Mechanical Engineering Interviews Be Like

- The goal of this video is to portray what a typical mechanical engineering interview process is like, from the first round with HR to the last round with a senior executive, such as the VP of Engineering. I've interviewed for over 30 mechanical engineering job positions across the US and China over the past several years and have incorporated some common questions asked by interviewers as well as lessons that I learned in to this video. Although engineering interviews vary from company to company, they follow a general format.
The interview process is without question very stressful, whether it's preparing for the actual rounds of interviews, waiting to hear back from a company with a decision, or making it to the final round of interview and having the company ghost or reject you. As cliché as it may sound, I've learned a lot through job rejections and wouldn't be where I am today without them. It's human nature to feel discouraged or depressed after a rejection, but what matter's most is how you respond. Keep learning from your mistakes, continue applying to new opportunities, and never give up.

This is definitely a video everyone prepping for and going through interviews must watch. I've done several interviews and it's scary how accurate this is🔥
I really liked the story telling of the interview! Great video!
Thank you for the time you put into this. Im currently in school getting my bachelors in engineering.
If there was one thing I learnt from this video, those questions you asked at the end of each interview round - where you get expectations and understanding of the position - those clearly make you standout!
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. even for a non-engineer like me much of this is relatable, especially the internal dialog, post interview signoff/goodbyes lol.
That means a lot man!
This one is so gud man.. I myself hv given so many Mech Product Design IVs & it's so relatable.
You produce quality videos. Good shit.
thanks for the video 🙏
As a mechanical engineer I have experienced almost all of the thoughts during interviews specially with Engineering/tech managers or supervisors. Thank you for the tips. Regards!
Great video.
Great video Mate. 谢谢啊
Gave us what we need
What would you advise for those who loves this (ME) major but bad at communicating in English ?
I easily got the 1st question right and your answer still made me feel stupid 😂
So glad I didn’t go into this field.
Do you have any updates on this application?
Greetings
I want to ask for guidance. There is BEng Mechanical Engineering and BEng Mechanical and Mechatronics (50%ME and 15% EE , basically Embedded Systems is added and an application of embedded systems) which one do recommend me to take?
Is it permissible to google a question in the middle of the interview? If the camera is on, he or she can see what you are doing then how you take so much time and also google it...can you please share the trick.
Can we get your pdf of questions asked you've written over time.
so i got all the questions right and haven't started engineering yet, should I just go look for a job?
150K???? WHAT, I'm here hoping to get 30K in Europe as a mechanical engineer. I know Americans make more but I'm not even sure was this some absurd number as joke?
Still found the video to be fairly accurate, amazing that you took the effort to stimulate the whole procedure 👍
It definitely varies a lot in the US. I only make 80k here in the East Coast😂
Appreciate it! Salaries are much higher in California because of the insane COL😂
Italy?
Yeah mech E in most Texas jobs is about half that if your starting but then again cost of living is like half of that too
Not a troll, just sharing views, please don’t take it to heart!
Remember those who don’t speak up, are the real murderer
I wonder why clothes get smaller over time after washing and drying. Can a mechanical engineer provide the explanation?
Oh my God this crazy, I am a second language speaker and English is my weakness I don't how I will be answering interviews with confidence 😢 oh my God I think I need to change my major!
I totally understand because many of my college friends were international students who spoke broken English. However, many of them ended up working at reputable companies. Keep improving your listening and speaking skills through daily practice and repetition. I don't think you should switch majors🙂
Have you ever thought of teaching mechanical engineering here on youtube? I know i would be super interested in learning!
I've definitely considered it😉
How did you obtain permanent residency in the United States?
I'm a US citizen haha
So this is an entry level position he is applying for and he has four years of experience?
don't want to offend, i have given interviews in both the software and mechanical fields, software engineering interviews seem harder in the US than india, but not mechanical
Is orange still hiring?
orange is always hiring🤑
lol
At the end with the VP of engineering interview, why did u ask about the company long term goals?
You are applying a junior to mid level position, shouldn’t u be asking what project will u be working on if u were hired? What tools or software do they use for your projects, etc?
Also, the way you answer and your tone are so monotonous (like a robot) is that really how u answer in the interview?
U want to be like a normal person to person chat in a social environment.
