I like having the dual start option. On my first flight I had a self-inflicted engine out, accidently hit the kill switch. With all that goes on during the first flight, I was grateful to be able to hit a button and be running again.

first of all: e start is worth it. leave the crappy hand pull thing off. in my opinion this have same reason not to be on any ppg than on your turbine plane. electric start is a must have.
by the way 1 year ago i asked you about trimmer settings on wing. you answered and helped me alot. thanks to you i finally able to nail landings. come around and look. just found our converation 1 sear ago and wanna say thanks. cheers mate. 😊

Hey buddy thanks for the post and the update. I think those with e-start wouldn't want to go back! Glad you got those landings brother! That makes the sport so much more fun, happy to help!

I have also heard that starters are prone to failing around 50 hours. Mine has between 70 and 80 hours so I must be due...

Yeah when it goes it just stops working. Nice to have the pull option until you can swap it out.

Thanks for the awesome comprehensive video! I do not believe there is an e-Start option available for the Polini Thor 202, though at 120 hours so far, using the choke, I rarely have to pull more than once or twice to start. But I also don't have any shoulder issues! Thanks Adam!

Im on my third Vittorazi starter. They seem to last about 70 hours of flying time for me. Im told Vortex Aero makes a starter for the Moster 185. Vortex claims its better than the Vittorazi starter. Im gonna try one next time. If anyone has already tried a Vortex Aero starter comment here and let me know how it is, thanks. Oh and I love Estart and will keep fixing it every time!

Right there with ya... maybe your getting more time as I probably kill and restart 2-3 times each flight due to the soaring time.
I'd be open to trying something new.

nside the starter there is a spring and bayonets on the axis, which is a complex mechanism prone to fatigue, so a mechanical starter is better. When ordering the starter, it is still necessary to check the number of starter teeth to match the starter ring on the engine.

Are these newer motors still having the exhaust cracking problem or has that been fixed?

Buy a vortex aero. I replaced my vitto one with theirs at 30hrs. Im now at 100hrs no issues with the vortex aero. Also they sell a bendix gear you can buy and fix the vitto starter if thats the issue. Note im not a huge fan of vortex, but I can say ive had zero issues from their starter. With a bigger battery than I had with the vitto.

Interesting, is it a direct replacement?
