Based on the highly successful SC-44 Charger, the ALC-42 is designed specifically for cross-country service on America’s most scenic and storied routes, displaying an updated appearance with a new nose profile and cab door configuration. Thanks to both Siemens and Amtrak®, Bachmann’s ALC-42 has been developed using original design documentation and employs prototype field recordings for maximum realism. Features include a TCS WOWSound® CD-quality 16-bit 44,100Hz decoder with Audio Assist® for easy configuration without CVs, and a Keep-Alive® device for uninterrupted operation, even over dirty track. The WOWSound® diesel-electric locomotive package includes an authentic horn, bell, prime mover, startup/shutdown, compressor, cooling fan, coupler close/release, brake release/application, crew alert, grade crossing quill, station announcements, and more. Bachmann does Siemens locomotives well.
I work on these at the factory and got 305 it was the first one I worked on and it was so cool that they made that one!! Beautiful model pricy but worth it!

These are dual-mode locomotives, meaning they will work natively on both DCC and DC layouts.
@@BachmannTrainsUSA That's interesting it's a dual-mode, I wonder how well that operates. But, I think it would be cool if there was a basic DCC-ready version to make it more affordable. I loved the Bachmann Amfleets by the way, they run great!
Maybe some of us don’t want to spend the extra 100 $. We do t need the DCC. Then again some of us don’t want to buy Bachmann- thanks to this being “exclusive”. Maybe I want it from Athearn Genesis or Scaletrains. I’d rather have a scale model not a toy like Atlas or Walthers like you

I know some private model rr company is making one. MTS doesn’t make the models, they only sell them. These ALC’s are made by Bachmann (obviously) and they have made a Acela set so i would assume when a official Avelia train set comes to service then they will make one. Hope this helps!

I think next year 309 and 310 should be added because 309 is the first ALC-42 to be in Phase VII paint and 310 is the second.

Will there be passenger cars comming out for this? I know amtrak is getting the whole trainsets. With matching coaches.
These currently run with Amfleets and Superliner consists, so there's plenty currently available to run them with - as for the Airo train sets, wouldn't that be something...
What about the VIA , is the VIA charger getting released at the same time, and are you doing passenger cars too (VIA)
Our VIA Charger will be shipping at a later date, as some tooling changes are necessary to replicate the different features found on the SC-42.

You should equip all of your locomotives and rolling stock with Kadee #141 magnetic magnetic knuckle couplers.

Fun Fact: That The Amtrak ALC-42 Will Take Over To Replace The P42DC Locamotives And There Was Due To Be 70 ALC-42 Locamotives With Amtrak That Some Will Arrive In 2024

One steam engine I would like to see come back in at your scale hasn't been made in a long time What I would like to see is an HO scale diecast model of the Texas and New Orleans railroad P14 class Pacific that pulled the Sunbeam passenger trains between Dallas and Houston Texas I'm impressed with your streamlines Pennsylvania Railroad K4 Pacific locomotive hopefully you can bring back the Texas New Orleans P14 Pacific locomotives too
