Working in tech is usually associated with software engineers and data scientists working at Meta, Google, Apple, Amazon, Netflix etc. There are very few videos talking about what it's like to work in tech as a mechanical engineer, so I decided to make this video sharing my experience working in Silicon Valley as a mechanical engineer. I'll talk about the expectations, work schedule, skills, job responsibilities, and lessons I learned along the way.

Thank you for posting your videos! You really inspire us engineering students. I personally am interested in working at Space X or NASA, but I know of a lot of people that are studying mechanical engineering and wonder if they can work in the “tech” industry in Apple, Google, and companies as such. This is a very important and interesting video, I’ll sent it to them.

I love engineering but it wasn’t paying the bills, a lot of companies like to hire on a project by project basis, atleast that’s how it was in the early 00’s, I was broke asf, I went back to school for nursing and I was earning more after 3 years as a registered nurse than I ever made as an engineer. It’s more stressful but I love the social aspect & I get a lot of respect from the docs for being an engineer lol! Not that it matters but it’s because they understand the academic struggle. I’ll say this, if you ever get tired of engineering or it no longer becomes profitable for you, medicine is a great option provided you pick the field that’s best for you, lastly, the nurse anesthetist field would suit alot of people with an engineer’s mindset, it’s filled with a lot of problem solving, science, diagnostics & it pays very, very well, and employment is not an issue.
