... But looking forward to making this. Have you ever tried making cauliflower pizza base? I think it's really yummy and works really well, considering you take out as much moisture as possible out of the cauliflower. Maybe you can make a video about it too? Just an idea. Greetings from Cape Town.
