  • This video is a follow-up to my sifter shaft bushings replacement video:
Harley Davidson Fatboy Shifter Shaft Bushing Replacement - Rattle noise Fixed!
    • Harley Davidson Fatboy...
    Check it out!
And in this video I adjusted the bushings position - countersinking the bushings.

I some how figured a way to have both allenhead bolt faces up top when I did my shifters installed. I removed and re- installed the rubber foot-pegs. I don’t have to remove my floorboards to make adjustments. I love the techniques you have employed. The bushing install with 11mm socket use is pure gold. 2 thumbs up!

I really appreciate the follow-up video! I tend to not be very diligent about rebuilding things until they break or are about to break. So sloppy shift linkages are part of my world. The stock shift linkage will last 20k-30k miles before it breaks, usually in the middle of nowhere. The bushings will last for a longer time but as you demonstrated, they get very sloppy over time. I was not aware of the need to countersink the bushings and I don't think there is any mention of that in the service manual (Harley or Clymer). Probably doesn't make a huge difference but better to do the job right. FWIW I always remove as much of the old loctite as I can before reinstalling fasteners. Great video!

Excellent this is the same for Heritage Classic O7 by the way.

Glad I seen part 2. Just bought a 2011 heritage and notice my shifter is sloppy. I wouldn’t buy a tool either and will do as you did. Thanks
