Excellent video. Great to see an older car be given a new lease of life. I would love to do this to a manual 991 C4S, prep it for a winter European road trip, ski racks on the roof...
thank you , FGP . for your most awesome , utube content . you deserve everything you want ..more videos . educate us in America . In everything Porsche .
When we were buying a 996 from FGP, Olly or Luke mentioned that Porsche quality of fasteners as well as access for mechanics, the 996 was peak. 997 similar but a few weak spots. After that, quality is inferior. At least, that’s my recollection. I continue to be very happy with my car.
If you want the cheapest 996/997, don’t come to FGP. If you treasure classic or near classic 911s and desire a zero faults car, definitely consider them. This era of Porsche is high quality and those who know what they’re doing are capable of refreshing, upgrading and preparing these cars to a high standard. In particular, the paint on these cars is amazingly durable and if needed, polishing to showroom condition is an expectation.
An aluminium PDK cover with removable filter is available. Why was this not used ? Costs only £100 more. Also would have help keep the temp down in the box. Interested in your comments
I love those seats, I want those one day in my 997.2 that is also Basalt Black Metallic. They look great. I like the steering wheel refresh too, the leather on mine is not aging well. What did you find with that oil leak on the back side of the oil pan? I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the oil pressure sensor that is right there on the back of the oil pan.
I have a 2004 996 C4S that is pretty much immaculate on the outside and has 19 annual service stamps - but am considering bringing to you for a once-over as looks like you have a real attention to detail and know these cars inside out. But I'm curious how much all that work cost (I'm guessing £8k?. Wouldn't it have been better to use the money to buy a newer car?

I'm curious how much that all cost if you are willing to talk about that.

The more detail of the jobs done in the videos the better. I need to do my driver side door check strap. Great video.

Excellent work and very detailed.
Would love to know the cost of the mechanical refresh and the interior refresh separately.

What’s wrong with the original alloys? Not watched vid yet just curious
This is great - but what did it cost ?

Looks superb, dread to think of the cost for the interior though..!
Just out of interest Luke, what do you do with the old parts? Do they get reconditioned?
All that work and never changed the alloys !
Alloys look great
Post more of these videos!
Awesome work, any chance you can share the mileage of this car?
Do you go to this level of detail with you cars that you have for sale ?

What mini heat torch do you use?
How much is the suspension refresh on its own?
What's the difference between 'Porsche genuine parts' and Sebro? I put Sebro on my 997 and they're fine but half the price.Cheers

Are the prices off 996 falling luke
Cost?
