I actually have one of those things. It’s the older Spectrum version, but I am going to outfit it with the newer version’s decoder and sound profile. I got the thing for only $35, so I don’t really feel bad about changing it too much. After all, the old PCB board is on its last stages, and it won’t be long before I have to replace it.
Hi Bachmann, are there any plans to reintroduce some of your discontinued Thomas buildings? (Like Knapford station and the brendam warehouse). I and many other people would like to get them, but they are virtually impossible to get on the resale market. Thanks.
Hello Bachmann question with your Baldwin 4-4-0 would it be able to be assembled with all of your parts for it just asking because I’m working on a project and I would like to know or could you guys think about re releasing the Baldwin 4-4-0 with the Detroit and Lima northern scheme I think it would just be so cool to see it again on the store just an idea but I think others would love it to
I would assume, that it is for those whom went through all of the gear issues. I re-powered a few of the older Spectrum series units , using self motorized trucks from a 3rd party maker.
I have the Santa Fe model abd an trying to unlock some of the Tsunami2 features. Is there a full soundtraxx manual for the decoder, so I can play with the cv's?
The motor has been upgraded from previous versions of this model (new gear material for smoother, longer-lasting operation, etc) and is further enhanced by the inclusion of Soundtraxx Hyperdrive2 Advanced Motor Control for refined low-speed operation. We are additionally offering paint schemes and road numbers not featured in previous runs.
The "Day 1" ALC-42 Charger was a limited edition run. As such, we are not planning on reissuing it. You may still be able to find it at certain online retailers, however.
I have one that cost 1/4 of the price of this “new” version, and it ran like crap. I think these desperately need upgrading, especially if you are going to charge $399!!!
These have been internally upgraded from previous runs. They now feature new, more durable, long-lasting gears, and are refined for more realistic slow-speed operation. This is in addition to the inclusion of Soundtraxx Tsunami2 sound, which features Hyperdrive2 Advanced Motor Control for further refined low-speed operation. If the version you have had a poor experience with was from our very first run of 44 Tonners, these had pancake motors that have since been entirely replaced with a more modern skew-wound motor. Also worth noting, the $399 price is our MSRP for ordering direct. You will find a lower price if you purchase through a retailer.
@@BachmannTrainsUSA thanks for the info and great to hear about the upgrades!! A new motor would definitely help!! Is the new motor the same size as the old one? If so I might buy one from the spares department to replace the current one in mine.
I have a Thomas and friends request or 2 for HO scale so for starters my son loves you guys he has a Bachmann Thomas train set of HO scale but my request if you guess want to and can could you guys try to make lady and diesel 10 they are both engines and are my sons favorite 😅 so if you guys can that would be awesome
@@BachmannTrainsUSA I am happy about the gear issue being handled. I discovered through trial and error that nylon plastic is not at all good for model train application. They tend to crack/fracture under constant use. By chance, are the newer gears made of delrin plastic??. That type will last for ages as it's an industrial grade of plastic that will stay strong .
Looks like you'd be better off getting it from Rapido. Not only are they somehow cheaper than Bachmann (DCC and sound engines included) but are less likely to have those ugly molded lines and details
@@HighIronProductions Even if ordering indirectly from Bachmann, I still think that Rapido takes the cake for this model. For What Bachmann continuously lacks in detail and improvements, the extra 30-50 something dollars you could spend on the Rapido makes up for everything Bachmann lacks and more
These do feature a small stay alive capacitor that gives the locomotive some momentary additional power to help over minor problem spots. Have you experienced performance problems with a model from this release?
He looks like a kind fellow, i think ill name him Bob :D

Nice. I want the B&O.
I have an idea for the Bachmann Thomas range, It's the Old Coaches from Series 1.
Will you guys ever bring back the 45 ton switcher
Let's Go Strasburg! :D

The Rapido version just started shipping as well. It has an ESU loksound decoder, a power pack, higher detail and is cheaper. Who is this for?

You should be able to find all the information you need here: soundtraxx.com/manuals/tsunami2-digital-sound-decoder
@@BachmannTrainsUSA thanks much! I actually thought of that after I wrote the comment. I had fun playing with DDE last night!

Check with your retailer on their price, as it will likely be lower than our MSRP
hopefully will appear in N Scale too soon
A new N scale run was recently announced this past month.
