CAVALERA has become synonymous with extreme metal music, a name that to this day still holds the highest regard, a family legacy built upon decades of musical aggression. In 2023, Max and Iggor Cavalera achieved what some would say was an impossible feat; they revisited their earliest releases, Morbid Visions, and Bestial Devastation, and re-recorded them with bone-breaking intensity. A risk that few would dare to even attempt, yet they artfully and prolifically attained their trademark raw sound by means that could only be described as magic or time travel.
It seems that the ball would not stop rolling as now they are entering the final chapter of their early-days trilogy. Schizophrenia is an iconic album in terms of early thrash and death metal, a household name for those of us invested in extreme metal. This was the point where the Cavaleras refined their dark, dingy, speed-influenced songs, into something a bit more mature, developed, and technical. Decades later, they have once more unlocked the asylum that is Schizophrenia, opening the doors to that banished, twisted recording which will be unleashed unto to world on June 21st, 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Max Cavalera states, "The Third World Trilogy is finally complete with Schizophrenia, Bestial Devastation, and Morbid Visions, all three Brazilian underground gems! To me, Schizophrenia is the ultimate death/ thrash experiment! I was inspired to take on the world and this recording shows my commitment is relentless! This one is for all the generations to enjoy! Play at Max volume!"
Iggor Cavalera comments, “1987 was a very progressive year for metal, with releases like CELTIC FROST Into The Pandemonium, VOIVOD Killing Technology, and BATHORY Under The Sign Of The Black Mark, so it was no surprise on how we approached Schizophrenia pushing our boundaries from a black/death metal sound to a more thrash metal aesthetics. We still had some ideas from Morbid Visions and some new songs. I’m very proud of the songwriting and even more proud of our re-recordings.”
Schizophrenia will be available digitally and in the following formats:
- CD Jewel
- Light Blue Cassette (Ltd to 500)
- Sky Blue and Black Marbled Vinyl (Ltd to 600)
- Transparent Curacao Vinyl
Schizophrenia track list:
1. From The Past Comes The Storms
2. To The Wall
3. Escape To The Void
4. Inquisition Symphony
5. Screams Behind The Shadows
6. Septic Schizo
7. The Abyss
8. R.I.P. (Rest In Pain)
9. Nightmares of Delirium (New, never before heard track)
No stranger to collaborations, the Cavalera brothers enlisted Travis Stone (PIG DESTROYER) on lead guitars, and that choice becomes obvious within the first song. The full lineup would consist of more Cavalera alumni, as Igor Amadeus Cavalera (GO AHEAD AND DIE, HEALING MAGIC) once more brought his talents on bass to the fold. Thundering and thrumming the low end with brute force, it is clear that the double Iggor and Igor combination is a rhythm section to be reckoned with.
It should come as no surprise that the CAVALERA brothers always felt that these songs deserved a fresh take with modern production. From April 15th to June 5th, 2023 the band re-recorded the album at Focusrite Room in Mesa Arizona. Mixing and mastering was handled by Arthur Rizk (SOULFLY, GO AHEAD AND DIE, TURNSTILE).
Schizophrenia’s album cover has obsessed and fascinated fans for decades. The brothers left no stone unturned and no detail unnoticed, also revisioning the original cover artwork of the album, restored in hand-painted watercolors by Eliran Kantor.
CAVALERA is:
Max Cavalera | Vocals, Guitar
Iggor Cavalera | Drums, Percussion
Igor Amadeus Cavalera | Bass
Travis Stone | Lead Guitar

Amazing, that's how re-recordings are made, by keeping the essence and atmosphere of the original, and not falling into the trap of sterilizing sound with overly clean production, just because it's a state of the art.
Finallyyyy!!Ahhhhhgh👊🤛💪👊

I'm impressed. Sounds great
Them The Best People
I listened to this record for the first time when I was 12 in 1988 and it sounds so perfect and amazing at 48 years old now. The Schizo-Beneath-Arise years were my favorite Sepultura records to skate to as a teenager.
Still the best band to skate nowadays 💪

I've really enjoyed this trilogy of re-recordings. Great work 👏🏼
So good to be hearing this album again. This was one of my favorite sepultura albuns growing up. Sepultura was my first concert. Rock in Rio 2, 1991. Hell yeah! Vinyl pre order birthday gift. Thank you Cavalera Brothers, your songs have helped me a lot with my mental health 🤘!

Inquisition Symphony has always been fkn amazing!!! Highly underrated instrumental that nobody talks about !!
Yeah, that's a masterpiece, no doubt about it. I had similar feelings getting to know the call of kthulu, listening to it hundreds of times and analyzing the brilliance of each note, I have the same experience with this instrumental. The number of riffs, melodies, changes, breaks is impressive.
This is great and I usually hate re-recordings.

Exodus re-recording BBB is so good album. Dukes the vocalist
Rerecordings are usually a sign of creative bankruptcy... however, Schizo and Morbid Visions deserved and warranted re-recordings, so we can hear what the Cavalera bros intended them to sound like in the 80's, if they weren't poor and constrained by tiny budgets! Their next album should be an original work though. No need to remake Beneath The Remains...

Absolutely do not touch “Beneath the Remains”, and “Arise”, they perfect the way they are. These first three are outstanding, but if you guys redo Beneath and Arise, they will lose its magic. I understand why you are doing this, I get it. But there just something special about those two albums that will be lost.
True
I absolutely love the cavalera brothers era sepultura ❤🤘
also known as the metal era of sepultura (except roots)
Hearing a death/thrash classic with modern production is sick as hell. Max still has great vocals even in his 50s!
modern production sucks ass. robs it of all it's necro glory. clicky kick drum.... yuck
@@coldacre9211 Maybe, formerly I didn't like the original production but got used to it, not sure about this rendition yet, not a fan at first listen. For starters, I would like the vocal more in forefront. And of course, the Andreas' soloing is absolutely unique, inimitable, superb in its own way.
@@coldacre9211 This is modern production done right though.
Sounds A LOT closer to what would be considered good Metal production in the early 90s, than the stereotypical "modern Metal" mix. Literally sounds like a slightly smoother version of the original Beneath The Remains production style...
This sounds nothing like modern metal productions and I love it.

Great re-recording, I love Inquisition Symphony and Screams behind the Shadows, at least we can hear the bass this time...
They need to do live, on tour
The REAL Sepultura !!!!!
These last 3 releases are incredible. I haven't liked any re-recorded albums before. You guys know how to do it! You still capture all of the original vibes but make the production just a little better. Still raw but better. That's just amazing.
There are few albums that travel with you throughout your life that you hear something new every now and then at different phases of your life... but this album travelled with me for so long.. that every riff, lick and hook remained undiluted taking me back to the parts of my life that I cherish the most.... glad max and igor did this in my hour of need. Thank you Cavalera 🤘🙏

I remember it from 1987, it was one of the best metal bands ever !
I totally agree!
The FREAKING best "south hemisphere" metal band Ever and if Max wouldn't leave because Andreas, Paulo and even Igor fired Gloria... Sepultura would get massive and BiG as Metallica worldwide after Roots album or even bigger🤘🤘
The three re-records are absolute amazing. The real Sepultura, no doubt! But I got to say, I missed The abyss. Such a beautiful acoustic tune. I still play it in the acoustic to this day.
I was waiting for this. I love you guys. My dad listened to the old school sepultura in highschool and I got into Sepultura and Soulfly through him. This and morbid visions are probably my favourite albums.
FROM THE PAST COMES THE MONEY
This might be the best re-recording of any album, ever. I personally love the way the original sounds and it's probably my favorite of their discography. I am in the camp that re-recording old albums is not a good idea but this new version totally captures that same raw energy and vibe. THIS is how speed / thrash metal is supposed to sound!
I prefer the original. i don’t like modern drums and the over bearing kick drum. Schizophrenia was perfect the way it was: Andreas solo’s were perfection.
@@coldacre Hard to argue on the solos from the original, they are perfect. The ones on this new one are quite solid though.

MAX and IGOR CAVALERA in my heart FOREVER .......
Dreamed of this re recording a long time ago due to the poor original sound and today is the day to play this at full power.
Thanks for this!
I have been and remain a fan of the old Sepultura for over 20 years, during the period when Max Cavalera was in the band. And over the years I've always wondered what great works like Morbid Visions and Schizophrenia might have sounded like if they had been recorded better in the first place. Many thanks to Max and Igor for the implementation of these works; I was especially pleased with the opportunity to hear the new remake of “Schizophrenia.” Thanks to everyone who took part in the recording of the album.
you can definitely feel this brothers still have the ANGER !!!!
No Cavalera, No Sepultura!!!
THIS IS AMAZING!!!! I know re-recordings get flamed, but this is PERFECT. These first three records are legendary and deserve this refresher because the current "Sepultura" SUCKS ASS. Now, if we could get a true reunion with the original line up that would be amazing. However, this works for me because the Cavalera brothers are ALL we need.
We got a reunion live recently it’s on TH-cam look up the Cavalera’s jamming with Jairo T the complete original 3-piece lineup that recorded the first couple releases 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

My Top 10 favorite Metal-album all time!👍Great JOB!
They've done it yet again! The original version had a funny sound to the toms as if the cutoff and resonance settings were off, but it's good now. This album just doesn't let up.
prefer the funny resonance, mid heavy guitars, natural kick drum in the background, Andreas shredding and a band performance. this is a bit too "pro tools" and not a collection of starving teenagers. each to their own (plus Max's right hand is weak)
I'm 259 years old and I like both, the original and the re-recording
I'm 259 months old and I agree.
They managed to make it sound new in a good way, yet oldschool in a good way too. A difficult balance to strike!
Back then, the Schizo-Beneath-Arise trilogy put to shame every thrash and death metal band out there (yes, even Slayer).
They were up there with Sodom in my opinion
You are not wrong. Those albums are part of the catalyst to transformation into a metal head for a whole generation.
YOU ARE A FUNNY GUY. SLAYER SHOW NO MERCY IS EPIC. MUCH BETTER THAN THIS ALBUM
@@waynekeer Show No Mercy is great but come on, Araya's vocals are way too goofy.
I agree even though I do appreciate Slayer as well... But Max is a better skilled frontman than Tom Araya period.
I heard this album for the first time on my first acid trip in high school, on halloween. 35 years later, i still blast this motherfucker in the machine shop all the time! I usually don't like re-recorded albums but this is awesome! They managed to keep the same raw, intense and schizophrenic vibe! Good job, i love it!
