99.1 isn't enough for engineers, especially if the acad scores aren't 9/9/8. A batchmate of mine with a similar profile got into IIMA after 99.96 percentile. For GEMs it is tough.
Even though I didn't get a call from BLACKI doesn't mean that I didn't have good calls. I still had calls from NITIE, IIMS, etc. And if your profile is creating doubts in your mind, focus on colleges like XLRI, FMS, SIBM, SCMHRD, JBIMS, etc.

Hi Mohit, you can Google Arun Sharma's formula book and you'll find it on my website - nonengineers. You can use that as a reference for revision. I'd suggest you to watch the video on 4 months reality check or hours required (both have recently been published) - they share about this phase called "strengthening your weaker areas". You need to work on this to stabilize your mock scores.

Sibm Pune is tier 1 - b category clg falling into the same category of baby iims, choosing sibm Pune is a good choice. A lot of people are confused with categorization of colleges on the basis of their brand value and packages, a video on tier 1,2 colleges will be helpful.

Hello didi, one query from my side: So I'm preparing for next year's CAT and I'm getting many calls for various positions in many clubs and societies of my College. So our academic schedule is pretty hectic and and these club activities demand a lot. So I'm thinking not to apply to those calls, so as to focus on my preparation but it also bothers me to miss out on these wonderful opportunity which could help me build my profile. Currently i have some good points for my CV, but these new calls do indeed help as well. So what's your take on this? Should I apply to these calls or not?
My personal opinion is that you should go ahead with opportunities in clubs. As you are targeting CAT 2023. You have a lot of time to prepare. Giving 1 hr a day should be more than enough. Losing these opportunities to give CAT next year is not worth it. If you are to give CAT 2022 then you can think of skipping these opportunities.

Hey Ananya, I'd suggest checking with your seniors how much time will these activities consume and if you can be partially active during the end of the tenure? I was in Placement Cell of my college during the first and second year. I quit it in between the second year due to CAT preparation. The clubs demanded staying after college and it clashed with my coaching. So, it's absolutely okay to skip on these opportunities if they're gonna take up your prep time. I'd also suggest asking the clubs if they hire volunteers - that way you are not a member, you just assist them whenever an important event takes place and they need more hands to join.

Since I'm taking St. Xavier's Kolkata as a backup, I'll be going there if it starts early. Abhi to I'll learn skills ( Excel and Financial Modelling) aur CA Foundation dunga ( Just to have an option, plus CA Foundation mera 3-4 months mai ho jayega, exam being this December and that will help me in the sense that I won't have to study for 1st year college at all) . Fir baaki to DU hone se FRM L1 dunga Nov 2023 mai. Xavier's Mai hi hua to CA intermediate dunga May 2024 mai ( will not do FRM then) and CA Inter clear karke I'll start with CFA L1. Fir Xavier's se placement le lunga ( They have good placements, equivalent to Hansraj and Hindu, just not as good as Stephen's and SRCC)
@@Shweta-Arora Basically mera CA Inter karne ka thought aaya cuz it will give me basic knowledge about a lot of fields ( Taxation, Accounting, Law, Audit, Finance). And I've felt that it's wrong for me to give up some career opportunities without even trying. Hence CA Inter se mereko bohot kuch basic idea milega, fir specialize karne ke lie I'll go with CFA L1 in Last year. Fir Workex ke saath CFA L-2 and CFA L3 subsequent years mai karunga. Them two more years of work ex along with FRM ( L1 and L2). Uske baad agar IB job mil gaya to great, nahi to MBA is always there for the career jump. Don't think that I plan to collect so many certificates 😂 I need the knowledge from those Courses, that's the most important thing. I have good enough communication skills despite being an introvert, and if I gain the requisite knowledge, I don't think it will be tough to get into IB.
@@Shweta-Arora Didi, Aapka kya thoughts hai mere plan ke baare mai? It might sound like I'm really confused and stuff. But ab Mereko increasingly feel ho Raha hai ki CA Inter tak kar hi sakta hu. It'll be light on pocket, will give me basic idea of all fields, Bcom 2nd and 3rd year ka padhai isse hi ho jayega. Aur fir CFA L1 karke mai specialise kar lunga. Fir jab mai khud kamaunga, tab jitna bhi paise Lage course ke lie, it won't be a problem cuz I won't be dependent on my parents at least. My parents will already have to shell out at least 8 lakhs for the 3 years ( PG, College fees, CA Inter ka Coaching and CFA L1 ka registration fees), so I don't want to burden them more by doing FRM rn. Also FRM basic idea lene ke baad karne se jyada effective rahega ( Maine almost 18 hours worth of research kia hai exam ke baad se, so that's what I realised.) Please guide me a little, you're the only one Didi who has made it so big and who knows me pretty well, so you'll be able to understand where I'm coming from.
Hey Ayushmaan, thanks a lot for sharing this, I am so surprised that the colleges in DU are gonna start so late! Anyway, you have a sorted plan. I had shared this earlier also ki I am not so sure about the FRM certification, if you want to get into IB, why not focus on CFA itself and meanwhile you can still do CA if you like. Also, you will get more time to work on your overall personality - I'd suggest joining clubs and societies instead.

Yes, you can still do an MBA. For eligibility, check the official CAT 2022 website, they have added a PDF stating eligibility. You don't need work-ex to do an MBA.

Hi Sudeshna, it's difficult to predict what percentile would be safe to target but you have a decent profile to make it to the new IIMs. It is tougher for engineers and males to get through.

Hi di. Hope you're doing well. So I have a doubt regarding filling CAT form. It'll be great if you help me clarify it. So I did my 12th class in 2018 with PCB from CBSE board. But joined a private Engineering college at the same year(2018) without having maths in class 12th. But then I gave my 12th class maths exam from Cbse board in year 2020 as an extra subject while doing graduation in my 2nd year. 1. Will it create any problem for me while filling forms or interview round that in year 2018 before joining an engineering college I didn't had PCM but PCB and I still took admission and gave maths exam after 2 years. 2. Also now as I have to fill CAT form. In class 12th percentage should I just mention my pcb % or also add maths % too. 3. If I'm adding maths percentage too then year of passing for +2 will be 2018 or 2020. As maths was an additional subject later on but was needed for engineering. Thankyou in advance
Thanks, Sonam. I'm doing good, hope you're well too. PCB students can do an MBA, there aren't any challenges that I've heard of - two of my batchmates went into consulting, one into marketing. They may not be a fit for finance unless they have relevant work-ex or CFA, everything else is similar. Most students who get into IIMs have the ability to learn new concepts and their batchmates are cooperative, they help them out. So, it's just the same for everyone.
Ma'am as a non engineer i have so many doubts.. Please please clear my below mentioned problems 1) I am zoology hons student from state govt university ..will my subject or my university affect my cat interviews or anything 2) in our college we dont have 6 semeter wise exams.. We only have yearly exam that is i will have only 2 main marks from 1st and 2nd year. And cat form asks for 4 semester marks. How will i fill that??? Please help me

It depends on the importance of that topic. Also, at this stage you have time to do few new topics but don't discount your practice of other topics because of it.
Like Keshav mentioned, try assessing your weakest area after a mock and see if it is important enough. If your attempt rate is too low, it is better to cover the syllabus first.

With 95%ile no, the competition is a lot. You should target the colleges that accept low acads like FMS, IITs, XLRI - for them target more percentile.

My personal opinion is that you should go ahead with opportunities in clubs. As you are targeting CAT 2023. You have a lot of time to prepare. Giving 1 hr a day should be more than enough. Losing these opportunities to give CAT next year is not worth it. If you are to give CAT 2022 then you can think of skipping these opportunities.

Hey Ananya, I'd suggest checking with your seniors how much time will these activities consume and if you can be partially active during the end of the tenure? I was in Placement Cell of my college during the first and second year. I quit it in between the second year due to CAT preparation. The clubs demanded staying after college and it clashed with my coaching. So, it's absolutely okay to skip on these opportunities if they're gonna take up your prep time. I'd also suggest asking the clubs if they hire volunteers - that way you are not a member, you just assist them whenever an important event takes place and they need more hands to join.

Since I'm taking St. Xavier's Kolkata as a backup, I'll be going there if it starts early. Abhi to I'll learn skills ( Excel and Financial Modelling) aur CA Foundation dunga ( Just to have an option, plus CA Foundation mera 3-4 months mai ho jayega, exam being this December and that will help me in the sense that I won't have to study for 1st year college at all) . Fir baaki to DU hone se FRM L1 dunga Nov 2023 mai. Xavier's Mai hi hua to CA intermediate dunga May 2024 mai ( will not do FRM then) and CA Inter clear karke I'll start with CFA L1. Fir Xavier's se placement le lunga ( They have good placements, equivalent to Hansraj and Hindu, just not as good as Stephen's and SRCC)
@@Shweta-Arora Basically mera CA Inter karne ka thought aaya cuz it will give me basic knowledge about a lot of fields ( Taxation, Accounting, Law, Audit, Finance). And I've felt that it's wrong for me to give up some career opportunities without even trying. Hence CA Inter se mereko bohot kuch basic idea milega, fir specialize karne ke lie I'll go with CFA L1 in Last year. Fir Workex ke saath CFA L-2 and CFA L3 subsequent years mai karunga. Them two more years of work ex along with FRM ( L1 and L2). Uske baad agar IB job mil gaya to great, nahi to MBA is always there for the career jump.
Don't think that I plan to collect so many certificates 😂
I need the knowledge from those Courses, that's the most important thing. I have good enough communication skills despite being an introvert, and if I gain the requisite knowledge, I don't think it will be tough to get into IB.

It'll be light on pocket, will give me basic idea of all fields, Bcom 2nd and 3rd year ka padhai isse hi ho jayega. Aur fir CFA L1 karke mai specialise kar lunga.
Fir jab mai khud kamaunga, tab jitna bhi paise Lage course ke lie, it won't be a problem cuz I won't be dependent on my parents at least. My parents will already have to shell out at least 8 lakhs for the 3 years ( PG, College fees, CA Inter ka Coaching and CFA L1 ka registration fees), so I don't want to burden them more by doing FRM rn. Also FRM basic idea lene ke baad karne se jyada effective rahega ( Maine almost 18 hours worth of research kia hai exam ke baad se, so that's what I realised.) Please guide me a little, you're the only one Didi who has made it so big and who knows me pretty well, so you'll be able to understand where I'm coming from.
Hey Ayushmaan, thanks a lot for sharing this, I am so surprised that the colleges in DU are gonna start so late! Anyway, you have a sorted plan. I had shared this earlier also ki I am not so sure about the FRM certification, if you want to get into IB, why not focus on CFA itself and meanwhile you can still do CA if you like. Also, you will get more time to work on your overall personality - I'd suggest joining clubs and societies instead.

It depends on which stream you are from? IIM-A looks difficult, the acad requirements are too high.
What is your IQ score? (research purpose!) And, yeah what is your Standard deviation?

Hey Dipanshi, no you can choose a different interview centre e.g. my interviews happened in Delhi. There's a place called India Habitat Centre, that's where all my interviews took place.

Yes, you can still do an MBA. For eligibility, check the official CAT 2022 website, they have added a PDF stating eligibility. You don't need work-ex to do an MBA.

Hi Sudeshna, it's difficult to predict what percentile would be safe to target but you have a decent profile to make it to the new IIMs. It is tougher for engineers and males to get through.

Mam as he had cracked all exams why is he in simb after having 99.1%ile in CAT ...Why there were no calls from BLACKI?
Because he is GEM. For BLACKI you have to score above 99.5+ if you are GEM
bcz he's 12th and graduation marks were low
99.1 isn't enough for engineers to get into BLACKI. Targeting 99.9+ with a similar profile as his would have gotten him calls from A/B/C

Hi di. Hope you're doing well. So I have a doubt regarding filling CAT form. It'll be great if you help me clarify it.
So I did my 12th class in 2018 with PCB from CBSE board. But joined a private Engineering college at the same year(2018) without having maths in class 12th.
But then I gave my 12th class maths exam from Cbse board in year 2020 as an extra subject while doing graduation in my 2nd year.
1. Will it create any problem for me while filling forms or interview round that in year 2018 before joining an engineering college I didn't had PCM but PCB and I still took admission and gave maths exam after 2 years.
2. Also now as I have to fill CAT form. In class 12th percentage should I just mention my pcb % or also add maths % too.
3. If I'm adding maths percentage too then year of passing for +2 will be 2018 or 2020. As maths was an additional subject later on but was needed for engineering.

PCB students can do an MBA, there aren't any challenges that I've heard of - two of my batchmates went into consulting, one into marketing. They may not be a fit for finance unless they have relevant work-ex or CFA, everything else is similar. Most students who get into IIMs have the ability to learn new concepts and their batchmates are cooperative, they help them out. So, it's just the same for everyone.

1) I am zoology hons student from state govt university ..will my subject or my university affect my cat interviews or anything
2) in our college we dont have 6 semeter wise exams.. We only have yearly exam that is i will have only 2 main marks from 1st and 2nd year. And cat form asks for 4 semester marks.

It depends on the importance of that topic. Also, at this stage you have time to do few new topics but don't discount your practice of other topics because of it.
Like Keshav mentioned, try assessing your weakest area after a mock and see if it is important enough. If your attempt rate is too low, it is better to cover the syllabus first.

MBB don't need/prefer any certifications. They need a good academic profile, relevant work-ex or extra-curricular activities.
