Dave didn't like the way he sang but couldn't find someone who could do what he wanted. Rather than pay someone else to be 'not quite right' he took on the vocal part. I'm glad he did. I've always liked the way he sings.
Return To Serenity by Testament would be great. Phenomenal song with a totally phenomenal guitar solo by Alex Skolnick. The studio version are the best. Think they shortened the guitar solo in the original video. A metal Ballad by one of the best thrash bands ever
Countdown To Extinction WAS Megadeth's break out album into the mainstream, and yes there are a few off that album that were radio play worthy. The album was basically Megadeth's Black Album.
Thank you for making Judson react to this modern classic. I started listening to metal in '92 and CTE was one of the first metal albums for me. Brings back good memories. Keep up the great work, guys! This channel deserves at least 10x the subscribers and I'm sure you'll get there.
I absolutely love the mix of this Album. The crunchiness of the guitar tone is amazing. I don't feel any band has replicated it since. Some will say its too clean but something about it just makes me happy.
This is the second time, I think, Judson brings up The Beatles with Megadeth, namely in the seeming nonsequitur nature of his music and lyrics. Very cool, especially since I've been spending my entire life figuring out what makes MD such an instrumental (pun!) band for me. I think that's a big part of it.
For a more recent Megadeth song.. I would highly recommend "Poisonous Shadows" To me there are just some songs that have that epic feel.. like they are intended to be played in a mega theater in front of hundreds of thousands of fans.. complete with a backing orchestra. A few examples would be: Guns and Roses - November Rain Iron Maiden - Empire of the Clouds Ted Nugent - Stranglehold Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell Alanis Morrissett (sp?) - Uninvited Peter Frampton - Do You Feel Like We Do Songs of this type are, to me anyway, larger than life.. so to speak.. and meant to be felt more than heard.
Oh no it's the remastered version with those plastic drums. For some reason it's also missing Marty Friedman's guitar harmonies which are supposed to happen every time the chorus plays a second time in a row. Crucifixion time :)
Interesting to see how his mind processes the music. A more subtle indication; even though he might sit still for a moment, his eyes will bounce left and right, as if he’s tracking his hand movements on the keys. He hears the notes and subconsciously his eyes are finding their respective locations on the piano. I’m a little surprised you haven’t played him Queensryche, Take Hold of the Flame. I know a lot of folks have done reaction videos to it, but most of them are Vocalists. I heard him say something about his dislike for Jon Oliva’s voice. He doesn’t like those high shrieking registers. It would be interesting to see him process Geoff’s voice, plus being an overall classic metal song. Cheers!
It isn't the most complicated song ever, but it's a good one. But man, can Marty Friedman design and play a guitar solo. His stuff is always interesting to listen to.
Actually Countdown to Extinction was the first Megadeth album to be recorded on digital. That helped them a lot with the drums and the solos; there was a making of or something like that explaining this.
SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION is a great album. Is not a weak song on it. It's among my favs of Megadeth.Marty Friedman is my favorite Megadeth lead guitarist ever .
Oh my gosh “Wanna know how I know you’re gay?” 😂 Never thought 40 Year Old Virgin, my favorite sequence in the movie, would make a reaction video about music! Great job Richard 🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯 Mr. J should have said “Touché!”
tears for fears!!! :D:D:D:D mad world!! judson!! you know good music!! make richad hear start of the breakdown (live from 1983) from TTF, so awesome!!!
@@Greatmeasures No problem! If you are a gamer I can probably tell you where you heard it as well. It was used for a trailer for one of the gears of war games. I can't remember which one now though
@@MrDalesen I’m trying to remember where I heard it, but I can’t recall. That’s definitely the version I was thinking of though. We shot this video over a week ago and it’s been driving me crazy since. 😂 I really do appreciate it.
I thought his piano was Offspring - 'Gone Away'. I like other older Megadeth albums as a whole better than Countdown, but as individual songs some of my favorites are on Countdown. Ashes, Captive Honor especially.
As someone from 1991 and who just turned 33, I thought for a second that I could slash ten years from my age all of a sudden. But alas, Richard is just not that good at math...
Saw them live a few years ago with Fabio Lione doing vocals. They absolutely destroyed, and Fabio even put the mic down and you could hear him crystal clear over the whole band. Unreal how tight the whole band is, and how goddamn incredible a singer Fabio is.
While you listened to Judson's piano intro, you moved such with the chair, i feared you are close to the stage's edge and just let you fall down to escape from that mad world. Ok, this comment might annoy people. So, i am actually just happy, that whatever algorithm made me find you to listen to new aspects in analyzing great music.
Hi there! Why don't you try to do it backwards? Let's make Judson play some short classical pieces to Richard, so, he can express himself how he feels with them? It would be interesting to hear the reaction of a metal head to Mozart for example. Greetings from Chile, you guys rock!
Honestly I think this is my favorite Megadeth, depsite it being simpler and less "Megadethy" compared to other ones. I have a warm place for A tout le monde as well. Also, when do you dip your toes in Middle-Eastern metal? try some Orphaned Land!
They're all absolutely insane musicians, but Russell Allen's vocals on that whole album, but especially that song are mind blowing. They have no right being that fucking good haha
Yes this is a good song and all but the album has a lot of other great songs. Ashes in Your Mouth, Captive Honor and my personal favorite Foreclosure of a Dream. It's always Symphony
You probably thought of Gary Jules who also sang Mad World and that version was in movie "Donnie Darko".
Megadeth - Ashes in your mouth. Pinnacle Megadeth
Hard to say pinnacle when their actual peak was the album prior. But that is a killer track all the same.
Both albums are quintessential. This track is mainstream metal, perfect warm up . Ashes is the best from Megadeth IMO.
My favourite album of any band
This! 🔥
My man❤
Dave didn't like the way he sang but couldn't find someone who could do what he wanted. Rather than pay someone else to be 'not quite right' he took on the vocal part. I'm glad he did. I've always liked the way he sings.
this was megadeth's version of the black album (more commercial and polished than earlier albums, but too good to be mad at)
I always thought Youthanasia was that
This slowly has become a must watch music review channel. love this channel , keep up the good work and great content.
Thank you!
Loved the way Judson just turned around and bust out some piano Symphony, this is why I love this channel 💚🤙
Thank you!
And who the hell has access to Steinway piano! Have you seen its price?
You have your medals Judson! 🎉
I think Judson would really like Testament - Return To Serenity
Yes! Killing Season by Testament!

Love this tune.
'ashes in your mouth' is the ONE off this record 👌
Love the intro piano piece, i live just down the road from the house they wrote that in
Instantly recognize Mad World. Nice
It's kind of their 'Enter Sandman'. Simply a very good rock song.
Very good comp
That was awesome. I never knew Tears For Fears wrote Mad World. I immediately watched the original video and it was awesome. Thanks Judson🤘🤘
I absolutely love the mix of this Album. The crunchiness of the guitar tone is amazing. I don't feel any band has replicated it since. Some will say its too clean but something about it just makes me happy.
I second everyone’s comment about Ashes in Your Mouth. That has to be next. The composition of that song is perfect
Reckoning Day is an interesting one to give a listen to, all the key switches and Dave testing out his vocals and all.
So confident when he said "22 years, I can do maths." 😂

Countdown to Extinction debuted at number 2 9n Billboard Charts in 1993. Beat out by Billy Ray Cyrus. Achey Breaky Heart.😮😮
oof.
i guess i get it though, achy breaky was an earworm in the worst way.
😆😆😆
Oh geez, don't tell my heart
Although i know Roland wrote that song Judson played i always think of REM when i listen to it, and this time wasn't different.
good to see Judson feeling more relaxed. whe're here for your insights bud!
Mad World and Symphony of Destruction are two of my favorite songs!!!! WOOT

😂😂😂
This song came out when i was in gardening 7 i couldnt play the solo at all , now i still can and love it ! Thanks for the dive !
Honestly, as simple as this song is like
Walk by Pantera, it never gets old.
I can't be the only one who thinks Walk is one of the most overrated metal songs of all time, right? And I love and grew up on Pantera.
They already did it I think
@@LG_7984agree, but megadeath is way more overated ))))

Watch peoples’ heads a roll
You right. Maybe he just meant the chorus? Either way I’m glad Judson seems to enjoy Megadeth !
Those drums are just resonating with me on this one more then ever for some reason. Sweet groove.

E TOUT LE MONDE is an underrated song . A simple but solid written deep song .
